I had my previous tower computer for nearly eight years, start having signs it was dying, it was costing me money ... needed a new one, quickly. I wanted a state of the art machine; I wanted speed looks, and of course name brand. I feel doing without a computer would handicap me. Its my other brain. I felt I would never consider a refurbished computer, let alone a desktop. I did take a chance; purchased this HP 8100 Desktop Computer w/ Intel i5, 3.2GHz. Now I would not be real if I pretended as if I know a lot about the components in computers. I can read specs, this one has it. Ram 8, Speed 3.2 GHz, 8 USB Ports and Windows 10 installed. I have had this for about four months, price was right. Well worth the money, it you love honest, real people reviews, and in need of a computer, I believe you will be making a purchase.

Update: After 16 months the machine has crashed hard! It shows a BSOD with msg "Automatic Repair cannot recover the PC" ...and a few options that dont work. (for es, system restore function cannot find a restore point, so it fails). I am pretty technical as a user, and went to microsoft site for help plus found solutions on the web but none work...for example, running MBR fix was supposed to help, but it did not. Then TomsHardware had a procedure suggested checking for certain files, and if they are missing (ie, show 0 bytes) then take the machine for service. So now I guess there will be a bill for $200 or $300...we will see. Orig comments: Had it for 1 month, no issues at all so far. Simple out of box setup, Wifi works, internal speaker was nice while I was troubleshooting, bootup is pretty quick...all in all a great deal for less than 1/3 of what I just paid for my latest cell phone. Now that is ridiculous.

I was very disappointed in this computer. Ive purchased MANY refurb products in the past that worked like new but not this one!! When I received it, there were scratches on the exterior of the case and one side was expanded. It was covered with dust - inside and out. When I iplugged it in it sounded like a train, but a bump on the side stopped that. Programmed it for work ( which takes HOURS) and started using it last Thursday, I needed to move it to the top of my desk from the floor today and that horrid fan noise began and it would not even come on, (after only 6 days of use). I called the refurb co 0 Microbeecs - explained the problem and asked for a replacement. She took my number and said they would call back. That was at 11:30 AM and have heard nothing (time 6:30 PM) I will be returning this and need a replacement., I can also provide pics if needed.

This computer worked well until 12/12/2018. During the night it turned itself off and when I tried to use it in the morning, the screen was pale blue and the system tried to repair itself to no avail. My computer repairman came and discovered that somehow windows 10 had completely vanished from the computer and it could not be fixed, I lost EVERYTHING. I had Virus protection and never opened anything questionable. I am very upset and unhappy that this only lasted 1.5 years. The omplete loss of Windows 10 from the system is something repairman had ever seen. I have no idea what to do but cry

I tech consult for a nonprofit. We purchased this computer for the 501c org to function as a media center. I attached it to the ROKU TV using a VGA-HDMI adapter. It works amazingly well. No problems what so ever. The case looks fine, you can tell its refurbished but doesnt look worn down. All parts are dust free (even removing the shell and looking inside reveals perfectly clean components. I bought a wireless keyboard / mouse and a 1080p USB webcam. We leave the pc in a shelf unit under the 55" TV, set up the webcam, and sit 30 feet back using the wireless controls to hold Skype sessions with movie producers across the world after streaming their videos over Youtube or Amazon. I run a CAT6 to the unit but with so many USB ports, just pick up a cheap WIFI adapter and you can connect to your router without cables. This unit has a DVD player which we also use to watch physical ROM discs and the Processor/RAM/Harddrive is robust enough for the nonprofit to experience lag-free, fast applications with no concern about filling up the storage. We are perfectly happy with this unit and actually purchased another for an employee workstation. Both function perfectly well. Remember, this is an older unit but will work just fine for you as long as your not trying to do multimedia on the Adobe Creative Cloud! I wouldnt suggest it for hardcore gamers either.... but then again if your a real creative or gamer, you already know you want a beast of a machine, not this one. If you are a small business person, need to use office software, Skype, look up a bunch of stuff on Google/Bing/Yahoo, webbrowse with your Google GSuite, check your Google Voice messages, make silly social media posts, watch way too much YouTube & Netflix, order another 3 bags of dog food using Amazon, send for pizza at 4 am with GrubHub, file your late taxes with Turbo Tax, try to keep up with your books with Quicken, track vanishing inventory with Google Docs/Sheets and of course PLAY SOLITARE! This is your PC. If you have a modern monitor/TV and a WIFI router for your internet then consider these extras that will be an additional $30 or so: * Buy a VGA to HDMI adapter https://www.amazon.com/VicTsing-Converter-Adapter-Output-Female/dp/B00K4W62R4/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1549002238&sr=1-4&keywords=vga+to+hdmi+adapter * Get a USB WIFI adapter https://www.amazon.com/EDUP-ac600Mbps-Wireless-External-10-6-10-13/dp/B01CCMUN8C/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1549002338&sr=1-3&keywords=usb+wifi Have fun with your super cool, fast, PC for cheap!!! Just dont hate me when you admit to yourself that youre gonna love googling the word "idiot" to look at all the pictures that show up!

I dont do any gaming, just some graphic design and business related tasks. This computer works great. In order to add a second monitor I needed to add a new video card. The computer only has a 240 watt power supply, so you need to make sure the card will work without having to upgrade that power supply. I went with this one: MSI GAMING GeForce GT 710 2GB GDDR5 64-bit DirectX 12 Low Profile Graphic Card (GT 710 2GD5 LP). The power cord for the second monitor was a 15-pin so I needed to get an adapter. This is the one I got: Giveet DVI to VGA Adapter, DVI 24+1 DVI-D Dual Link to VGA Male to Female 1080P Video Cable Converter. Very pleased with this purchase

Best value for the price. No issues, great seller whos more than willing to work with you. If youre looking for a powerful computer and dont want to pay Best-Buy prices, dont mind spending 20 for wireless card, this is for you. 220 dollars to get a computer thats as good as 600 dollar one. The good- very powerful processor, plenty of USB ports, and Windows 10 Pro (which costs 199 dollars to download from MS)....amazing value...so you getting a free computer or free 10 Pro licence. Take your pick. Ungodly number of USB ports. Video card was unexpectedly good. The i5 is great. For a comparison- took all night to download 800 gigs from other other i3 computer. This one took 2 hours upload the same amount. I currently have a USB wireless, USB 2 Tera HD, USB sound card, Second USB Soundcard (work thing), USB chip reader, Second USB Chip reader, USB Key Board, USB Mouse, and the processor is taking it all in stride. The seller- answered a question at 9pm on a weekend. Best people I have ever dealt with in any internet transaction. The bad, Hard Drive is loud compared to others, youll notice, but thats about it. Not that bad. No wireless but you can get a USB wireless for 20 dollars. I did, works flawlessly. The sound card is business grade. But you can get a USB sound card for 20 dollars and speakers for 10. Plug and rock. I did, works almost gamer quality and lets face it- when is a base-desktop (less than 600) sound card worth a damn? Ok, yeah, I got 60 dollar speakers, but you dont have too. MS Edge has issues. Not the sellers fault. Seems like a 10 pro issues. Get Chrome. The "another reason to be annoyed with Microsoft"- You have to scratch off the license. Thats an MS issue, not the seller, MS makes them do it. Its on the back, seller will help you find it. Bottom line, for 200 dollars, you get 199 dollars worth of software on a computer that retailed for 800 or so. For an additional 40 dollars in USB plug and play stuff, you get a system will do more than you need to. Best desktop deal.

The PC is in excellent shape physicall, booted right up, but there is some issue with the vga video, that is I cant get anything on my HP monitor that works fine on our old PC. So I used the display/hdmi port on our TV to make some headway in getting started. The other niggly thing is the 1 TB drive is partitioned in two, not my first preference. Actually it does seem bigger physically than the SFF designation, which is OK, space not being an issue. One other thing I havent seen any evidence of it being equipped with WIFI. Strangely its tagged as a Z200, but the box seems the same as shown. One thing to consider regarding your data is that you cant use Easy Transfer, since it doesnt work with win10. Sadly, since in my opinion is one of the best programs ms as ever made. So if you do use it youll have to buy another program to move your data over. I believe that backup/restore can be used.

Purchased this unit to replace a Lenova PC. Installation was seamless. After 5 days the unit began to emit strange noises. The fan began to rev-up to very high range and then return to normal operation on its on. On the 7th day, upon start-up, received an error message that the fan could not be detected. Returning the unit for credit.

I was very pleased with this machine. Very good speed/spec for the price. As an IT specialist often trying to replace machines in a time of limited budgets, what I enjoyed the most was how easy it was to work on the machine. With a little enginuity, one can tear it apart and put it back together in minutes. In particular, I added an old boot drive from a machine I was replacing. Took me 15 minutes, most of which was learning curve on the case.
