I already own two Tamron lenses and added this one to my collection to use in my indoors photography using Canon Rebel T6s. I am very happy with my decision. The lens is very sharp, auto focus is fast and precise and vibration compensation is silent. The best thing is the exposure is correct even if I use a fully automated mode with or without external flash. That is not the case with my older Tamron 18-270mm, which always gives me underexposed pictures. I am an amateur photographer so I dont want to spend too much money on gear and this lens is affordable enough to provide superb quality. Very much recommended.

I couldnt be happier with this lens. The contrast on the images it produces is STUNNING. I shoot weddings with this lens and the occasional landscape shot.

Bought this lens from Emmy Photo. It replaced my Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM. This lens will be on my D600 most of the time. It is definitely a step up from the Sigma I replaced. Awesome lens with VC! Bokeh is very nice! Excellent image quality. Pretty much what all the pro reviews have said. Love the short macro feature. The VC allows for great images in low light situations. It is a must have prime lens for sharp images and well round all purpose lens!

I was looking to purchase a 35mm prime and since Ive always been a red ring Canon fan I really wanted the 1.4II version. The price tag didnt bother me too much but I wanted to try it first so I got one from BorrowLenses and tried it out. It seemed fine but I couldnt say I was $1,699 blown away, especially since it doesnt have IS. Ive got the Tamron 24-70 and read good reviews about the 35mm, so with a rebate making the price $569 I gave it a shot. I can honestly say IMHO the Tamron kicks the Canons butt. Wow did I make a $1,200 great decision. I compared flower images taken at 1.6 on the Canon to 1.8 on the Tamron and the Tamron is much sharper and the colors way more accurate. The first couple images shot with my Canon MkIV were at 1.8 and they freaked me out because I kept seeing a ring around the image on the LCD screen. This happened for every image with a aperture setting from 2.5 to 1.8. When I downloaded the images to Lightroom they disappeared. Weird. I did find a menu setting that corrected this however. I guess on the downside the auto-focusing in servo mode is not too accurate with moving subjects. But then again I dont plan on using it for that. Bottom line is that this is a very sharp camera, especially when stopped down to around 5.6 and the VC is really, really good. Only reason to go with the higher priced Canon is the need to be seen with the red ring.

Super sharp, accurate focus, vibration control works well. Only real downside is the lens tends to squeak when focusing sometimes. No real explanation, did it day after opened box.

I dont think Ive ever written a review for amazon. I have been buying from them for about 8 years. I am writing a review about this product because I feel its necessary to give the attention it deserves. Its is honestly one of the better lenses I have ever had the pleasure of using. I am a engagement photographer and portrait photographer. I have used many lenses in the past and mostly stay true to Nikon lenses for my D750. This lens truly carves the perfect picture. During my first shoot with this lens, I had fallen in such love with it, I didnt remove it trhought the full job. Normally I use a 35, 50, and 85 lens. Mostly 35 and 85. On my last shoot I didnt even want to grab my 85. It was that damn good. Tamron should be getting a lot more love than it has for this lens. Anyone who complains about the chromatic aberration is just trying to find flaws. It is sooooo easy to fix now a days it shouldnt even matter. I rarely even had a problem with purple fringing with this lens to begin with. I had to fix maybe 10 out of the 50 photos I did for aberration and it took ONE click. Slow autofocus... yes.... if you are a sports shooter or a race car shooter this lens is not for you... but why would it be? This lens isnt for that. If it had those two things down it would be the perfect lens and it would cost 2k not 500.00. With that being said, the autofocus was perfectly fine for me shooting people and I didnt even think about it. Again, just wanted everywhere out there in this world of amazon to know how great this lens is and if you are considering purchasing it I would say dive in. I love it compared to the sigma. I find the sigma overrated and wildly expensive for what you get. Also it feels cheap. This feels like you own gold in your hands. Compared the nikon 1.8- crushes it. Now the nikon 35 1.4 is a different story as it cost i think 1k more than this lens. But i will say that the nikon is not worth that much more. If that 1.4 was an a+ this lens is an a-. It is honestly that close.

I chose this lens over a Sigma 35mm and I am so glad I did! First image taken with it on my Canon 6D and IT IS PERFECTION!

1) sharp as hell - SAME sharpness as Sigma 35 art on close distances and EVEN more sharp at further. 2) very light 3) pretty beautiful 4) vc WORKS as it should - 2-3 Stops ( Ive had 3 !! copies 85 vc - if VC on image were soft (at my Highest bar, for rest of people there were fine)) 5) MACRO it goes there 6) weather resistance cons 1) disgusting moving( its go outside and inside while focusing - like turtles head ) front element -whats NOWHERE mentioned (to my taste) 2) CA could be less of them - yet theres no more of them than at sigma ( Ive had sigma art with my canon , and Nikon systems).

This lens? This lens? Spectacular. It really is. For what you pay for this lens youre getting something that does fall short of CaNikons top of the line 35mm offerings. Its obviously not on par considering its less than half the price of the Canon 35mm F1.4L but, considering not only do you receive stellar image quality but 3 stops of Vibration Compensation (which is somewhat rare at this price range.) The lens barrel is plastic but its a solid plastic and it doesnt feel like something thats going to break any time soon, if ever. Ive read reviews that call this lens "heavy" but I personally like the heft. Its reassuring and lends itself to a more premium feeling lens as opposed to incredibly light, cheap feeling lenses. Like the Canon 50mm 1.8. As far as image quality goes, this lens produces excellent images that are sharp in the center past 2.8 and reasonably sharp wide open. (Lenses generally perform better the more you stop them down.) Contrast is good, not as contrasty as higher end Canon, Nikon and Leica lenses, but again, this lens costs a fraction of what most of those cost, AND it has vibration compensation. Which, in my experience is excellent. I shot some pictures at a concert in horrible lighting conditions and I opened up the lens to f2.8 and shot at shutter speeds as slow as 1/20th, and this lens managed to produce quality, sharp, blur minimal images. There are very few lenses on the market that can compete with the Tamron 35mm f1.8 VC as far as value goes aside from perhaps the Sigma Art series. Again stellar lens, I dont really have any other complaints with the lens.
