(Please note that my reviews of these three lenses are all the same except for some technical differences) Im no lens guru, and I dont have much of a budget, so these lenses are perfect. Coming from shooting DSLR to the Black Magic Cinema Camera, I was at least familiar with the functionality of these lenses. First thing I shot with them was a wedding and these were the only lenses I used on my camera. It takes a bit of getting used to working with all primes, but, with a t1.5 aperture, its worth giving up the zoom since lighting isnt always the best. I would recommend getting some super-wide angle lenses if you are shooting on a crop sensor like the BMCC as it more than doubles the focal length on these cameras (this one equates to about an 80mm). The lenses are nice and heavy, suggesting a good build, and the focus is smooth. I havent tried them with a follow-focus yet, but, anticipate doing so in the near future. The de-clicked aperture is a nice feature too. It adds a smoothness to changing exposures while shooting that you cannot get with a regular DSLR lens, but, that can also be a problem if you are not paying attention because the aperture ring is easy to bump. That is in no way a complaint, just an observation and an issue I chalk up to user error and must get used to. All in all, I really like these lenses and would recommend them to anyone on a budget. They are what they are, and what they are is an affordable tool to help you tell your story. Im sure there are gear snobs who would frown on these, but, I feel that gear snobbery comes from a lack of vision and skill.

use this lens about 95% of the time! Pros: Cheap grooves for follow focus ring clarity for lower stops Cons: breaths when focusing (if comparing to a zeiss or canon cinema) cheap plastic feel chromatic aberration (extremly prominent)

Great lense. Looks good, feels good, shoots exellent :-) Very happy with the lense. Plastic is very high quality and my concerns with that disappeared once I put this lense on my BMCC. Highly reccomended.

Ok so first let me state that I accidentally bought this instead of the digital photo 35 (I didnt even notice until it was too late to return the lens but I have been reassured that its the exact same despite the click aperture). Now to go back to the lens, I dont really know much about the mechanics or what not but I do know how to use it and love my Sonys peaking level. And this is a fantastic lens with a sharp picture even at 1.4, I absolutely love it and am wanting to get more rokinon lenses!

- Nice cine-style lens for the low budged/indie filmmaker. - Soft wide open, but is very usable by T2, and sharp by T2.8. - Focus and aperture both feature smooth motion. Lens is mostly plastic, so its not the super silky motion of an expensive metal lens. - Obviously, it would be silly to compare to lenses that cost thousands of dollars. If you can afford Zeiss or Canon cinema glass, dont look here.

FANTASTIC! I have a crop sensor camera (60D) so this is pretty much a 50mm and its the PERFECT run and gun lens. My only gripe is that the focus plane is SO narrow things are very often just out of focus. This is to be expected with such a fast lens, and takes a lot of practice to get used to. I would recommend this for the price!

Beautiful product. Works flawlessly with my 60D and C100. I recall reading reviews about the printed (as compared to etched) numbers wearing off, but if you keep your lens clean (as you should), this should not be a problem. Brilliant image. Low light capable. Used in hundreds of hours of interviews in the past 2 years. Eager to purchase another Rokinon product in the near future.

We run a small rental house in Pittsburgh and as we started to get more and more into video we wanted to add cinema lenses to our lineup, but the price of all the other lenses on the market is out of our range. When we came across the Rokinons, we bought the entire set of these lenses (8mm, 14mm, 24mm, 35mm, 85mm) and our own personal experience and the feedback from our customers has been fantastic. Are they as good as the Canon Cinema Primes or Zeiss Cinema Primes? No, of course not, but theyre still really good. When you factor in the price/value factor (keep in mind, you can literally buy two sets of the Rokinon lenses for the cost of one Canon cinema prime) youve got a great deal. Weve used them on a Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 60D, and even the Canon C100 and have been really impressed by the results. We use them with the following items: EzFoto Rail System Follow Focus FF + 15mm Rod Rig Base Plate with Quick Release Plate for HD DSLRs (To adjust the focus) Follow Focus or Zoom Control Color Black (To adjust the exposure). You really cant go wrong with these lenses if youre in the market for cinema glass.

Love love love. Never owned anything other than Canon L series lenses...this is my first 3rd party lens and have had nothing but good results. Great build, great sharpness and contrast. The videos that come out of my 5D mark II and this lens are insane!
