Right after my delivery of this product, I had to see what kind of difference this 20mm 1.8g was compared to my 35mm 1.8g , which I love and use exclusively. Its like night and day. The 20mm is wide and sharp!!! Right out of camera, I have not witnessed a Nikon prime (and I have the 50 ,35, and 85 g series) as sharp as this lens. Now the images I uploaded are edits, but not much was done to them. The first shot was taken from my car, while I was in a McDonalds drive through on a cloudy Pennsylvania day. Results, WOW. I am gonna have fun with this lens!! The next and more important example is this panorama that I did of the Bethlehem Steel stacks. With the 35, I barely got the top of the stacks, and I was standing quite a bit away from them. This lens; I am literally up close and personal, and it caught the whole thing, all the stacks with room to spare. I sent a from camera no edit and a minimal edit. Bottom line without getting techie, this lense is the truth, so far, thats why I have to keep saying, "gonna have fun this lense"! Buy it for yourself and see!!!

Wow.. this lens is great... The star and moon bursts are fun.. the aperture blades really do make some amazing rays.. The image quality I am seeing from this lens is spectacular. Edge to edge its clean with very little issues even wide open. If you are looking for a astrophotography lens wider then 24mm without having to drop to 2.8 this is it..

All of my Nikkor lens have a "US" in front of the serial number but this doesnt have it. I was saddened, depressed and angry. So, I called the Los Angeles Nikon Service Center to check. My lens is a US lens. Now, I can smile again. The Nikon number is 1 800 645-6687. And you can also register your lens! Whew. Great lens. Buy it.

I had been considering the Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 to add wide angle landscapes to my photography, but after researching, I found that this Nikon 20mm gave me pretty much the same views (have to use your feet instead of the zoom . .) at a much less cost! This prime lens is sharp and clear even to the edges, and I get magnificent images with the D810 and this lens. I found that 80% of my wide angle photos were in this range so the fixed 20mm works fine. I would highly recommend this lens as a cost savings alternative to the 14-24mm zoom at about 1/3 the cost.

A near perfect lens for a landscape photographer. Its light and sharp. Easy to use at 1/60 of a second. Have not tested it yet for astrophotography but can assume that it would be excellent for it. It has a 77mm filter thread which was one of the main reasons I bought it because the standard filter size allowed me to use all my filters (one of the main factors that I did not settle for the 24mm f/1.8). Great for tight places indoors and has a very small minimum focusing distance to help with that.

I usually have better luck shooting prime lenses than zoom lenses. Plus they are a lot lighter. I chose this over the 14-24 due to weight and the ability to use filters on it. Its a nice size, very sharp and goes all the way to 1.8.

Perfect in every way. I dont think it could be improved. Great for landscapes and Stellar Photography. Skip the 14-24mm and buy this. Then just physically move to compose. You wont regret it! I cant recommend this lens enough.

I just got this lens and I really love it. It is small and light, very well built and finished, it does not look cheap. It does not present distortions to the sides that one cannot fix in PS and it is fairly sharp. It is not as sharp as my 14-24, but then again, it is not nearly as heavy.
