Such a great lens..Have so many micro-third lens, the 12-40, 60 macro, 25mm. and more. This lens blew me away.. So sharp, focus so fast. Could not believe. Have been Olympus user for many years, back to film days. Will add two photos I thought were really good.

For the price and weight, this is a super lens. Its not a professional one you could use to shoot an eagle in flight at sunset or a touchdown across a stadium at night, but if you can work with the F stops it can do, itll get the job done. With the IS on the Olympus OM-D E-M5 I can take clear shots in cloudy daylight at full zoom without a tripod. Some chromatic blurring on high contrast areas at full zoom, but less than Ive seen with other lenses at the same or lower price point. I prefer metal to this ones plastic, but it seems sturdy enough. Its a few hundred less than the Gen 1 version too. Its about half the length and what feels like 1/3 or less of the weight of my Canon 70-200 EF 2.8 which cost much more, yet with the MFT factor gets me to a 600mm equivalent - 3x as far. It would be nice if more of the Olympus and Panasonic MFT lenses used the same filter size. I picked 3 lenses plus the kit, and every one is a different size. At least the smaller filters are less expensive than the full frame lens ones.

This is an excellent lense for wild life shots on bright days. Cons are poor prrformance in low light and loss of image quality (sharpness) at 300. That being said, it is a great lense for the price, and some performance loss is to be expected at this price point. A comparable distance range in a higher end lense is three times the cost, so this is actually my go to lense for distance. Sharpness is consistant up to about 270.

This lens exceeded my expectations. I took some of the best pictures I have ever taken on my recent safari to Africa. It is light weight, focuses fast, and takes a clean sharp image. I highly recommend for anyone looking to build their micro 4/3 system.

I love this lens. I use it on my E-M10 II when I need something longer than the 25mm or 45mm primes. Sometimes...well, most of the time...you just cant move close enough to a subject to get a good shot with a fixed prime lens. With this thing, I can be far enough away to get nice shots of wildlife without disturbing them at all. And Ive gotten some really nice moon shots with it. The quality of the photos that I get from it is great. It does focus a little slow with poor light when zoomed in, but thats expected. Overall, it was an excellent purchase. Well worth the price paid.

This lens lives on my E-M10 now. The reach, image quality and the small size is really amazing, however there are a few minor things that you need to know (they are minor). - The barrel of the lens does extend just a little beyond the base of the E-M10 and on my tripod mount that is enough to block the smooth turning of the zoom ring as it extends up to the lens mount. I resolved this by putting a hose gasket between the base of the camera and the tripod mount but it can be annoying. On the other hand there is really no reason to use the tripod as the lens is long and tends to wobble when fine tuning zoom or focus. - At full zoom the lens can be a little soft and I usually need to go to f8 or higher and keep the shutter speed high. It often forces me to use ISOs of 1600 or a little more.

This lens is amazing. You can shoot truly telephoto shots. In fact, we have taken pictures of airplanes overhead and we could actually see the tail to know what airline was flying. The only issue is that when you are at full telephoto, every little shake is magnified, so you have to steady the camera. We are using it with an Olympus Air, so there is no camera body, and that makes it a little harder to stabilize. But when we can rest it on something, the shots are really, really fantastic. We love it.

Wow what a lens. It may not be quite as good as the PRO version, but at a fraction of the cost we can live with it. It is sharp throughout the zoom range. The only thing missing would be a faster aperture, and a better macro function. As it stands, outstanding closeups are produced using the 300mm setting. This is not the best choice for snapping photos of groups, or indoors, but for sporting events it is up to the task.

Bought this to replace the 4/3 version of this lens. That old lens put out some amazing photos and was the last of the 4/3 lenses I replaced. The problem with that lens is that it was never very good at quick focusing and weighed a ton especially with the adapter on. This new lens is lighter, smaller, and focuses quickly... and I dont like it. The feel of the new lens gives the impression of mediocre quality. It is bare bones and doesnt offer the switch from auto focus to manual focus like the old lens had which was quite useful at times. Moreover, I am underwhelmed at the images its giving me. While I understand that this isnt a pro lens, I was expecting a little more than what its giving me. Images look flat and uninspired with no hint of crispness. If I had to do it again, I wouldnt. I believe I would have been better off getting the 40-150mm f2.8 PRO and a teleconverter. Expensive yes, but I feel it would have been a better deal in the long run than this lens.

Given that every lens is a compromise, within its parameters, this lens is especially sweet! Ive worked professionally and have used equipment ranging from pre-war German Rollies to the latest DSLR stuff. Im now a complete fanboy for Olympus micro 4/3 photography, and without going into a lot of technical jargon (others have done this quite well), I can only say that this lens does not disappoint. Its not perfect, but it does perfectly meet any realistic expectations at this price point.
