Wow. Just wow. Impressive lens. Maybe the latest Nikon is a tad better but choosing between the Nikon or this one and a 85/1.4 for the same price there is no contest - for my budget. Six years warranty tells me that Tamron is confident about its product - in reality its too soon to tell though. Focusing is fast on my D810. Stabilizer - wow. My own quick tests showed more than four stops improvement handheld at 200mm. Hood is a bit thin and flimsy compared to Sigmas rock-solid hoods - there is room for an aftermarket hood, perhaps CNC aluminum with locking, Id pay $100 for such a product. Bokeh looks good. Close focus is impressive as well. I still would have preferred focus ring up front as I seldom use it on this kind of lens.

This lens is excellent. Sharp. Bright. Fast to focus. Spectacular vibration compensation. The only thing I notice is that when using a sling to carry my camera with this lens, the switches which enable/disable autofocus and vibration compensation can be moved while Im walking around. Slightly annoying, but the image quality is good enough that this is a minor annoyance.

Ive gone through a lot of 70-200s, and this is probably my favorite - its just an all around really amazing lens - quick, accurate, and sharp. The 3 VR/VC modes are really nice to choose from, too, and they actually work - I can handheld at 1/30th of a second and still get a sharp photograph, shockingly! I was super bummed when it didnt work with the new Nikon Z6 at first, but then I saw there was a firmware update for the lens - you just need to purchase the additional Tamron Tap-in usb dock/console thing - its a quick update and it now works with my Z6. Overall one of my favorite lenses! Tamron has really been stepping it up! The lenses dont feel as professional as others, but theyre good enough, and the optics are just stunning and accurate.

Love the quality build and razor sharpness of this lens even at wide open f2.8. Purchased open box, like New. No warranty and saved $300 off list price....time will tell if a gamble worth taking. In all candor, probably a gray market item that I received....everything was well packaged, brand new in box.

Out of the box sharp as a tack. I bought this for a Nikon D850, and had anticipated a period of focus calibration; even so far as buying the Tap-In console to get the most out of this lens. But no worries. It was ready on delivery. This lens is remarkably fast. Auto Focus is quick and VC (Vibration Compensation) works exceptionally well. Build quality makes this lens feel solid. It feels like a tank. It feels like you could drive a nail with it. I’m going to have this camera for a long time, and this lens is going to be my walk around lens. It feels like like it’s ready for where ever I’m ready to go.

I am so happy I bought this lens. Not only does it make me feel like those cool pros I was always envious of growing up, but it’s incredibly versatile and the image stabilization is life changing. Compared to the price of the Nikon equivalent, this one seems like the clear choice. Tamron has really stepped up their game in the past few years and this lens evidences that perfectly. If you’re into photography and want to up your game, this lens is a necessity. It’s amazing and I’m SO happy I bought it.

Great glass. I didnt have to tune lens to the Nikon D5, and I tested the VC in low light with focus at its furthest limit. Although non-VC picture was acceptable in sharpness, there was a noticeable difference in picture once VC was turned on. Zooming in the captured image is the only way I could see the difference. Fast and accurate. Colors arent altered and its quiet.
