Tamron AF 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II VC All-in-One Zoom for Nikon APS-C Digital SLR

Used on a Nikon D3300 DSLR body. Good lens for a great price. As is typical for this type of zoom at this price point it is neither the fastest lens nor the sharpest, however, its hard to complain considering all that you do get for a very low price (plus the long warranty period by Tamron that is included with the USA model). If youre not making a living by selling your photos and simply want a good, solid, dependable piece of glass for your camera this is a really nice travel lens for cheap. There will no doubt be other reviewers that say this lens isnt as good as a Nikon this or that or a super-fast prime, but lets be realistic here. This lens is basic piece of camera hardware at a basic price and expectations should be kept in line with that fact. Comparing it to lenses that cost 4 or 5 times as much (or more) is not fair or helpful. Thats like saying a Ford F-250 pickup truck doesnt measure up to the quality or performance of a Ferrari Portofino. Duh.

I got this lens for video use. I needed a lens that could do both wide angle and get a tight zoom without the need for changing lens. The build quality is okay for the price youre paying. Low light performance is mediocre when zoomed in for still shots, but for what I use it for its really not a big factor. Image quality is acceptable for outdoor use during the daytime, but suffers a bit in low-light situations. Overall its not a bad lens for what it can do and its price point. You can get better lens that offer the same capabilities as this lens, but youre going to pay three or four times as much for them. This lens offers a very favorable value for money ratio. For video, where image quality isnt paramount this a lens worth having.

I purchased this lens to take photos of my daughters college volleyball games. Volleyball can be difficult to shoot due to the lighting conditions and continuous action, but this lens has been up to the task. For the price, I realized that I wasnt getting a "high end" lens and there have been times where the lens has had a hard time focusing given the action, background, and lighting. I absolutely love the versatility since the lens is an 18-200 as I do not have to exchange lenses as often. For the price, an excellent buy!

This is a nice lens for the price. It has a good zoom as well as wide angle. Ive never bought any brand other than Nikon before. I have 2 problems with it, 1 is that while focusing, sometimes the optics will "jump" and I have to refocus, and 2, when I use the full zoom, my images are not clear and crisp. I found that if I zoom just shy of the full capability it is fine. Not sure if its just my lens or if this is something everyone else experiences.
