This lens is a performer. I have never shot the sony 1.4 but I dont feel like there could be $700 of improvement in this lens.

At first I was skeptical about buying but I knew I wanted a 35mm F1.4 for my Sony A7R3. After long research I figured this would be the best most economical option and let me say I was wrong.. This lens performs TOP NOTCH... It works very fast (not as fast as SONY GM lenses) but if you change the reactive settings on your Sony camera itll make a difference. This lens is on my camera 70% of the time when Im shooting events. I am now spoiled with the F1.4 aperture. I refuse to purchase any F4.0 lenses.. This is a wonderful buy. I definitely recommend.

The product build quality is out standing. Sigma will always shine in this area. The quality of the lens is also great. I feel that the lens is a bit large and heavy tho.

This lens like all Art series renders beautiful images. However, it does not grab focus with the Sony A7riii. I dont know about other Sony cameras but 2 out of 10 images it just does not want to catch focus. I am pressing the button on a stationary subject and the shot wont get taken because the image is blurry. On the rare occasion that it does grab focus the images are great. As a pro, I cant recommend this lens to anyone making a living with photography. It is just horrible at pulling focus. I dont know if a firmware update will fix the problem but its not usable as it is.

I absolutely love this lens. The quality of the materials are top notch and it’s ability to autofocus as a third party lens is on par with the Sony lenses. The only criticism I have is that this lens is large. If you’re looking for a workhorse lens this is for you but if you’re wanting a walk around lens I might suggest the Zeiss 35mm 2.8.

I am so disappointed with this lens. I wanted to love it and NOT have to spend twice as much on another 35mm lens. I had horrible focusing issues with this lens. A lot of the time it would not focus, or take much longer to focus than my other lenses. I had done a lot of research before buying this lens and saw the reviews on the focusing issue that some had but there were also so many other reviews that were amazing so I decided to give it a try. I am really disappointed this lens didnt work out for me.

I love this len , actually is not that big, of course if you compare with canon 50 mm 1.4 is big but still ok for me, sharp len, only dowside is video auto focus, hope they can update firmware to fix this problem
