Ive only had this lens for a day and it is already my favorite. I was concerned that the autofocus wouldnt work as well, but it does. I absolutely love the pictures it produces with no effort - so professional looking!

The 45mm f/1.8 is more than just OK, as one reviewer said. If youve only used the 14-42mm kit lens, this bit of glass will transform your m43 photography. Yes, its ideal as a portrait lens, but Ive found the speed and sharpness makes it far more versatile than that. I leave it on the camera most of the time, changing it out only when I absolutely need a wider view. Try it sometime. A fixed focal length, especially this one, makes you see the world around you a bit differently, and the narrower perspective pays off if you give it a little thought. Very nice bokeh, too. As an indoors, low-light lens, you can make some images that just arent possible with the kit lens. The price is right too, for this kind of quality. I do think Oly should have included the hood as part of the price, since youll definitely want it to help control flare. I own the 20mm f/1.7, but if I had to choose just one lens, this would be it.

It works just fine on my DJI Inspire 2, which is the only use I have for it.

Just as all reviews have stated, very optically clear, precise, detailed. For this focal range a must have for micro four thirds. Very small, inconspicuous, with great image quality. Very well built. Highly recommended.

I quickly abandoned the kit lens that comes with the Olympus E-PL1 and E-PL5 (14-42mm) in favor of the Panasonic Lumix 20mm which is a wonderful and incredibly fast lens. I was convinced that was all I would need, since I could use my Olympus f2.0 50mm macro with an adapter as a fast "portrait" lens. I balked a bit at the price of the 45mm since I was convinced I was covering the same territory. I was wrong. This lens is perfect on my E-PL5. Why? 1) Incredibly fast (and accurate) auto-focus (This was problem with the older 50mm macro lens). 2) Small and lightweight. I dont know how they managed to get f1.7 in such a small package 3) Wonderful image quality. Google my name and youll probably find some of my photos taken with this lens. 4) Looks great (if that is important to you). I think the silver lens on a black camera looks as a camera should.

Fabulous lens. Lots of glass - it sucks in the light and makes low-light photography much easier. The 90-mm (35-mm-equivalent) focal length is great for portraits, or for getting closer to the action in poorly-lit venues. This quickly became a favorite lens.

Its a very sharp image! Ive got the 25mm Panasonic lens as well and they match wonderfully. My background is primarily broadcast video and I use this lens for that. Its turned out great images when doing interviews. The colors come out very nice not too much contrast just right. It does a great job in low light as would be expected at f 1.8. I got mine used but no issues with performance or aesthetics. If you are a micro four thirds video shooter I would say this is a must have for a nice sharp image.

Cutting edge (and relatively affordable) lenses like the Oly/Zuiko 45mm might be the biggest reason to own a Micro-four-thirds camera. This 45mm lens is comparable to a 90mm lens on a full frame 35mm camera. So it is a wonderful portrait lens, great indoors and outdoors. This lens is tack sharp across the full frame. Depth of field is wonderfully shallow so your background and foreground just disappear into a silky softness. Put this lens on an Olympus OM-D or Panasonic G3 or GH2, and your images will beat the pants off mid-level APS-C DSLRs and, hard to believe, go toe to toe with the last-generation full frame DSLRs (i.e. the Canon 5d Mk2).

This lens delivers awesome results with a very pleasing bokeh when used as a portrait lens. The 90mm equivalent focal lens (on a 35mm equivalent sensor) offers a great perspective as well for a general purpose lens. The focus is very sharp and the auto-focus speed is fast. Ive used this lens on both the Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera and the E-PL5 and both cameras deliver amazing results. The downside is that the barrel is plastic and the focus is focus by wire rather than the snap focus ring on the Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens, but perhaps this is to keep costs more affordable. This is one of the must have lenses for the micro four thirds system. I would recommend, for starters, to have this lens, the 12 mm Olympus f1.8, and the Panasonic Leica 25mm.
