I bought this to use with my Nikon D5600 as a portrait lens. Its absolutely perfect for my needs. Autofocus works perfectly, though a bit slower than my other Nikkor lenses, Its perfect for my needs. With my savings on this lens, I have more for other pressing photographic needs.

I read some scoff at this lens because it is from China and very affordable. I have tested my copy from Amazon, and at F11, the image quality is nothing short of amazing. Along with the quality of construction and packaging, I would have to say this lens is an absolute bargain. As with many faster primes, it is not a good idea to shoot wide open and expect sharp corners. The corners improve, and are best at F8-F11. On a DX camera, this is a 75mm lens. The corners are sharper because they are cropped by the camera. I am very pleased with this Amazon purchase!

I did a test on this lens before I made this review. I really recommnend this lens. Pros: Autofocus: 85% of the time can do the job its faster compare to other nikon lens that I have. Sharpness: This lens is very sharp I dont see difference on other nikon lens actually its sharper on some point. At 2.8F this is the sweet spot for portrait on this lens. Built: Built is very acceptable. Even its made on plastic this is still a solid lens for this price point. Plus points: This lens have a modern coating. You gonna love the skin tone and contrast out from this lens. Cons: * i agree on other reviews that this lens is little bit more high on highlights which you can control depends on the settings that have in your camera. But if you are shooting using a raw file and love to do post processing its not gonna be problem. it can easily adjust using photo editing software. *Aperture from 1.8 to 2.5 is very soft. But this normal also on some brand lens out there. This is my honest review on this lens. This lens is superb on this price point. Not to bulky easy to carry around have a very sharp image, modern looking lens and most important it can do the job. If you are on the budget this lens is a must have. Still a lot people going to say bad about this lens but I am going to tell you that they just cant just accept the truth that this lens is very competitive to their expensive lens .

Start with price! If you are looking for a bargain this is it! If your expecting exact quality, as in the big names... put that thought aside. The lens is good for the lay photographer who enjoys hobby photos. Perfect for that! I see a little darkness to the photos even under the brightest light and The widest aperture. Am I happy with it... yes, I wanted a light travel lens, and to start using a prime lens. I was relying on My 18-200 mm too often. I am using it on a rather low end camera. The Nikon D5500.

I just got this lens today. It is surprisingly amazing for the price. Its better than the kit lenses that come with the Nikon D3300 (NIKKOR 18-55mm & NIKKOR 50-200mm). The images are sharp. The ability to go as low as f/1.8 allows a photographer to take great videos/pictures in low light settings, and of course you can take portrait-style pictures/super focused pictures with bokeh and blurry background. I would suggest using a NIKKOR 18-55mm to film/photograph any scenes that you simply want to be crisp and easy to film. I would suggest using a NIKKOR 50-200mm for the same purpose for scenes that are farther away, plus you get a lower f stop. I would suggest using this lens (Yongnuo 50mm f/1.8) to film cinematic-looking shots that are super-focused where you move around, change the focus, and make an amazing shot.

As a newbie to photography in the DSLR era, the photo quality from this lens is fantastic. No complaints, and the slight wash-out is easily fixed in post by Windows 10s built in photo tool. The autofocus is atrocious. The motor is loud and grinds harder than grandma finding gears on the Ford. It hunts constantly in low-medium light conditions. Using this on a D3500, with its crop sensor, I wish I had gone with the 35mm focal length version. Which gives me a reason to buy the Nikkor 35mm version and love it. But overall, this is a great lens for someone just getting in to photography and learning what they like and want at 1/3rd name brand prices.

This lens would be terrible if I paid Nikons prices. The chromatic aberration has a green shift that lightroom refuses to get rid of, the lens doesnt focus very quickly, and the lens might randomly disconnect from the camera, forcing you to turn the body off and on. But this lens doesnt cost $200. If you have a camera with a built-in focus motor (mine is a D3400, it doesnt), then just get the Nikkor f/1.8D, the refurb is $30 more but you wont have the ugly green shift.

Likes: Price point. Fit. Bokeh. Images. I feel like it can focus on objects closer than my Nikon 50mm can. Overall fit and operation. Dislikes: Autofocus is noticeably slower, but not to the point its detrimental to the shooting. The motor made a weird sound while shooting like it was running continuous. Shut the camera off for ten seconds and it hasnt happened since. No lens hood. Overall, this is going to be my main lens to take hiking, fishing, to job sites, traveling, basically anywhere where dropping or damaging the camera is at a higher than average likelihood.

I received the lens and was eager to try it out. I debated between this and the Nikon. As it was not going to be on my camera that much and from most of the reviews I decided to take a chance. Focus hangs far to much, and there was terrible vignetting, sharpness was a definite issue. Tried on three different cameras and results were all the same. I have used Yongnuo flashes for several years and have been very happy with them, the lens unfortunately was a disaster. Hopefully I just received a bad copy, but dont want to take the risk again.

The lens performs exactly as I anticipated. The previous reviewers assessments have been on point. It takes a moment to find focus sometimes, but eventually always finds it. Auto focus works with Nikon D3300. What can you hate about a well-performing 50mm prime for less than $100???
