I have about 8 APS-C Sony lenses for my a6500 but this is the one that stays on my camera most of the time. Why? 1-It is the perfect size and weight lens for the camera. Very well built. 2-It is sharp and the colors are vivid with this lens. 3-It is so versatile as it is fast enough for most indoor events (its hard to stop down much lower than f 4.0 and get adequate depth of field for groups and events) and makes framing shots on the go easy. 4-It looks great on the camera. If I could keep only one lens for my a6500, this would be it.

Pretty sharp lens. Nice soon range and although large it is not too large. Using on my A6000 and its great. If you use the built in flash this will cast a shadow on lower half of picture so you would need to use an external shoe mount flash to raise it higher. Then again todays sensors practically see in the dark so I dont use flash hardly anymore anyway.

This high rating applies only to my second copy of this lens. My first copy was awful and returned. After several months, I got the courage to try again and Im glad I did. Very sharp with great color and pop at the wide end. A little soft at the long end but ok. I shoot a lot at 24mm equiv. and seldom longer than 70mm equiv. so this lens works great for me on the A6500 and would get 5 stars within this focal range. The lens is not too large and handles well.

An excellent lens, and useful zoom range. The detail, color and overall "pop" of pictures taken with this lens make it worth every penny. After cycling through this and other lenses I have for the NEX, I dont even have to look at the EXIF tags to see which lens it was when reviewing the shots. It makes some of the others (particularly the 18200LE look positively dull and washed out in comparison. After a firmware update (NEX6 1.02), focus is lightning fast. Construction is top notch, it definitely has a high quality feel, and the zoom is silky smooth. This will definitely be my go-to lens from now on.

This lens is absolutely clinically sharp and has Zeiss color rendition with great optical stabilization. The one and only thing I find less than perfect is the fact that this expensive lens is F4 at best. Pay close attention to how much light you have available for shooting with this lens. IE, outside wonderful, inside not so wonderful without tons of light.

This lens is a bit perplexing. I did a lot of research before ordering it, but was still unprepared for what arrived. My first copy had an obvious flaw that rendered one side of the image as mush, but not in every shot, and it changed sides depending on focal length and focus. Fortunately, my retailer was happy to exchange it, at their expense, for another copy, and this one is much better. However, depending on the situation, focal length, focus point, and f stop, it can still have soft corners and slightly soft edges. Of course, this can be said for many zoom lenses, which by their very nature demand a certain level of compromise. But, the lens also has many good points as well, and this is why Im keeping it. First, the large majority of the center portion of the image is exceptionally sharp, and the corners and edges tend to sharpen up nicely by stopping down just to f 5.6 of f 8.0. Second, its got a wonderfully useful focal length range, from a fairly wide angle to a moderate telephoto (24-105mm equivalent in 35mm terms). Third, it has a reasonably close minimum focus distance. And finally, the contrast and color from this lens can help produce stunning photos. So, is this lens for you? I think that depends on several factors. First, its not cheap. Even a used copy is rather pricey. 2nd, some folks cant accept anything less than the kind of near perfect corner to corner sharpness that you often get with a high quality prime lenses (single focal length), and those folks should steer clear of this lens. Well, I weighed all that, and even though I have shot professionally in the past, I only shoot for fun these days, and Ive been paring down my gear to the bare minimum, so the Sony A6000 with this 16-70mm Sony Zeiss lens gives me a fantastic all-in-one single lens solution for my basic walk around photography. If you decide to buy it, be sure and find a dealer with a good exchange/return policy, and then do a lot of testing when you receive it. It may seem like a bit of a hassle, but Ive found it to be easily worth while for the results Im getting. Happy trails!~

Works fine for me. Seems massively overpriced but I love the a6000 and this is the best choice for a normal-use lens thats better than the kit. I think the reviewers who say its not sharp at the edges are probably right. But its way better than the kit and as I say, the only choice.

I love this lens! I have 3 lenses for my Sony a6500, but this is the one that stays on a majority of the time. Its so crisp and clear, especially for portraits.

My main lens for my a6500, use it mainly for shooting videos on the Zhiyun Crane gimbal. Light weight and isnt bulky, versatile for traveling.

I love the lens. It is expensive but it is worth it. Mates perfectly to my new Sony A6300. And , Oh, by the way, the service was also excellent.
