Its a great lens, very sharp, beautifully built. I loved it. Unfortunately, I had to return it. I had two problems: (1) the AF system just stopped working. To fix this, I had to remove the lens and putting it back on the camera. By turning the camera off and on again did not work. This may have happened like 10 times during my trip to Italy (~2 weeks) (2) sometimes the lens would overexpose by a LOT. Similar to a "sticky aperture blades" problem. Again, to fix this, I needed to take the lens off. Firmware issues? I cleaned the contacts and everything, but still, the problem was quite recurring. Hopefully this was only a bad copy, because I plan to re-purchase the lens very soon.

Just got this for the d500. This lens is absolutely ridiculously good. Very well built, except the plastic threads. Vc is incredible easy to do shots at 1/4 shutter speed. Insane value. Sharp and gorgeous. 6 year warranty. A steal at 500$. Best thing is its coating and transmissive capabilities. You can shoot straight into the sun without losing contrast, almost no flare or ghosting, almost no ca at all. The stepper motor is fast, accurate, and quite. The new tamrons and Sigmas are just insane right now, no reason to buy Nikon glass anymore. Tamron knocked it out of the ball park.

Easily one of the best crop lenses made for 2017. Tamron hit it out of the ballpark with this one. Specifically on the Canon side, the af sound for using cameras like the 70D, 80D, 6D Mark 2 and 5D Mark IV with dual pixel....silent. Amazing lens.
