Ive had this lens for a couple months and have used it multiple time for exterior landscapes and interior shots with great success. Yes, there is evidence of vignetting and barrel distortion for some shots (especially architectural) at the widest 10mm setting, but this can be resolved by adjusting to around 12mm, depending on the subject. Build quality of this lens, comprised of a metal housing, is among the best in the Sony lineup. I coupled my lens with an ultra thin B+W Pro XS-Pro Digital UV filter for general use and ultra thin Hoya Pro1 Digital MC PL-C circular polarizing filter for exterior landscapes to avoid vignetting which is common with using standard (thicker) size filters with wide-angle lenses in this range. Both of these filters work fantastic with the lens. For the price, I would have preferred an f/2.8 aperture capability over f/4, but I knew what I was getting and have been thoroughly pleased with the build and performance of this lens. I wouldnt hesitate to purchase the Sony SEL 10-18mm lens again and wish you success in your decision.

This is the lens that stays on my Sony a6500 90% of the time. I was worried the f4.0 would limit low-light, indoor shooting, but teh a6500s excellent high ISO response mitigates that worry. For vlogging, this is one of teh best lenses available. The closest thing Ive found, and maybe a little better if you forgive the Lumix G7/G85 awful autofocusing, is the Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8. For Sony shooters, dont think twice; buy this lens! Autofocus lightning fast, super-sharp, and lightweight enough to work well on a gimbal. One of my favorites!

This is why you buy a mirrorless camera: A compact, sharp ultra-wide angle lens with optical stabilization and constant aperture of F4.0 that only weighs 0.5 lb! Enough said.

I love the crispness (sweet spot around f/8 - f/11) and this lens has great range. Its only f/4 so not ideal for astro photography, but thats fine. Perfect for landscapes & Oceanscapes

I love taking wide angle photos, but not of landscapes only. I use them for closeups, to use leading lines and, sometimes, for the distortion. This lens delivers on all counts. It is lightweight, compact and has a fast focus. I love this lens and have paired it with the Sony 18-105mm for a great photo combination.

Ive owned four of Sonys Nex camera so far, the Nex-5n, the Nex-7, the Nex-6, and recently the ILCE-6000. I truly enjoy the smaller foot print, the live view on the LCD screen as well as the view finder, and the fact that I can nurture my toy addiction while working on my photography skills. I am not a professional photographer by any means, I started by taking pictures of my 4 kids and now Ive continued to try and improve more by becoming more proficient and low-light photography indoors and outdoors. Im not a pixel-peeper, so my review is not a technical one. The other lenses I own are the original SEL18200 (truly love that lens, but you need light for it to shine, and I feel for the range and quality you get it is priced appropriately), the Zeiss SEL2418 (which is an amazing lens, but arguable expensive), and now this SEL1018. What I have noticed is that the SEL1018 is the first lens that gives me the focal range I need for indoor shooting. For birthday parties, or when their are groups of people, I can get the whole group in the picture without having to push up against a wall. It is also very nice to have a range to zoom - it just makes framing things that much easier, especially when you are also interacting with people and dont want to take minutes to set up and compose a shot. The F4 aperture is not considered fast, but this lens has OSS and I find it fast enough for indoor shooting in moderate light. I waited a long time to buy this lens, primarily due to cost, but also because I had the SEL18200 which gave me the wide angle I thought was good enough and the 16mm Sony prime lens was out there and fairly inexpensive. Im getting a very high number of keepers with this lens, the shots produced are really very nice, the focal range is great for indoors and allows me to zoom to compose quickly, and the F4 aperture is good enough especially considering OSS. I should have bought this lens a long time ago.

A great lens to take with you on any trip. I like landscapes, taking shots of buildings (with people in front) and food. This lens is perfect for the street, as well as the mountains. I can get close to my food so I can bug everyone with the delicious dishes that I eat. The autofocus is fast, the range that you can see is good and it allows in plenty of light. So when it comes to travel there are two types of "general" photographs - the places you went (memorials, landmarks, etc) and the people you went - take photos of both - everyone has a London Bridge, but not everyone has your kids in front of it-- better shot.

I use this lens on a NEX-6 and its a great compromise between size and performance. I havent used the lens with flash, but a lot for landscape and street shots and I love the lens. It delivers great JPEGs with build in camera correction showing nice colors and saturation. RAW shooting with the lens is giving all post post processing advantages, but also shows CAs and distortion, easy correctable. Auto focus is fast and the focal length 10-18mm, which is about 15-27mm compared to FF, is my preferred landscape range. Most parts are not metal, but that reduces weight and the lens doesnt feed cheap. I have used the lens a lot for hikes and outdoor activities during the last 6 month with high humidity and high temperature and so far it worked flawless. ++ sharp center and good corners wide open, corners improve stepping down to F5.6 ++ fast reliable AF ++ supports DMF (direct manual focus to change focus manually with focus ring after AF) ++ good build quality ++ has a focus and a zoom ring for manual use ++ good lens hood included ++ not heavy - focus by wire limitations for long exposures (no end position for infinite focus, which makes it hard to focus using long exposure time) - a little bit high prices I compared this lens with the Tokina Pro DX 11-16 on a Sony A65 and overall I love this lens for its compactness on the NEX-6 even if doesnt fit into a pocket, but its a great and lightweight set for traveling and outdoor activities with a small backpack.

Love this lens! Lovely wide angle at the 10 mm end (remember, 10 mm on a crop sensor is actually 15 mm full frame) Using this on my a6400. Such a great combo. My only complaint is the F4 aperture. Wish it was faster. But... What would that do to the already hefty price tag? On the fence? Dont be. Hard to believe that you would be dissatisfied.
