LOVE THIS LENS. beautiful results, compact, crisp, Manual and Auto focus is great, but I find myself mostly having to use on manual focus so that the plane is where I want it. I use mostly for jewelry and outdoor experimentation, but occasionally as a portrait lens too. Have also used it for video too while panning on plants for close in detail with beautiful results. I bought this a couple years ago and have never once regretted the purchase.

This is one of those lenses that is so sharp and performs so well that it will be welcome in any Nikon camera bag. In addition to functioning very well as a 1:1 macro lens, its performance at infinity makes it an all-round champ for general purpose shooting. On a DX sensor, it is the perfect focal length for portraits. On an FX sensor, it can be used in place of a 50mm. Its flat field makes it an excellent copy lens. I bought this filter to B+W 62mm UVA (Ultra Violet) Haze MRC Filter #010

Nikon 60mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Micro-Nikkor Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras As a long time fan of Nikon Lenses if not their prices I am happy to say that as I enter the Digital world they still produce quality products. This 60mm Micro does excellent work on close up images and also functions well as an all around GP lens on both my D80 DX and my D700 FX. Though they are still pricy, at least the better lenses, they appear however, so far, to live up to their lineage. I must say regarding the lower end offerings they also fulfill their role quite well and are a superb choice for most photographic challenges. I also own a 50mm 1.4 and a 24-120 Zoom in addition to a series of DX lenses that provide excellent quality results in diverse settings.

Pictures are clear and bright. Depth of field accentuates pictures quality very well. You will like this lens. BUT! Product should be labeled to indicate if item being purchased is U. S. product or Foreign (GREY Market). Nikon USA will not service any product if it is not imported by them and sold by an authorized vendor. Amazon has not responded to an inquiry concerning buyers ability to identify grey market product prior to purchase. Another lens (18-200mm) purchased from Amazon, was denied service by Nikon and identified as grey market product.

I bought this as compromise between other lens that were considerably cheaper or more expensive, and this lens does feel like a "mid range" model. The level of detail and how close Im able to get to my subjects is astonishing. If youre interested in macro photography, youll be able to do some amazing work limited only by your imagination. The auto focus was quite fast compared to a 55-200mm Nikon lens I had on the camera earlier, though I use manual focus exclusively for the control it offers. The lens feels pleasantly heavy and sturdy. The motion and mechanics when focusing are smooth and relatively quiet. All that said, its not without flaws. I notice green and purple chromatic aberration on a regular basis. It shows up especially in high contrast areas, but even when I make attempts to minimize it by changing lighting, I can still see faint traces of it. Fortunately Lightroom can remove most of the aberration. But I would suspect that if one bought the "next lens up", i.e. the more expensive one, you would not have as much of an issue.

The build quality seems top notch. Nice texture, fit and finish. The focus ring is perfectly dampend. Sharp images! Love it. I can double this lens as mid-tele portrait as well as a macro. In both cases, it has surpassed my expectations. It hunts for focus in some situations due to not having the focus limiter function (reason for 4 stars). But that doesnt keep me from loving this lens.

I purchased this lens with the Nikon 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor Lens due to my love of macro photography. The 60mm produces sharp and crisp images at a 1:1 reproduction ratio which makes the world of macro photography superb. Nikons exclusive Silent Wave Motor ensures fast, quiet autofocus operation which is great when you are not able to use a tripod. The Nano Crystal Coat and high-performance Nikon Super Integrated Coating delivers superior color reproduction, while substantially reducing ghosting and flare. The rounded nine-blade diaphragm opening makes out-of-focus objects appear more natural which makes your photos appear more "real". If you have a digital darkroom this should spur the creative juices even more as you can take and develop your masterpieces within minutes. I purchased the 60mm and the 105mm lenses due to the difference in focal lengths - while the 60mm will be used for studio work, the 105mm will be used for nature work. There is some hunting done at close range but it is quick to resolve and bring in the focus. If there is no shot to take it will do nothing until you are at the right distance from your subject. But you should familiarize yourself with the aspects of the lens than you will do fine. The bokeh is beautiful and creamy and it makes your photo feel like a work of art. Overall well worth the money. Teamed this lens up on a D90 with a Nikon NC - 62mm Filter - for protection. An absolutely beautiful lens.

Hi! Before I buy this lens, I rented a 60mm sigma macro lens. On my D700 the results sucked big time! Sigmas lens is DX and the minimum shooting distance is too far. So, the results sucked, it took me sometime to decide to get the Nikon 60mm Macro. The lens works perfectly on both DX and FX cameras, most importantly for me it gives the full frame on FX. Sharpness and quality, youll see them instantly with the first shot. You can shoot as close as 3-4cm if you use manual focus. I use it to shoot Diamonds and now I actually see the diamond while the equivalent sigma made it look like a frozen spit. The focusing speed is a little slow. It will take some time to focus, so dont hold your breath! But I use a tripod to shoot anyway, so its not a big deal for me. Cut down my D700s 51 focus points to only one! Its a little small and long for my D700 so whenever I put the camera on a table it makes it fall. Its nothing really. But youd have to be careful. Overall an excellent lens, would certainly recommend it, worth every penny! And Id say GO for it!

A great walk around the park and garden lens that has Micro capabilities. Light, sharp, with quick focus and eye popping details. You can see actual photos taken with the lens at the truetoad web site. Just search on truetoad nature photography. The fact it is 60mm means it has a wider field of view and requires you to get closer in for your Micro / Macro work and sometimes lighting can be a challenge. Color, saturation, clarity, and bokeh are excellent traits of this lens. You will not be dissatisfied.
