This lens is one of the best deals in mirrorless photography! I own the 25mm, 45mm and 75mm olympus lenses as well as the 14mm panasonic and after a few months I can say the 25mm is my go to lens. Even with the other lenses I own I find I use the 25mm a lot for doing portraits as it is so sharp wide open its not funny! This lens also handles flaring so well that I have almost found it impossible to make it flare! It is an all around lens that though its not as wide as say the 17mm, it is so useful for everyday photography and again, I cant say enough about how sharp it is on my EM1. Recommended 100%

This lens has opened my eyes to what I have been missing all these years in my photography. The depth of field on this lens is truly remarkable, and the focal length is comfortable without being too close or too far. The f1.8 also helps greatly in low light situations. I would absolutely recommend this lens to others.

Absolutely my favorite MFT lens currently for portrait type photography. Just wish focus distance was a tad closer, but very sharp images.

A 50mm is always the first lens I get when I get a new camera system because Im a portrait photographer. It wasnt until I mounted a 50mm on a full frame did I fall even more in love with it. I recently ditched my DSLR for mirrorless. I got an XT-1 with, among other lenses, an awesome 56mm f/1.2. On the XT-1 the actual field of view is 80mm which is what Im used to. Then I needed a backup camera and got the chance to get a Olympus EM5 MKII and this 25mm. Whoa! I shouldnt have been so surprised but Im just used to the cropped 50mm focal length. I can see no other lens on my EM5. Excellent walk around focal length and the size with this M43 is perfect for street photography. And I agree with every other review that the focus speed is super fast.

I absolutely love this lens. Its small, light, and very fast. Pictures from it are crisp and sharp. Its paired with my Olympus OM-D EM10 which makes it an equivalent to a 50mm lens on a full frame camera and its a match made in heaven. Great "walkaround" lens.

Sharp pics, no distortion, good cooler, quiet. Good bokeh for portraits. Fairly small. Seems well constructed. Kind of a must own prime for Olympus and Panasonic DMC-7 shooters. Other Panasonic owners might want to skip it for the Panasonic Leica 1.4, since this lens has no stabilization. Unless you only shoot with tripods, dont try to convince yourself that youre ok without it. Its just not worth it to shoot un-stabilized. Theres nothing like being able to shoot 1/15 by hand.

This lens did me well for quite a while, but there is a known flaw, at least in a particular run of these, where the lens focusing creates an audible clicking while recording video. This completely ruins any use of the cameras onboard mic. I have an Olympus PEN El-P5 with no auxiliary mic input, so I am forced to record my audio separately anytime I use this lens. Good practice to always have a safety, but kills a lot of on-the-fly recording. Its been reported that Olympus recognizes the issue, but does not see it as enough of an issue to repair or replace impacted lenses.

This lens is small, light, and focuses fast and silently. In years past this type of lens would be the standard lens when you purchased a 35mm lens. I got this lens for 250 used but I have seen it for under $200 from time to time. Paired with my OMD5.2, this lens and camera combination is certainly infringing on compact camera territory, the total weight being about 600grams. This 25mm should give you the ability to take pictures of almost everything and everyone you encounter. If you need sports shooting, or other situations that require reach, then the 40-150 zoom can get you there for $100. With those two lenses you cover almost all situations.

I give 4.5 stars. Prime lens difference over kit lens is instant, clarity, coloring, and sharpness if needed. Im using it on the G7 for video so Im not much of a photo person. So Ive been comparing stills from both in 4k and 1080, and the difference is noticeably better. It does fit a bit tight, but nothing Id say is an issue, no dust is getting in from that seal at least. While I do not like auto focus while rolling video, when Ive used it, there is a slight motor clicking sound you can hear, but this is real subtle, and its not anything I would not expect from this category lens. Its a really good lens, would I buy again if needed, yes.

I bought this lens hoping it might replace the Panasonic 20mm, which I love but is slow to focus and a bit wide for my walk-around lens. Took the 25 out for a very casual spin tonight and was Extremely happy. The sharpness wide open is dynamite -- made some small crops that looked as good as most full resolution shots I take. Focus is lightning, size is not really much bigger than the 20mm (think of it as a slightly shorter, but wider oly 45). And I always felt the 20 was a bit too wide for an only lens to carry. This one feels right on. Think this will live on my em-5 and it will be enough, where I always used to put on the 20 and stick the Olympus 45 in my pocket just in case.
