I am very happy with this lens. It is heavy, but I am using it on a tripod with a Movo GH700 Gimbal head and it works like a charm. The lens is probably one of the sharpest lenses I have ever used, and I own several Canon "L" lenses. It is not the fastest lens in the world, but I knew that when I bought it and so far that has not been a problem. I use it primarily for wildlife photography and it stays zoomed out to the max most of the time, but it is nice to be able to pull it back a little for closer objects. The lock switch operates at all of the primary zoom points and helps keep the lens where you want it. It produces fantastic, sharp images and I think it is well worth the money. My only regret in purchasing this lens is that I did not do it sooner.

My copy is tack sharp right out of the box. So much better/ faster (mechanically) than the Sigma "Bigmos" 150-600 copy. And I will give kudos to Sigma for accepting my out of date "Bigmos" for the free adjustment they offered for two years which had well known auto-focus adjustment problems. Sigma was really courteous and did my job for free even though it was well out of their window for taking care of the original problem. That convinced me to buy and try the new 150-600 Contemporary. Im so glad I did. Its a great lens. Amazon delivered very quickly (I live in Alaska) with their usual aplomb.

After shooting around 2000 shots on my Sigma 150-600 C lens I think it’s an amazing buy! It’s not a fast lens, so you need lots of light. It’s a difficult lens to hand hold and camera shake can be a problem even with OS turned on. However, with a tripod or monopod you can get away with slower shutter speeds. AF is very good with this lens. It snaps quickly to proper focus and rarely hunts for the target. At 600 mm the lens is a bit soft wide open, but at F8 or F11 its very sharp. I’m very pleased with the lens. It’s a bargain when you consider to get this focal length in a Nikon lens you’re talking 10 grand!

Just received it, with a Sigma dock to calibrate it. I must say that i shot just a few pictures after a tedious and exhausting calibration session, but so far, I am happy with it. I believe the sharpness of the photos could be better, since I am used to the sharpness obtained with the L Canon lenses, but for the price, I am OK with it. I will post an update as soon as I use it in my sports sessions, I shoot in (equestrian) Show Jumping events, so that will be THE test for me. I think the focusing speed is OK, accuracy has left me with some doubts (4 stars and not 5... yet) but I must select the proper Focus Mode in my EOS 7d first to have a final opinion. Bottom line: so far, I believe I would buy it again and would suggest to friends not willing to spend a LOT in Top Class L lenses. I am attaching my first shot with the lens...

I bought this lens after seeing the positive reviews and definitely checking the bad ones from customers that were verified purchases. My first impression wasnt so great as when I have the lens out at 600mm the shaking was horrible. I was about to give up when I remembered that I could make some modifications with the USB dock. I made some changes with the software on the focus and OS. What a difference. No more shaking in the viewfinder and the focusing is extremely quicker at 600mm. Is it as fast as a Canon...no. However its not far behind and Ive ended up with a fair amount of photos that Im satisfied with. Im sure that will improve as I get used to holding this heavier beast. Its 3 pounds heavier than my 70-200 f2.8 so its going to take time to get used to or Ill just start using a tripod more often. Honestly, without changing some parameters through the dock I might have returned this.

panning took a little getting used with having the extra focal length, but I have to say this is a great lens. At times I find the auto focus to be a bit slower than I am used to, but it is a lot of lens and understandable. The quality of the pictures is great. I highly recommend this lens, it was a great investment.

First 2 days of using this lens to take wildlife photos, my results were excellent. Tack sharp pics. Fast quiet focusing. Camera (Nikon D7000) and lens combine to a 6 pound package, so I immediately ordered a monopod. I cant imagine hand holding the combo for very long, or very steadily. I am thrilled with this lens. Attached is a picture of a red-bellied woodpecker taken with this lens a day after it arrived.

This could have been priced 3x what it was and still worth the money. Amazing product for very reasonable price. Picture quality fabulous. If the f/stop were a little lower like 4 or 3.5 this would be the perfect telephoto. But to get anything of that sort you need to pay an extra $9000 or so to Canon or whatever. This is by far the best telephoto that has ever been on the market. Colors better than real life, images so sharp I cut myself in Photoshop, what more can I say.

Ive owned the Canon telephotos that cost ten times as much and am I glad to find the Sigma brings ideal quality images at 1/10th the cost. Less weight and bulk makes the Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary easier to carry into the field... 100% happy with and 5 stars... Highly recommended.

Extremely happy with this lens, super sharp since the very first day I attached it to my Canon 5d Mark IV and 5D 5DSR. It is my first non Canon lens and I am amazed at how good it performs, auto focus, color, contrast, sharpness... no need to fix or calibrate it with the USB dock since day one, though I bought the USB dock anyway for the firmware update and customize the fast focus and some menu options. Also for any future update when it needs it. I have used it in airshows, the zoo and other events.. it is really a fantastic lens at a good price. I tested the Sport version for a couple of weeks and compared to this one I prefered the contemporary, much easier to handhold, there are times when a tripod or a monopod are not going to give you so much flexibility when composing your shots., sometimes you need to compose your shots very fast. This lens has given me the opportunity to shoot handhold for hours with no issues, something I cant afford so easy with the Sport version unless I use a tripod or monopod.
