I was waiting for this lens since the Sony Alpha 7 was announced. I do enjoy the optical performance of the 70-200G Lens, but I thought it would be better suited for more specific uses. Now that this lens is here, I am glad to say that this is a welcome addition to the lineup. Compliments the A7 series like the 18-200LE for the Alpha x000 cameras. The lens performs well, given its native limitations. And the price, it does not break the bank like the tag for the 70-200G lens, especially since it has a 10x range. Very handy when traveling and despite the weight (not a boulder that some people might suggest, but it is more like some portable hard drives), it is a good balance on the Sony A7 II. The balance may be the same for the original 7, 7R & 7S. Image stabilization is nice, especially when paired with the in-body stabilization of the A7 II. Depending on how your camera is set up, barrel distortion and chromatic aberration is controlled for the most part, and shouldnt bring much of a challenge for your edits. Aperture is not constant (3.5 at 24mm, 6.3 at 240mm), but it doesnt make me fiddle with shutter speed or ISO much. It would take over a year for Sony to compliment the A7 series with a true long range full frame zoom lens, but as I have stated before, it is a much welcome addition to the E-mount full frame selection.

Very good all-around wide-to-tele lens if you dont want to carry multiples. A little on the heavy side for an A7s body but not onerous. Plenty sharp enough through much of the range. I use it a lot.
