I just received this lens today and I absolutely love it! I am using it on my Nikon D3300 and it is much better than the kit lens that came with the camera. With this lens attached my camera is still a very reasonable size and easy to hold and use. The manual focus ring on the front of the lens is reasonably large, about 3/8" wide. It has ridges on it so it is very easy to find with my fingers (without looking) and turn. Manual focusing with this lens is very easy, clear, and sharp. It is not like some lenses which have a very narrow band between being focused and not focused. The focus point is really easy to see so manual focusing is a joy. I dont know if it is because of the lens or this camera, but with the camera set on autofocus I can still easily adjust the focus manually if I wish to change it just a bit. Automatic focusing with this camera and lens is very clear and sharp also. The lens shade reverses and fits snugly over the lens with the lens cap in place. I had tried an 18-300mm brand name lens for this camera and was not happy with it. I am super happy with this lens and expect it will be the only lens I use on this camera. You could not go wrong with this lens!

There were two things that concerned me when I purchased this lens; the autofocus function and image quality. The other lenses I own are all Nikon but for the price I was willing to gamble on this Tamron offering and if it didnt meet with my approval then I could always send it back. Well, both my concerns were for naught. This lens focuses very fast at least as fast as my Nikon lenses and possibly even faster. Ive noticed no discernible difference in image quality between this Tamron and my Nikon lenses and the utility of this lens is the best thing. No more changing lenses at a dusty ballpark. I can take photos in the dugout then shoot a play at second base the next instant all without changing lenses. Ive been wanting this lens (or its predecessor) for years and now that Ive got it I could kick myself for waiting so long. Some of the other reviews mentioned that this wasnt a U.S. market lens but that is NOT the case my lens had a sticker on the box indicating it was manufactured for the U.S. market and I went to Tamrons website and registered it.

So happy that I purchased this lens! I have been carrying two lenses around forever, always seeming to have the wrong one attached when I needed it the most. This lens is lightweight, produces sharp pictures, zooms easily, vibration free setting. Love it! Pictures equal my original Nikon lenses. 6-year warranty

I did extensive research on this lens before purchasing and am extremely satisfied with the lens. There are some good and bad reviews on this lens online and on YouTube but I found a lot more good reviews then bad. I have a Nikon D3300 and am fairly new to really understanding photography and camera settings. I now shoot in aperture priority mode whereas before I only used auto settings when taking pics. I have used my camera for several months and wanted a more versatile lens for shooting outdoor photography in the beautiful Northwest where I live. I found my 18-55 kit lens to not have the zoom I wanted for certain shots yet didnt like the idea of switching lenses so I wanted a good all around lens and didnt want to spend a bunch right now. I do also own the Nikon 35 mm lens so I have a great low light and portrait lens when I need that. This lens though allows me to be able to capture more shots from both near and far and for $200, this lens rocks as far as Im concerned. I felt the build quality is plenty fine and the picture quality seems great. Ive seen multiple folks suggest the best images are taken between F8-F11 but shots in higher F stops look great too. I realize you can buy better quality lenses but for $200 and a lens that has this range, you just cant beat that value and enjoyment!

Purchased lens for use with Nikon D7100, 300, and D90 cameras. Lens provides a good alternative to having to carry several lenses when you just want the freedom of walking around and taking photos without the hassle of a large camera bag and having to change lenses. This lens is not a replacement for my primes(35mm, 50mm, 90mm, etc) but rather a convenient substitute for a walk around town or along the river. I am just an amateur that loves to shoot an the lens works for me.

Love this lens!!! I lost my kit lens for my Nikon D3100, which was a nice little lens, but its range was 18-55mm. So I decided to replace it with this size, 18-200mm range. It performs beautifully. Id recommend this to anyone looking for a Nikon-quality lens at a much better price. Still havent found my kit lens, but having this one enables me to take full range of pictures.

I dont claim to be an expert on photography, but Ive been involved with it for more years than I care to remember. This is not my first Tamron lens, so I had no qualms about buying a third-party lens provider - especially Tamron - since Ive not had any negative experiences with their lenses. Quite honestly, I bought mainly for price. I shoot a lot of photos and my main lens is a Nikon 18-105mm which is not a stellar lens, but quite adequate and produces really good photos. Ive found over the years that the 105mm end was running a little short on the reach that I needed. I looked at the Nikon 18-140mm, but still too shallow. 200mm was just right for me. I picked this Tamron 18-200mm based on price, size & weight, and vibration compensation. This lens exceeded my expectations. It works flawlessly coupled to my Nikon D5500. Im quite satisfied. It focuses every bit as quickly (and more quietly I might add) as my Nikon 18-105mm and image rendering, to me, is every bit as good - a tad bit better in my opinion, than my Nikon lens. $200 is still considered a tab bit amount of money, but not really when youre talking lenses. So, comparing this with a lot of other lenses wouldnt be fair. However, all things considered, this is a really good lens for a really good price. I have no regrets and am quite satisfied.

Great lens i use this on my d7100 and works great for all around lens. I even did some video shooting and kept a good image quality. I have a 35mm a 50mm and a 70-300 lens and this lens work great with the kit i have. I would definitely recommend to purchase

Background: Im a beginner and my camera is a Nikon D3000 with only a kit lens before this purchase. The Tamron 18-200mm not only replaced my kit lens but it gave me flexibility. The kit lens was very limited in use. This has allowed me to not only extend my range it also better at low light. Focus is about as quick as the kit lens. I have not tried any other brand of 18-200mm or any lens for that matter so i can only compare it with the kit 18-55mm. And so far I am very pleased with this purchase. I just found that when using a tripod that i have to turn off the VC function of the lens. But the VC is very capable when shooting handheld even at night. I added a photo i took using this lens. i shot it handheld 1/8 shutter at 800iso and photo came out nice with no noticeable shake. My only concern is that i hope this lens will last because unlike the nikon brand kit, the mount on this lens is made of plastic not metal. But otherwise im very much pleased.

Great value! I bought this for my Nikon D5100 DSLR as a general-purpose lens that can do good macro close-ups, portraits and some telephoto work. Pros: Good range of focal length, accurate autofocus, compact and light, and a great price Cons: Lens is slow (aperture), and inevitably at this price the images seems a bit soft. Overall - recommended!
