I typically shoot with Canon L series and primes so when I try out cheap consumer lenses I can tell the difference right away. Some can be hidden gems - like the yongnuo 35mm f2. This lens struck me as a nearly identical copy of canons 50mm f1.8 I except obviously its 35mm. It does not seem any cheaper in construction quality than the Canon. Optically it seems similar to the Canon as well- sharp but shallow at f2, really sharp by f4. Color rendition seems good and neutral. AF seems to hit the mark even in relatively dim light. Cant complain there. Manual focus feels smooth but plasticy - better than some more expensive lenses Ive used and again very similar to the Canon 50. My only complaint is that the Nikon version seems to be a better design with bayonet hood, focus scale, etc. This is an obvious choice for casual and occasional use, but for pro daily use Id get an L.

Well - I must say I was skeptical at first but this lens does produce a really beautiful image for the price. Ive shot with canons version of this lens, however I couldnt justify not trying this first. Its nO canon, but for $88 - this Lens kills it. I shoot manual with my canon 6D - here is a few images from today. Ill also note that I purchased the additional warranty due to a few reviews of the lens failing after a few uses.... hopefully that doesnt happen for me :)

Overall, for the price I feel like this is a good lens! I’ve been wanting to try it for awhile but have been weary. I used it in 3 different sessions and I did have a few photos where it just didn’t focus right and the photos were soft and not focused at all. But I had a bunch of great ones and I felt like it gave me a film inspired look. I shot the images on a crop sensor and I would say it’s best to get close to your clients to ensure clarity. I’ll continue to use the lens but will ensure to take duplicates to ensure some do focus correctly.

For the price this seems to be a pretty good product. I bought it to take nice photos of my daughter and it works well. Not great. I read reviews where lots of purchasers said it’s not good for video, but that didn’t matter to me. My issue is that it doesn’t seem super clear. Which drives me insane. For instance- photos taken with this lens always seems to be a little extra grainy than they should be, also, using automatic focus is very slow and often doesn’t work very well. I have to shoot with manual focus most of the time with only this lens. I’m not sure if this is something with this one I have specifically or if they’re all like this. When my mother looks at the photos, she says she can’t tell... but I can

For the money, this seems like a decent budget lens. I also have Yongnuos 50mm lens... both these lenses must use the exact same body with different internals. It seems to focus ok, average speed, and noticeable noise but for still shots, it gets the job done. I wouldnt think it would be a choice for video users however (too noisy for video work). All in all, do I want those L-series Canon lenses... absolutely. Do I want to pay for those L-series... ouch. If youre getting into photography or just want to play around with prime lenses and take advantage of that F2 depth of field shot, this is pretty smart money to find out how much fun can be had!
