I have a Nikon D3300 and this lens would not focus with my camera to save my life... I had to send it back

Another excellent budget lens!! If you are not sure about this because of its lack of VR (Vibration Reduction) theres only a few things you need to be aware of to make this lens and excellent addition to your kit! First, with a tripod and a remote shutter release (which Ive invested less than the cost of this lens into) you can get wonderful night photos, second, for daylight shooting this lens is absolutely fantastic at higher shutter speeds, and can even dip as low as 1/80 if you have steady hands or are anchoring yourself for a low angle shot, the effective zoom on a crop sensor nikon is roughly 105-400mm , which wjen paired with a crop sensor camera (My D90 for example, or one of the 3000 series cameras or more) will give some really crisp, wonderful zoom for some fantastic daylight shots. The packaging was nice and sturdy and there wasnt a ton of extra packing stuff which was nice. Open box, connect to camera, get to shooting! I will add that I purchased this lens specifically for a music festival I was shooting for a local contemporary art museum and the results were absolutely fantastic! The long zoom on this lens allowed me to capture intimate, happy crowd moments without having to jump up and invade peoples personal space, giving everything a much more natural feel to it. For the most part, this lens hasnt left my camera since It arrived for that festival last month, and not an ounce of me regrets purchasing it!

Decent lens. Good zoom. Some times I have to switch to manual focus when zoomed out but that is just to get really sharp in focus photos I guess the auto focus has trouble getting a good fix when the lens is all the way out. If you dont use a telephoto lens a lot, its a good light use / hobby photography level lens.

No, it’s not a “pro”-level lens. But it doesn’t have a “pro”-level price, either. I’ve had it just over a month, now, and I have to say that it’s a great lens and not too heavy to carry around all day. Is it as sharp as the 80-200mm f2.8D? Probably not, but it’s a third the cost of that lens. The ONLY negative thing I can say about this lens is that it’s meant for bright sunny days. It’s not the best lens if lighting is less than optimal. But you DO get 300mm which is great for wildlife and birds. Essentially, I’m very happy with this lens. No complaints.

Ive just started taking photos with my first DSLR and this is a great lens for beginners and a good quality considering the price. Truly the only lens that I use. Im so happy I may never upgrade... I primarily shoot high school sports (hockey, basketball).

Great lens! Would definitely buy again. I have yet to use it during sports but with the reviews Im excited to see the results within the next few months. Great zoom in and out.

Ive used this lens for portraits, at the zoo, and as a poor-mans macro lens (1:4 reproduction ratio). The sharpness is very impressive, especially coupled with the D7100. Of course the D7100 can handle the 70-200 f/2.8 even better, but that monster weighs over twice as much, and costs about 4x more. The only reason you would need the 70-200 f/2.8 is for low light or you are shooting sports professionally. Ive heard complaints about the zoom ring feeling "plasticky". Yes the body of this lens is made of plastic. That is a big reason why it is so light. This is not a downside in my eyes. Compared to something like the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 on DX... the weight is comparable, but the main problem here is that anyone who might even possibly some day go to a full frame camera will not want the Sigma. Why pay more for a lens that isnt usable if you upgrade to full frame? This Nikon handles equally well on FX and DX, which is a big plus to me, as a DX user who will probably go to FX some day.

Great lens, liked the auto focus. Not the fastest lens out there, but works well for my d5200. 300mm is zoom, but not as zoomed as you might expect. For someone looking to zoom in on one feather on a bird from 20ft, this isnt the lens. Im not dissappointed with the lens. It just didnt zoom like I thought it would.

I replaced my kit lens with this one, and I havent looked back since. For what it is and what its worth, its kind of a powerhouse. Im still learning the ins and outs of DSLR photography, but man, I love this thing. Ive recently shot some of my best so far with it.

I really enjoy this lens with my D3400 Nikon camera I only got to take a few pictures while learning about the lens. Manually focused the lens to take pictures and I enjoyed the quality even though I only got a few minutes to take pictures. Im looking forward to taking more when Im off work and home.
