I wish Id read the reviews before purchasing. Had I, then I would not have expected a precision calibration tool made of - oh, I dont know - precise hard plastic. Imagine my sheer confusion and dismay when I opened the Amazon box to find the "pyramid," yet it was flat. And made out of bend-and-fold-tab cardstock. You know, the photographer cousin to Steak-n-Shakes kids menu (fold tab A into slot 1, bend until B folds into C, and now you have a nifty car!). So okay, moving on from the cardstock material and the absurd price of $25 (they even printed on the bottom to recycle it instead of throwing it away. For $25, Im going to hold on to it until its yellowed and brittle and must be kept in a nitrogen sealed environment to slow decay), as other reviewers pointed out, due to the material and tab insertion and whatnot, it doesnt exactly sit flat. Or level. Or consistent. If a precision calibration tool is not precise, what good is it? If it were made of hard plastic, I think it would be a winner and I - along with several reviewers - wouldnt feel gipped. As it stands, $25 for an inprecise cardstock bend-and-fold pyramid leaves a bad taste in my mouth - and question over whether my lenses are actually calibrated correctly.

I wish I had done more research before I purchased this item. Camera manufactures recommend your focus point be on a vertical plane not on an angle as this over priced gadget is designed. There is another version of this type of product for much less money where the focus target is at a 90 deg angle. I believe it is called DSLRKIT.

I joke of a product. Cheaply made, hard to put together junk. The lines are so tiny that its difficult to distinguish them. There are no micro numbers between steps, you have to figure it out. Not thats its difficult, but you shouldnt have to. The price may seem right, but not if it doesnt work. If you want to really calibrate you lenses get the Colordata SypderLensCal. You can buy on on eBay for $50.00, which is what I did. Im a professional photographer and need a calibration tool that actually works.

I can’t believe I have been a photographer for years and I’m JUST now getting this! It comes in flat and you fold it together. The directions are a little confusing, though. I ended up watching YouTube videos to figure it out because it’s specific to your camera settings! It’s a great tool to have on hand and I can calibrate all of my lenses! It’s a little overpriced for what you get, though!

Pretty good. I am now using this and a similar target to calibrate my lenses and am so glad I did not pay more for those "professional?" ones which do essentially the same thing. I love that its small and did not add to the clutter of photo gear that I have. But I have to say that the gradient is a bit simplistic and for the most part the other target I bought works better because of its variety of markings. This target with its scale/gradient is too close to laying out a ruler at 45° - it could benefit from added markings/patterns.

My only issue is that it came bent. It must have been up against something cylindrical in the mail; when I put it together it would not sit flat on a surface, so I had to let it sit (unfolded) under a heavy book before it was usable. Although I am really grateful for this product and its ability to be flattened for storage purposes, I kind of wish it was a solid object so that you dont have to worry as much about creases and curves throwing off your measurements.

Yes, this is a lot to spend if youre only considering the material its made of. However, it is very quick and easy to calibrate my lenses without having to try to finagle a home-made set up so its well worth the money.

For the price, its not really that good. I was going to print out something and laminate it before seeing this online, figured it was much better for the price, but once I got it it is just hard paper that you fold and put together. Save yourself, find something online you can print and fold into a pyramid, itll be a lot cheaper.

This does work, but the instructions included with it are not super helpful. However, that’s to be expected since every DSLR is different. Make sure you understand how to use your camera and understand focal lengths, etc. prior to jumping into using the pyramid. There’s a ton of videos out there that can help.

I was having problems getting sharp tack focus with my Nikon D800. Some of my lenses always appeared to back focus. I purchased this handy little tool and calibrated all of my lenses using it. BAM! Tack sharp focus every time! Every camera lens has some variations in focusing, this will help you to zero in on that focus and significantly improve your focus. Worth the money. My only complaint is that it was hard to find the instructional videos on how to use this and then I had to find the instructions for adjusting my Nikon on lens focus settings on my own by doing a web search.
