I bought this lens a couple weeks ago, but it wasnt until this morning where I had the chance to test it. I have a camera body, Nikon 3300. I took around 200 pictures with this lens and these are my finding: If I wanted a sharp focus I had to do it manually and use, most of the time, my tripod. Sometimes I sensed that for some reason the light measure was not working properly. I thought it was my camera, but I changed lenses and I did not have the problem anymore. For births a little far it does not work; it is just 300mm, so I couldnt expect more. I have trouble at the beginning getting used to it, but at the end I got used and I started enjoying the session. When I developed the pictures I realized of the good quality of the images, so that has make me very happy. Im attaching a picture to this review.

This is a great lens for those just starting out in photography looking to increase their range outside of the kit lens. It was actually my lens of choice to accompany my 35mm prime and 18-55mm kit. And in the beginning, I found that I was able to get some amazing shots. A visit to a few zoos and botanical gardens yielded many frame-worthy shots (after a bit of color touch up), but when I tried using this lens to capture some farther, faster subjects (namely military planes during an air show) the slow auto focus was very evident, significantly affecting picture quality and missing key moments. I ended up switching back to my kit lens and using Photoshop to create the zoom/reach. A lot of lens for the money, but for compromised quality. As you continue to expand your knowledge on photography, youll quickly find that this lens will quickly fall out of favor. Honestly, this lens is not even 6 months old yet, and Im already looking to sell it back discounted used or at a complete loss. Pros: - Excellent range and reach - Macro is a plus Cons: - Noisy, slow autofocus - Loses sharpness as range increases - Color casting evident (had to use photoshop to correct it on multiple instances)

I so enjoyed breaking this lens in this past weekend at a local wildlife refuge. I use it with my Nikon D3000. I adore my Nikon 55-200 and have taken it on safari, but I wanted to try for a little more zoom without breaking the bank. This does the trick! I tried out the macro feature on the turtle photos. For the price, its certainly worth it.

Great lens for the price! Works flawlessly with Nikon D3100. Picture shows size difference between 70-300mm (left) & 18-55mm (right).

There was a time that I looked upon Tamron lenses as being junk. But I must say the quality of this lens is outstanding, and reflective of much higher quality than youd expect at this price point. And if youre looking for a big honkin lens that will allow you to reach out on it the distance while still providing vibrant colors, sharp contrasts and crisp edges, you will be very pleased with this lens. Understand that this is not a quick-action lens, so the autofocus may take a fraction longer than lenses that cost three times as much. But if you are a beginner or novice photographer and you take primarily non-action shots, I think you will be very pleased with this lens, as I am.

Received this lens yesterday and tried it immediately. Was very impressed with the ease of use, quality of the pictures and how fast the auto focus was. BUT beware!!!!!!! When I contacted Tamron to register it, I was informed this was a gray market lens and Tamron would not honor the warranty. This was advertised on Amazon as having a six year warranty, one of the main reasons why I purchased it. The lens was purchased through Amazon Prime with "Fulfillment by Amazon". I believe (but am not sure) the sub-distributor was Video Camera Center, which according to Tamron is not an approved dealer. I cant begin to describe how disappointed I am with Amazon. I am now going through the hassle of returning this and will be looking for another venue to purchase this.

First let me say the seller is awesome. Fast shipping and just as described. Now to the lens. I read all the bad reviews and people warning dont buy this lens. I am a professional photographer and find myself in an unusual position financially, due to my wifes long hospital say. When I dropped my high dollar Nikon lens and destroyed it. I had to find a replacement and couldnt spend a lot of money for one. I got the Tamron lens today and took out in the day light and after dark. This lens preformed well beyond my expectations. I will add more to this after tomorrow. I will have pictures. Just buy this lens before they are not available.

The product works fine. The advertising description was in-accurate. It did not show that the lens cap was included with the lens. In fact is showed the lens and the cap were separate items that were "frequently bought together" As a consequence of this mis-information I wasted $10 to buy an extra lens cap I did not need. Come on Amazon get the information on your products correct.

This is a great lens. I use it on my Nikon D3200. I use this mostly for action shots, soccer games, horse shows and sleigh riding. I also get great action shots of the dog playing, running, swimming. I do use it for still pics of the kids too and get amazing pics! However, the main reason I chose to purchase this lens was to use it for action shots and I am not disappointed. The zoom was very much needed because many times we are seated in the bleachers quite a distance away from the soccer players and I get some pretty nice shots. The price is great.
