Tamron Auto Focus 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens with Built in Motor for Nikon Digital SLR (Model A17NII)
I absolutely love this lens. I purchased this for my Nikon D3300 and am incredibly impressed with its quality. I have taken some nature photos and sports photos and am delighted with the sharpness of the photos. For the price and the end results this lens is nearly perfect. I love the fact it has autofocus as well but is easy to use in manual mode as well. Great lens for both up close and far away photos.

I should start off by saying, I am a beginner photographer using a Nixon D3200. Ive only used one other lens in my life, the one it came with, which is why I figured I better get a better one for distance shots. Im not looking to be a professional, I really just enjoy the outdoors and want to be able to take pictures of birds & wildlife. I mostly bought this lens to use for photographing birds. I was really deterred by the price and nervous about the lack of image stabilization, being that Im not very steady handed. I decided to give it a shot anyways. I am completely in awe. This lens perfectly fits my needs. Im able to take pictures of birds in just about any lighting and weather, whether they are moving or not. The auto focus was a must for me and it works beautifully. It seems sturdy and durable and is very easy to use. Im able to get beautiful close up shots of birds in nearby trees! Im not at all steady handed and all of my pictures have been without the use of a tripod, just by hand. Even if Im fully focused in, I can still take good pictures without a tripod or propping my elbows on something, so that didnt turn out to be an issue for me at all. Ive only had photographs with doubled tree branches in about 10 photos, out of about 200 since I got this lens. And really the photograph still came out really nice (its actually below)- the branches were blurred in the background so you really couldnt even tell. Also, with about 3 out of about 200 pictures I have taken, Ive seen a slight purple or green edge on the bird or tree branch. Its a rarity though. Im really impressed. Its also much lighter than I expected it to be, so Ill be able to take it hiking no problem- and we go on long trails, hiking for up to 10 hours a day! Im really impressed and I highly recommend this lens, especially for bird and wildlife enthusiasts. I do hope to one day get a lens that reaches further, but for now and with my current budget, this is perfect! Youll be able to get really good close up photos, some as close as even showing the details of their feathers, of birds in nearby trees. I can also get some pretty amazing long range photos with this as well. Totally worth it! The photos below were taken with this lens, with only minimal editing to the coloration and contrast of the photo. These birds were about 30-40 feet away in a nearby tree! They probably would have come out even better had I have used the hood that it comes with, but I keep forgetting to put it on.

Wonderful lens! At first I was struggling using it and almost returned it; Im so glad I didnt! Takes fantastic macro shots and wonderful zoom with adequate lighting. Works with my Nikon D5300. I took some photos at the Calgary zoo that Ive uploaded for examples.

Having used normal lenses almost exclusively for many years, I bought this to toy around with shooting a longer zoom. It was an experiment, so I went cheap, figuring, if I liked the change of view, Id save up for a higher-end lens. After a couple afternoons of taking this lens through its paces, I decided I like it a lot. I get good auto focus (if a little slow at times), nice bokeh, nice color saturation, and the images are sharp. Its rarely off my camera anymore. Im still planning to save up for a Nikon 80-400mm or maybe one of those constant f2.8 70-200mm zooms, but in the meantime, I am enjoying a lot more than I bargained for when I purchased this $200 lens. Things to know before you buy: 1) This lens seems to use a lot of power and drains batteries quickly; 2) It has a 62mm housing, but the functional front lens element is very much smaller; 3) The macro switch sticks if the focus ring isnt set to its starting position, or thereabouts.

For the money, this is a pretty good lense. Used it at an airshow and got some great shots. It can be a little slow at focusing but it usually does alright. Use it with my Nikon D3300

An excellent lens for the money. Obviously, you cant expect the same results as a professional set up with a $12,000 lens, but I really have no complaints with the purchase. I bought this for a Nikon D3300 and Im thinking about getting one for my Pentax K-50 as well. I have attached several photos taken with this lens a few days ago. January 2016.

I bought this lens for my Nikon D3000, which is a roughly 8-year-old camera. The D3000 doesnt have the type of internal motor that will drive auto-focus on this lens, so I had to choose one that has its own motor. Ive been alternately happy and disappointed with the lens. When it focuses, its capable of taking very nice shots, especially for hobbyists like myself (Im not a pro, just a traveller). The main problem is the AF mode. I was hiking alone and saw a bear for the first time in my life. It was a long way away, so I was glad to be able to safely take photos. Unfortunately, the lens was so slow to focus that I only got blurry shots. The lens motor is very loud, which isnt great for wildlife photos, either. As it tries to focus, the motor makes a whining sound. Again, once it focuses, its fine. But waiting for AF to do right isnt conducive to good photos unless the subject is stationary. I dont have sharp enough eyesight to use manual focus, so Im not thrilled by the lens. I also recognize that higher end equipment would bankrupt me, so for the price, Im reasonably satisfied with this lens.

The Tamron AF 70-300mm lens is just what the doctor ordered. I was looking for a telephoto with a zoom and had talked to a professional about the Tamron series of lenses. He immediately pulled his out of his bag and let me play with it. When I got home I ordered this lens. I dont worry about the vibration reduction. A monopod or tripod handles that without any problems. The lens is crystal clear and Ive noticed very little if any aberration. When you look at the cost of the Nikon 70-300 with VR or the Tamron lens with vibration reduction this lens wins hands down. Ive shot freehanded with this and noticed no blurring. I love this lens.

Love, love, love it! Yes auto focus works just fine on the D3300. Takes great pictures. Depth of fiels is good but not as good as a prime lense. Macro fuction is decent albeing 1:2 ratio. Cant beat thi baby for the price.

For an "inexpensive" lens (well, when compared with Nikons comparable lens), this Tamron 70-300mm + Macro lens can provide some amazingly sharp images. I usually attach a monopod to the camera for support when using this lens, especially at full extension. When working in the macro range, a tripod for support is best, but, I can still get excellent images of bees on flowers, freehand. The only thing I could wish for would be a VR (vibration reduction or image stabilization) setting (at my age, I experience essential tremor, which makes holding the camera steady a challenge).
Make sure this fitsby entering your model number. The popular Tamron AF 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 Di LD Macro features a built in motor to ensure fast accurate focusing Close-focusing ability - 0.95m (3.1 feet ), focal lengths between 180 and 300mm. Compatible with the d40, d40x and d60 in the mf mode due to the fact it does not have a built in motor This telephoto zoom will crop in tight or bring distant subjects in close. Angle of view: 34-8 There is also an incredible macro mode for photographing small objects up close giving a magnification ratio of 1:2 This phenomenal lens comes with a 6 year warranty. Lens hood included for maximum glare protection and increased contrast
