I picked one of these up second hand at a local camera shop for $175. The lens looked brand new and I couldnt pass up getting a nice light long lens for shooting around on sunny days. The lens when paired up to my D7200 body takes fantastic images. The stepper motor focus system is lightning quick and razor sharp. Keep the shutter speed up and youll be amazed at the results. For $395 you may want to look else where. But if you can find a clean second hand unit, do not pass it up!

This is a review for the Nikon 70-300 af-p NON VR 4.5 to 6.3 lens. I love it. Even though it does not have VR (it is not stabilized) it works very well. It is FAST and SHARP. This is not a low light lens...ok it can be a low light lens. On my D5500 I use flash or high ISO to get the shutter speed north of 1/100 on the 70mm side and I usually get sharp images north of 1/160 on the 300mm side (but I recommend over 1/250 on the 300mm side). To get this in lower light Im at 3200 ISO at 70mm and 12k to 16k ISO at 300mm. So it is possible to shoot in low light (not super dark but lower light) with flash or very high ISO. However if you bought this for shooting indoor in low light you are mistaken. That is like putting with a 1 Wood driver. Use the right tool for the right job. If you find yourself with it on your body just use flash (assuming you arent shooting something 100 feet away!). Now that is out of the way... Considering the focal length I was surprised at the relatively low shutter shutter speeds I could get sharp images. BIG PLUS. Outdoor usage is what the lens was crafted for and it excels. It is fast and sharp. It is light and plastic and thats a plus for me as I picked it us for the refurb price which IMHO is a steal of a deal. I look forward to a super-zoom af-p lens. Nikon? :) Im looking forward to shooting at the beach this year and if I remember Ill report back. Would I buy again? YES Would I recommend it? YES but if you dont know how to control your camera then get the VR version. Any Cons? I wish it was more compact. I wish it was 18-300mm. But Ill take it because it is sharp and light.

Great Lens, paired with the high ISO of the D5600 this takes great handheld photographs in just about every situation, lightweight and the auto-focus is fast. Optically superb and sharp! I got mine with the D5600 kit (along with the 18-55mm), between these two lenses they cover just about everything you could want to shoot. The only other lens I purchased was the 35mm 1.8 and I am good to go for just about everything.

Good first telephoto lens. Small and very light. AF is very fast. No VR, so you have to practice your shooting technique. Produce sharp pictures on both ends (300mm as good as 70mm)
