Sold my Nikon 10-20mm f5.6 as a used lens and used the money to buy this lens new. I saved $150 and got a better lens. Using the lens for landscapes and night photography. The f2.8 is great for both and the lens is tack sharp in the center and sharp to the edges once I stop up to f4/f5.6. Great value!

Really good build quality lens. Awful feel focus ring when changing from manual to autofocus. I think it has kind of lower image quality to most of my other lenses (which are Nikon, as expected from what you read an see in many Internet reviews and sample images of this lens). Still very hard to beat cost/"angle of view" relationship. Pretty decent lens for night skies (using a tripod and somewhat long exposure, especially as a hobbyist with limited budget). I think its best use is for landscapes and personally I like it for "immersive" perspectives in which I dont care a lot on getting some curvature of the image in the corners (which anyway can be somewhat corrected in post processing). About colors... I am not an expert but seems to me as if this lens produce images with lot of contrast but not necessarily in a good way looks to me as more artificial image, not a big deal for what I use it (hobby, nothing pro)

A sharp fast zoom that performs as well as all the reviews say. Very useful 20mm zoom range vs. the 11-16, but for the most part so far Im shooting at the wide end. But a 30mm equivalent is almost a walk around focal length which is really nice to have on an ultra wide. On my D7100, focus is quick, quiet, and accurate. Like most Tokinas, this lens feels nearly bombproof.

I was looking for several days to find the right wide angle lens for my Nikon D7100. After extensive research and reading camera lens test results the Tokina was the best and I wanted a more extensive shooting range then its 11-16 predecessor. When Tokina came out with the 11-20 it blew the cheap plastic Nikon 10-24 (made in china) out the water and also its other wide angle the older 12-24. Forget Tamron and all others. For half the price of other wide angle lenses you get a high quality well constructed metal lens that produces one beautiful picture after the next. The jury has reached a verdict...guilty as hell for being the best wide angle lens on the market.

Im loving this lens!! I was a bit skeptical because of a few conflicting reviews regarding gray market products, but I verified that this seller was an authorized dealer, and a full 3 year warranty is honored. Im a hobbyist at best, so take my review as a humble offering of opinion only, but this lens takes beautiful shots. It has a nice solid-build feel, and at a constant f/2.8, its great for pulling in wide shots with not much light. I will be using this a lot for my real estate listings, and for a upcoming trip to Poland. The high, arched cathedrals and beautiful landscapes are going to be great material for this glass, and I cant wait to get more time with it. Ive noticed the slight barrel distortion that a few have mentioned, as well as some of the minor aberrations, but seriously; at this price Im not expecting perfect. What I would expect in function and form are greatly exceeded. The images are beautiful with this lens, and it does what its designed to do. If you are missing fast, wide angle lens in your arsenal, I would suggest this lens with no hesitation. Also, thanks to The CameraBox for the quick shipping!
Great for a while

This has been a great addition to my lenses. I have used this for landscape pictures, and pictures of rooms in houses. I work for a company that does remodels and when they are done I go on site and take pictures of the finished product. This allows me to get a very wide angle and most of the room. The picture I have included was in a small bathroom taken with a D7100 crop sensor camera, meaning this lens on it is a 16.5-30mm.

This is my first non Nikon lens and I am a huge fan. It is fast, sharp, and well built. Vignetting seems to be minimal, and distortion isnt bad either. Yes, it will flare with the sun in the frame, but so do most of my Nikon brand lenses. There is some chromatic aberration, but once again, I would hesitate to say that it has more than at least some of my Nikon lenses. The quality of this lens is outstanding, and especially for the price. A 3 year warranty is nothing to scoff at either. Bear in mind that the lens needs to be purchased from an authorized dealer to be eligible for the 3 year warranty. 17th street photo is an Amazon retailer AND an authorized dealer. 82 mm filters are a bit of a drag, but I rarely use anything other than a circular polarizer anyway, which has more limited use on an ultra wide lens anyway.

As Abraham Lincoln once said when asked to endorse a mouse trap, "For the kind of person who needs such a thing, this is the kind of thing that person needs." In other words, a wide angle is a wide angle. That said, this one behaves well, feels solid, and has no obvious flaws. Well done.

An amazing lens through and through. After much research this appeared to be the best option for Nikon DX wide angle format and I can only confirm all other reviews I have come across. It is well build, great for Macro, beautiful landscapes, fast zoom, quiet, and the manual focus ring is well built and smooth to operate. If you are to believe other professional reviewers like Ken Rockwell this one is also suitable for FX.

This is one of the better wide angle DX options for Nikon. Unfortunately it flares terribly in direct sunlight and my shooting style involves quite a bit of shooting into the sun. Will likely sell and try something else.
