First off, great lens. Fantastic at macro, great for portrait. If you want a Sony lens with stabilization and fast auto focus, this is the right choice. But you cant buy lenses from Amazon anymore. You HAVE to buy lenses through B&H now. Im not going to give a product less than a 5-star rating just because Amazon (not a 3rd party seller, Amazon itself) sold me a broken and clearly used product as new. People in the photography community know to never buy lenses through Amazons 3rd party sellers because of the scams (Google it, its very rampant and theres a few well-known kinds of high-ticket item scams out there through Amazon 3rd party sellers). And I thought that buying new items through Amazon proper would be safe. Nope. Amazon sent me the lens. The body could not talk to the electronics in the lens, and the lens would not even manual focus. I inspected the lens and saw dust on the last lens element, and then checked the first lens element (the lens that faces the sensor), and saw a finger smudge and more dust. I checked online and found that the lens hood and a protective reinforced bag should have came with the lens and it did not. Unfortunately I had a wedding gig coming up so I didnt have that lens available for the job. So that cost me a little bit. In short, GREAT lens. Cant recommend it enough. But you cant buy lenses and other high-ticket photography items through Amazon Prime anymore. They are selling used items as new.

the image quality is just shocking. it took me a little while to learn how to use it correctly, but compared tot he sony 30 mm macro, well, there just inst a comparison. I could add a 100 amazing photos that I am so proud of, but this one highlights both the clarity of focus, note the fibers on the blossoming petals, and the gorgeous, ridiculous bokeh.

Not quite what I expected in a macro lens. I much prefer a Canon 100mm. Auto focus on this is extremely slow. A lot of hunting and searching. Manual focus is very different and takes time to get used to on this lens. I’ll be keeping it but it is a lot of money for something I’m not totally happy with.

Bought as an open-box deal through Adorama on Amazon. I saved a lot of money that way. Adorama provided a 6-month warranty. The lens is first quality. The design of the AF/MF "switch" is a bit strange. You move the focus ring towards the lens or away from it to switch. Once you understand that, it works very well. This is a full-frame lens, but it works very well on a cropped-frame A6xx or NEX camera. Its quite large but feels right mounted on the camera.

I Love This Lens. It is incredibly sharp and an amazing build. Seems very strong. Very fast/responsive auto focus and love the front ring for manual as well. It has an intuitive design and functionality. It has quickly become my favorite lens.

so far this thing is awesome!! I have the sony a7ii and this is a perfect match. unless there is low light then this thing hunts for focus like a hungry hungry bear. I have the camera set up to eye focus on a back button and that is very nice. super crisp images, beautiful dof and becoming my favorite goto lens for portraits. worth every penny if you can afford a lot of light. otherwise you will run low on patience waiting for this thing to lock focus. the macro setting is a great thing to mess with as well.

On my Sony A7ii (full frame), this lens is as sharp as or even sharper than my Zeiss 55mm f1.8! When I had a Canon 60D, one of my favorite lenses was the 70-200mm f1.8 because of the short depth of field and nice bokeh. I even considered getting the Sony 70-200 but even the f4 lens seemed too expensive. With this Sony 90mm f2.8 lens, I get a very similar effect as with the Canon 70-200 so Im no longer looking for a lens in this focal length for my a7ii. As and added bonus, Im able to take macro shots with this lens. This is now my favorite lens. Of course, at 90mm, its not my walk around lens due to its magnification. But for portraits, its the lens Ill use from now on. My 55mm lens might not see as much use in the future.

A very versatile lens for the money. Despite what people are saying about this lens, its not that heavy. Easy to carry around in a small pack. Ive used it for macro, portrait, and landscape photography. The results for all have been quite good.

This lens is exquisite! The detail on 1:1 macro shots is impeccable, capturing all the detail of what you are shooting. Ive predominantly used this as a portrait lens and detail and depth are perfect. I would recommend this lens to anyone. Ive included a few macro shots for example.
