Let me qualify myself with my Olympus journey. I am a full time professional award winning photographer who switched to Olympus after 4 bad Nikons in a row. We all know about Nikons quality control issues as of late. I have owned many Olympus cameras, Fuji cameras, and Sony cameras (I am a mirrorless guy.) I had mainly been shooting Sony as of late but have been disappointed in their lens selection and pricing. Dont get me wrong, Sony lenses are stellar and the Zeiss 55mm f1.8 has gone down as a legend for me and many others. However, smaller lens selection and unbelievably expensive glass for the range I need pointed me to look at this Oly 40-150mm lens. So where has this journey led me? Well I have sold off all my Sony gear except one camera and one lens and I have pretty much gone back to all Olympus products. I shoot, weddings, commercial, and family portraits mainly and yes micro four thirds cameras are really that good. I am so sick of the sensor size argument. I have shot these cameras in every type of lighting environment and they have blown me away. Best part is, Olympus glass is exceptionally good and most lenses will not break the bank. Also, yes, you can get beautiful bokeh and beautiful depth of field with these cameras. I am mean really good. Good enough to earn me wedding photography awards and most importantly the respect of my clients. Now to this lens. This 40-150 lens is the M43 game changer! Yes, it is that good! Good enough to make me sell off my Sony gear like I mentioned. This lens will go down as one of the best made from any manufacturer. The build quality is exceptional. The contrast is beyond beautiful. The bokeh is buttery smooth. Sharpness is second to none even wide open. Best of all, for a 40-150 f2.8 the lens is compact and light. Yes, it is expensive but if you want a lens to bring out the best in the micro four thirds sensor look no further. Olympus cameras are blazingly fast and with this lens on my OMD-EM1 I never miss a shot and I never have an out of focus image. No back focus issues ever (you hear that Nikon?) If you are serious about photography get this lens. It will blow you away. One quick side note. I get asked from Nikon and Canon people, well dont you feel weird showing up to events with smaller cameras and gear? No, I dont and in fact the retro look of the cameras have started more wonderful conversations than I can count and my back isnt gone by the end of the day. Dont be afraid to shoot micro four thirds. Yes, a full frame sensor will get a bit more dynamic range etc but if you know what you are doing these cameras will perform just as well. This cameras truly do put the fun back in photography for me and this lens is a legend. Happy shooting and sorry for my ramblings.

I have a EM-1 Mark II. I have been using my four thirds lenses with the converter. Both the 50-200 F2.8 to 3.5 and the 35-100 F2. These lens worked great with the converter and took crystal clean pictures and auto focus was quick. I got a good deal on a used 40-150 F2.8 lens here on Amazon. So I thought I would see if the lenses made for the camera worked any better. While I am not sure they work any better they are smaller and more compact than the two giant lenses I was using. The ED 40-150 F2.8 lens creates crystal clear pictures. I have been taking taking sports pictures at my sons games. The lens instantly focuses on the subject. The pictures are great. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great lens; I used it with the MC-14 Telecon I purchased at the same time to get some great photos of the Super Blood Moon event. I look forward to using this lens a lot on my OM-D E-M1 camera. It works well for both far off objects as well as using as a macro lens to get in on a subject while separating it from the background

See below for full resolution comparison shots: [...] === Notes === - The following review has been written based on my experience using this lens with Olympus OM-D E-M1 for about 1 week. - I have written a review earlier for Olympus M.ZUIKO 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 lens where I have noted ugly rendering of out-of-focus objects. So I decided to give this lens a try. This review therefore contains comparison shots between the two lenses. They have been shot using the same exposure settings while mounted on a tri-pod. You can find my original review here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R1AK77EYRJVO8Q/ref=cm_cr_pr_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B0066J6EOU === Pros === - Very even optical performance (sharpness and resolution) across the frame - Excellent flare control and the lack of vignetting - Quick and quiet auto focus - Solid metal construction with weather-sealing - Good placement of L-fn button (much better than the one on 12-40mm PRO lens which is too close to the body) - Good out-of-focus area rendering (no nastiness seen in the 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6) === Cons === - Continuous AF still needs improving - Price (more than 10x as compared to 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6) - Heavier and bulkier (more than 4x as compared to 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6) - Limited subject isolation even at 150mm and f/2.8. You may feel it lacking if you are, say, doing full-body portraits - Somewhat flimsy lens hood sliding mechanism === Summary === In my view, this lens is a buy if you need/value: - Optical performance across the frame and need longer reach than the standard zoom - Low light performance for night shots and indoor event coverage - Gaining "professional appearance" through the use of better equipment There is no doubt to me that this lens is indeed for professionals. If your needs are more casual, I would stick with cheaper and lighter options that are already out there.

Very nice lens. Very sharp indeed. Great build quality. I get very sharp pictures from this lens. I use it for Volleyball sports and portraits. Great lens. It gets great reviews from lens reviewers on the web. I use this with my Panasonic G85. I dont think Panasonic has a lens that is a good as this one in this zoom range.

I read every review about this lens I could find, and watched everything Youtube had to offer. Lets face it, this lens is not inexpensive and I wanted to feel secure in my purchase. I hope my experience and purchase can help you decide if the Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 PRO is right for you. Please read on... PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS The Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 PRO (with both caps, lens hood, and tripod collar) weighs in at a hefty 36.25 ounces. This is not a small lens, especially by Micro 4/3 standards. The build quality is excellent. The Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 PRO has a very solid feel to it. The lens is weather sealed, and dust, splash, and freeze-proof. This pairs nicely with the Olympus OMD EM1, OMD EM5, or OMD EMK MKII, which are all weather sealed bodies. This lens is made to mount on any Micro 4/3 camera body that supports interchangeable lenses. The mounting ring is steel. The lens mounts to the camera body smoothly with a very reassuring "click" when locked in place. The zoom ring is smooth with just the right amount of resistance. It does stop at both its maximum and minimum zoom range, which the Panasonic 35-100 f/2.8 does not. I prefer the zoom ring to stop at the end of the zoom range, but you may not. Its a personal preference. This lens has a programable L-Fn button on the side, just like the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 PRO. This button can be designated by the user to control AF Stop, View Selection, Digital Tele-converter, Level Display, Focus Peaking, Focus Modes, AF Area Select, RAW mode, HDR, Bracketing, or several other user presets. The included hood can remain attached to the lens at all times, even when not in use. It slides out for quick deployment, and retracts when its no longer needed. Simply give it a slight turn to the left and pull it back in to retract. The hood is plastic, but very sturdy. The telescoping motion is smooth and natural. PERFORMANCE I paired this lens with an OMD EM5 MKII. Your results may vary based on the camera you use. I knew this lens was a keeper from my first shot. I was looking down at my camera messing with the settings when out of the corner of my eye I noticed a bird flying by. I snapped the camera into shooting position and fired off a single shot. The focus was instantaneous and the image of the bird was sharp and clear. I was hooked from the first shot. I have only had this lens a short time, but Ive tried to take some difficult shots to really test its limits. Shooting towards the sun produces very little to no purple fringing, something that plagues many lenses. As Ive stated, autofocus is very fast, even in poor lighting situations, which really surprised me. The bokeh produced by this lens is very smooth and creamy, alsmost but not quite as good as the Olympus 75mm f/1.8. BUYING DECISION As I mentioned before, the Olympus 40-150 f/2.8 PRO is not inexpensive. It was difficult for me to spend so much on a lens. After just a short time with it I have to admit I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. No regrets at all. This lens is impressive and worth every penny to me.

Advantages: 1.excellent image quality; 2. fixed max f2.8 aperture; 3. I just love this focal length range--for me its the perfect outdoor and portrait lens. It just fits how I typically see the world! Disadvantages: 1. Relatively large; 2. Relatively heavy (compared to other micro 4/3 lenses); 3. Obviously its not adequate for wide angle needs.

My new favorite lens. When I got into photography, I read that you should spend 1/3 on the body and 2/3 on the lenses. I wish I had picked up this lens then. Images are stunningly clear. Bokeh at 2.8 along with the compression from the zoom creates amazing images. I have the other Olympus lens, which was part of the reason I selected this over the Panasonic version. The build quality is unparalleled.

Amazing lens. Ive used it several times without a tripod and the image quality is excellent. With internal zoom it doesnt take up any more space, the slider to manual focus is super easy to use. Very fast. A bit heavy to hand hold for an extended period of time but doable when you dont want to drag a tripod around. Beautiful bokeh. Have used it for some macro shoots that came out very well. Overall - great!
