I don’t normally leave reviews but i just wanted to help out any fellow photographers. I got this lens and loved it! Takes great pictures and was super happy but then just a few months later it wasn’t working right. Hadn’t ever been dropped or anything. I take extremely good care of my gear. I took it into a trusted camera repair shop and they said the motor was completely blown. I was so sad. Just a few months after i bought it. I contacted the seller and they said since it was past a certain time of purchase they couldn’t help which was also very frustrating. If you’re wanting to invest in a good lens buy it from sigma, NOT amazon. Maybe it was just this lens but I wouldn’t trust these sellers. You just don’t know if they are are selling trustworthy lenses or if they will go out within a few months. Also, another reason to buy from sigma is that way if something does happen weird and faulty sigma can help. Just trying to help you out before you buy this lens.

Before I took the plunge and bought this lens, I was a total Canon snob. I didnt think that there was anything superior to a canon lens. Before purchasing this, my favorite lenses were the Canon 135mm f/2L and the 50mm f/1.2L. I love how creamy and beautiful the depth of field was on both lenses when shooting wide open. And, to me, both were very sharp. But, after receiving the Sigma 35mm and doing some micro adjustments, I realized that this lens FAR surpasses any Canon lens I own. It is SHARP. Holy crap its sharp. Ive used a lot of different lenses and this lens produces the sharpest and most visually pleasing portraits. I tend to shoot at f/2 for portraits with this lens, but even when I open it up more, its still super sharp. If youre on the line about buying a Sigma over a Canon, dont be. Definitely buy this lens right now. From now on, I will be looking at Sigma ART lenses before I even think about buying another L series lens. Super happy with this purchase.

I have only just started taking my camera off automatic and experimenting with lenses when I had children. So this is an amateur review. I have been looking for a great portrait lens to capture my forever moving children, and this is it. I own several canon lenses now, and this is my first Sigma. Its by far the most superior lens I have in my collection. I honestly didnt know that a lens could take such a crisp photo. The colors are vivid, the bokeh is beautiful, the focus is fast, smooth and accurate. It performs very well indoors. What I feel this lens has done is taken my photography to another level. I absolutely love the photos it produces. Just as well, people have been asking me left and right to take their holiday photos and newborn photos since I started using this lens. I highly recommend it.

My favorite lens by far! It has not come off of my camera in months. I use it for family photos, my childrens photos and even my blog. Its fantastic! The 1.4 is incredible and such a perfect blur, yet it also focuses very sharply, I am impressed. Feel free to message me on my photography page for any questions! Im happy to help.

I bought this lens 3 years ago. It quickly became my absolute favorite lens. The sharpness is divine and the bokah is gorgeous. One of the first photos I ever took with this lens was so sharp and beautifully detailed that I could zoom in and see a perfect reflection in the kids eyes. Now 3 years later I started having some front focusing issues. I calibrated the lens to my camera (it took about 30 minutes to get it perfect) and have had no issues since. Sigma really knocked it out of the park with this lens and because I have loved it so much I have invested more in the Art lenses. You wont regret buying this lens!

Sigma Art lenses are all top-notch lenses, and the 35mm is no exception. It is comfortably wide on a full frame camera, and provides a good normal field of view on my APS-C cameras as well. It focuses quickly and quietly, even though it is a 3rd party lens. This lens is constructed beautifully, and is a pleasure to use. My only complaint is that theyre it is a bit on the large and heavy side, and that, combined with the fact that it isnt weathersealed, makes this more of a studio lens. That being said, theyre solidly built, and I would only hesitate to use this lens in rainy or severely dusty conditions. Any concerns about weight or weathersealing are quickly forgotten when I see the images that this lens produces. Of course they are sharp and contrasty, and the colors are rich and warm. When wide open on a full frame camera, this lens produces very lovely bokeh, so works very well for a wide portrait lens. With landscapes its razor sharp and distortion is minimal. All of it means this is one of my favorite lenses.

Thee sharpest lens I have ever used. I read reveiws of how it compares fo canon L glass and on my canon 80D I can confirm that this is a sharp and fast lens. More detail than my 100mm canon macro lens

So this is my first professional lens I have purchased. I did a lot of research when getting this lens, and I am not disappointed. The sigma 35mm art lens is a amazing prime lens. Since I have a Canon 80D Camera(Which is a APS-C) The lens is more of a 56mm lens, but that is what I was going for. I’ve been meaning to replace my canon 50mm F/1.8 lens for a while now and this lens is it.Your can take amazing portraits with this lens, with the subject coming in very sharp and smooth. If your getting this lens, your probably going to be using the f/1.4. For low light situations, which is what I use it for. You won’t make a mistake buying this lens. I think everyone should have this lens for the camera bag.

I was so excited for this lens because i saw such amazing reviews and I researched a lot before purchasing it, but it was legit nothing like what i expected. My high hopes for this lens went down the drain and maybe it’s because i had a bad lens. The lens looked brand new but the lens had some weird issue whenever I was in certain lighting it would over bright it or lessen the brightness. Even when i changed my IOS it still did the same thing, if my ios was low it would make the image lower and if my ios was high it would brighten it even more. Also the vignetting in the photos was nice for some photos but eventually it just got very irritating and started ruining my images, even when i went to photoshop & lightroom to fix the vignetting it was just impossible to fix it. Anyways if you want to purchase this lens, purchase with caution and if you love the a lot of vignetting then by all means this is good for you. I returned it because it seemed like i wasted 700+ dollars on a lens which wasn’t even worth it.

Worst lens. Buy a Canon version. With this lens you never know if youre going to get an in focus lens or not in focus and mine was totally out of focus. Even using the thing that helps adjust it didnt work, its just not sharp. Total waste of money. I love the 35 but get it in a Canon or Nikon version.
