Here is photo with FX TC-20E III Teleconverter, Nikon D500, AF-S FX NIKKOR 300MM f/4E PF ED lens. The sun was high and lots of light, It seems to do good as long as there is good light, otherwise not usable. F/8, ISO 100 1/500

I have used Nikon products since the 1970s and have kept up with all the current and modern products currently owning a D800. They are all well constructed and last a life time. I am sure this item will be no different. But you have to understand the limitations of Teleconverters. This particular model will double the f stop you will have to use and will soften the clarity of the photograph compared to the primary lens without the converter. This will happen with any teleconverter you use but it will double the focal length of the lens you are using. Be sure to download and read the Nikon compatability chart as the teleconverter is not compatable with all nikon lenses.

Be sure that this works for YOUR lens. Realize that some lenses will loose auto focus. Also realize that viewfinder will be much dimer with this. Otherwise, I normally have the 1.2x Teleconverter with me at all times, just incase, with the 2x for really hard cases, e.g., small birds at a great distance.

Like most Nikon products its on the pricey side but the quality is there. It works well for a converter on Nikon lenses and body but make sure it is compatible with your body and lenses. It has a limited number of combinations. Check Nikons site to make sure! I use it mainly for a Nikon D3500 body and a AF-S NIKKOR 200-500 f5.6 VR. Auto focus only works with good lighting because of the 2-stop loss.

I put this on my 70-200 f2.8 vrii in the hopes that I could get sharp 400mm photos. Well, it did zoom into 400mm, but it is noticeably less sharp than the original lens without the teleconverter on. I returned this because my 28mm-300mm, at 1.5 crop on a D800 produced pictures that are almost as sharp as the 70-200 f2.8 vrii with this teleconverter on. I might as well just use the 28-300mm when I want to zoom in that much and get almost the same quality photos instead of spending money on more camera equipment.

I upgraded to this TC from my old 1.7x TC. I like the extra bit of focal length it provides. I use it exclusively with my 300mm f2.8, so if you have a slower or lower quality lens the performance may not be as good. A tripod is almost a necessity at 600mm (although Ive taken a few decent shots handheld thanks to the VR in the lens). There is some softening of the image, but nothing that is unacceptable in my opinion. Some day Ill rent the real 600mm from Borrow Lenses and do a side by side comparison, but I doubt Ill be able to notice much difference in detail. For me its the perfect companion to the 300/2.8.

The version three of Nikons TC-20 is a significant improvement over previous versions. Its sharp, quick focusing on my 500mm f/4, 300mm f/2.8, and 70-200mm f/2.8, and it is sharp as a tack. I am seriously impressed with this TC and highly recommend it. I use it for nature and wildlife photography.

I pick this up to use with my 70-200 V2 for addtional reach when i needed on the D800. This is a solid built, and almost 2 inches added to the lens length, addtional weight is very little. my 70-200 f2.8 will now become 140-400 f5.6 with this conversion. Pro: Much cheaper and lighter to get to 400mm. Cons: picture sharpness, just a tap slower for focus. Im not sure if i will be using this as much since i can crop my d800 and its is still pretty sharp.

This converter lens is perfect for me. I do a lot of wildlife photography where I cannot get close to the subjects. The weight of many long-reach lenses were too much. This converter combined with my 300mm lens is perfect for me. It works great.

Im still a rookie when it comes to photography but this wonderful device allowed me to go from taking awesome pictures of insects the size of bees to taking awesome shots of insects the size of ants.
