I suspect that anyone who is interested in buying this lens has read most of the reviews from places like DPReview. They praise the lens providing the sun is kept out of the picture (i.e., lens flare is a problem with this and essentially all fast super wide angle lenses). I have used the lens to take a few hundred pictures and concur with their findings, have not had problems with lens flare and think that the lens is terrific for an f2.8 super wide angle lens. In using the lens, I have observed that the lens does not seem as large and heavy as many have made out to be. It is about 40% smaller and lighter than an equivalent Canon or Nikon lens and balances well on both my E-M1 and E-M5 mark II. Taking pictures with a super wide angle lens is always a challenge because of the perspective. The Olympus OM-D bodies offer keystone control (i.e., perspective control) which makes taking pictures with this lens much easier. I have set the lens function button on my lens to keystone control and find that it makes the lens a joy to use.

If you have a Panasonic GH5, and you need a wider lense than the Leica 12-35 II; this is the lense for you. Let me just go ahead and say, Yes this is quite Expensive. However, if I could do things again, this would be the first lense I would buy. Heres why: Olympus has made this lense so sharp, its ridiculous. It has great color, and a very solid build. I shoot a lot of realestate interiors and use it for its widest length. There is a little bit of distortion when shooting super wide and when shooting inside buildings. When shooting outside its not as bad. Also, if you are shooting outside change your F Stop to 10 or 11 and literally everything is crystal sharp. Love this lens and super super happy with how it works! It has helped make my videos so much better expectially on the Ronin M

Ive been looking for an amazing super wide lens to do gimbal stabilizer video work with. I have a Zhiyun Weebill Lab that can take some decent weight but is a bit limited in balancing space for front heavy camera setups. My go-to for Cinema EOS and adapted GH cameras has been my Tokina 11-20mm for APSC. With a speedbooster on the GH5, that lens is way too heavy. So I tested out three super wide native MFT mount lenses to replace it for gimbal work, with the Tokina as a baseline to compare all. Overall, its hard to beat the tokina but the Olympus came very close in terms of functionality. Where it falters is weight, zoom ring stiffness and front filter adaptability. The optics are bar non the best of the super wide MFT zooms I tested. However this is the heaviest of them all, making the benefits over the Tokina marginal, but just enough to avoid needing counter weights. Also this lens is a pain to shoot in bright conditions with if you dont want to crank your shutter speed. Youll need to get a filter adapter, since the front element bulges out too much for standard threaded filters. This lens is great for indoor and night time shooting with the GH5S but just doesnt quite cut it for outdoor gimbal work since the goal is to avoid adding more stuff to the front to counter balance. And lastly, the zoom ring. If turning it while its on a gimbal can make the camera roll 90 degrees to the side, its way too tight for running and gunning gimbal work. You can throw off your horizon calibration easily with that. To adjust zoom without pushing the roll axis around, youll need to set down your gimbal and then hold the camera body while turning the zoom ring. Not a great solution either way. So I ended up returning the lens with a heavy heart. I wanted it to work, but in the end it was more cost-efficient to just add counterweights and run with the adapted Tokina 11-20. If 2 out of the 3 above issues werent there, then this would have been a keeper.

Been using this lens for a while, and I LOVE it. A must for 4/3 cameras to get a nice wide focal length. Only gripe I have with this lens is the incapability to add lens filter. Be aware if you have the GH4, or any other bodies that are not Olympus, the lens itself does not come with image stabilization, so keep that in mind!

This lens is the best of the Micro 4/3 wides I found. I tried the Olympus 9-18, Panasonic 7-14 and this. Im not super technical but all I can say is every image came out better looking and none had even a touch of barrel effect. I decided to go back to a fixed lens camera but if I was going to keep my GH4 this would be the first lens I owned.

If you are looking at this lens here, you probably already know what it is, and that it has rave reviews on many photo sites and blogs. Those reviews are accurate. This is an amazing wide angle lens. I have been thrilled with the sharpness and quality of the pictures. This has quickly become my most used lens. Excellent for pictures indoors, or close up, great for sweeping landscapes. Distortion is kept to a minimum, and very little lens flare. It is worth the price, you wont be disappointed.

Oh my, what a useful focal length. Heavy, feels solid and well made. Like the focusing features. Ive used it a lot so far, the 2.8 maximum aperture is wonderful to put to use. Great optical clarity. Came with a nice case. Glad I was fortunate enough to buy it!

Great lens! Although somewhat pricey this is a very good and also very heavy. While there is some distortion at its widest angle and some corner dimness at 2.8 unless you are working at those extremes with big enlargement factors it shouldn’t be a problem. Bottom line, this is quality.glass for MFT photogs.

Gorgeous lens! A joy to work with. Absolutely perfect in every way. Keep in mind that on a micro four-thirds camera like the Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II, you need to double the effective focal length. So 7mm is really 14mm (equivalent to 35mm camera), and 14mm is really 28mm.

This lens is nearly as sharp as my Olympus Prime PRO lenses. I tested it against the 17mm 1.2 at F2.8 and F5.0. You could only see a very slight difference at 200% magnification. Thats a Pretty amazing result for a zoom.
