I must have great luck with Sigma lenss. I have the 17-50 F2.8 and now this 30mm F1.4 both are excellent lens, very sharp, perform great on my D500. The Bokeh on this lens is just spectacular. I have the Nikon 30mm 1.8 DX lens, this Sigma lens is way sharper and much better build quality, will be selling the Nikon lens.

While a relatively new photographer, I cant completely judge the performance of this lens to the degree as others. However, I knew I wanted something with a huge aperture and something that would give me a 50mm focal length on my cropped sensor. The lens delivers on both of these bullet points. I can achieve beautiful Bokeh when desired and I can get great indoor pictures when necessary. What drives me nuts though is that the Autofocus seems to hunt, CONSTANTLY even when on a tripod. If I dont do a really good job manually focusing the subject first, the lens will never AF it. Either Im just not experienced to enough to understand why, or there is a problem with the lens. For the record Im using it with the a Rebel T5i. Unknown to me, even though the lens seems to claim to have a physical EF mount, apparently, firmware prevents it from working with anything but a EF-S mount. Regardless, when I upgrade to a full frame camera, Ill be selling this one anyway.

This lens is a beautiful piece of optic, all made in Japan just the way they know how to do it. Very silent motor, feels very solid. Like some other reviewers are saying, leave the flash alone, or forget about it all together. I though about for some time getting this lens, I am not sure why I wait so long. I also have the Tamron 16-300mm, and three more lenses, but this Sigma lens will be my to go lens from now on.

This lens will treasure beautiful, sharp, crisp images while also giving you the option to get soft, dreamy light ones. The focal length is great for my 80d. I have noticed some slight softening on the edges but nothing drastic. I have had no issues with vignettes at all. The DoF is gorgeous and gives a fantastic artsy feel to ordinary photos.

I see focused, but when I go to review the photo, it is not. Its really bad. It is assumed that if one buys a lens and says it is compatible with your camera. must work and not send sigma to calibrate CANON T6i (It doesnt work)

Its a great lens for the price, but the auto-focus is loud and can be heard on video (sounds like a woodpecker lol). Not a problem when were using a mic at least 6 feet away, but not good for more casual video or close up shots. We have to set a manual focus for that. Good for pictures though, and still happy with the purchase and the value.

I wanted to love the lens but in the end ended up sending it back. The photos just werent as sharp as I was expecting and i felt the autofocus was always just slightly off.

I am having horrible front focusing issues using this lens with my canon rebel t6i. I sent it in to sigma because it seemed to be a calibration issue (had to pay $30 to insure and ship it there) and when it just got back to me, it seems to still have bad front focusing issues under a 2.5 aperature . I am so frustrated and I am spending time and money stressing about this.

I wont elaborate on optical quality - I am no expert on this. We have had no focusing problems when connected to an EOS-70D. The lens has worked very well for us. My only complaint is that the HSM focusing motor is not as quiet as Canons STM system. We have a STM lens that came with the camera. It is so quiet that no focusing noise is captured by the built-in microphone when filming video. With this Sigma lens, the microphone captures little clicking noises as the lens focuses. If there is loud noise or music in the video, the lens noise will probably not be noticed. However, for a quiet scene or spoken voice, the clicking can be heard in the final video.

In love!!! I have been using this to take very good quality pictures and videos and let me tell you it is so much better than the average kit lens that I started off with! If you are looking for a good lens I good recommend this one if you are looking to up your quality. It came with a lens hood and carrying pouch which is a huge bonus!! You can also achieve some pretty great bokeh and I absolutely have just fallen in love for the blurry background and all of the capabilities of this lens! The only con I found was a noisy focus but you can easily fix that by switching it to manual.
