Mount this lens onto the D810 and you now have a behemoth of a camera. Ive been using the Olympus OM DEM5 and OM DEM1 cameras with electronic zoom and focus controls, so when I actuated the zoom ring on this lens it was quite a surprise as to how stiff it was to do so. Im sure I ll get used to it, but by comparison, it is very stiff. the lens stabilization is a great feature and I just used it this past weekend to take a really sharp headshot of my in-laws in pretty low light. The lens performed well, giving me a enviously sharp image in comparison to the Olympus cameras. Im sure I will love it. Havent used the buttons on the side of the lens yet. Glad it comes with a lens hood, Olympus could take a lesson in how happy that makes its lens customers!

I didnt buy this lens with my Nikon D600, because all kit lenses suck, right? Wrong. I bought this lens separately because I read the rave reviews. I wish Id gotten the D600 kit with this lens included and saved money. The 24-85mm VR is edge-to-edge sharp -- it seems as good as a fixed-focal length lense in that regard -- and the VR works as well or better than any Ive used. The lens is surprisingly sharp wide open, although there is light fall-off -- which basically goes away by f/5.6. The lens is a reasonable size and weight (about 17 oz.), focuses quickly and quietly, and I really value the extra 24mm width. The unit I bought focuses a little behind the subject, but that was easy to compensate for with the adjustments on the D600. You can keep your massive 24-70s -- as far as Im concerned, this is THE great all-around lens.

I am giving this 5 stars for what it is...its a great walk around lens. There is a lot of distortion at the low and high ends when the lens is wide open. More than I am used to seeing. I bought this because I wanted something I could use as a walk around, and having some experience with hauling the monster (f2.8 24-70), I decided to lighten things up. No contest between those two lenses in terms of quality of build or results...but huge differences in terms of price and weight. For what I bought it for...its great.

Great lens for my arsenal. Takes great sharp shots and didnt cost me an arm and a leg. Needed a macro lens real quick and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Check on line for reviews that back up my statement, youll find it is highly recommended. If you dont absolutely require a 2.8 this will fit the bill nicely without breaking the bank.

I use this lens on my D800 and I am extremely satisfied with it. I have a 24-70/f:2.8 lens as well but I prefer to take this lens everywhere I go due to its lightweight and the results are great for a kit lens as this one. I paid over $1,700 for my 24-70 and only $350 for this one, I love the compact size, and the VR feature functions extremely well with slow shutter speeds. I like taking pictures with low ISO settings for sharpness and hardly ever I had to increase my ISO in low light conditions. I would highly recommend this nice little lens for a daily use for any FX format Nikon. When use it on my D7000 it a acts roughly as a 35-125mm lens.

Very good lens for the money. Not the largest aperature, or the toughest construction, but its sharp, fast to focus in decent light (which mostly depends on the camera body), light, fairly compact. I tried one in stores and it didnt seem to hold a candle to Sigmas ART 28-105 F/4 lens (Which easily costs at least double), but I figured it was probably a used and abused model that was representative of the real deal. Turns out I was right. I was going to get the SIGMA ART 28-105, but it was just too much money and this thing is always on sale while the sigma isnt. Until theres a relatively affordable Nikon f/2.8 28-120 mm with VR II, this is great value. Everything else just lacks something: The Nikon 28-70 has a much better build and larger aperture, but its only slightly sharper, and doesnt even have VR! (Which is arguably more useful than a larger aperture for people that arent uber-professionals) Sigma is better built, slightly sharper, and has a slightly larger aperature too....but it turns the other way when focusing and costs a lot more.

I dont own Nikon full frame cameras but bought this lens because its a good range of focal lengths for my use. I am mostly interested in portraits and street shooting. Its sharp everywhere and plays well on a cropped from camera like a D7100. I also like that it covers a full frame should I add one in the near future.

I used it with my Nikon D610 both in daylight and at night doing nightscapes. The Photo included is of the western horizon Belen,NM. 20 second exposure, iso 1600, f/4, lens at 24mm. I am pleased with the result so far very light lens.

I have great respect for this lens. I took a photo of a map from eight feet distance and the sharpness is better than your eyes at inches distance. Price is reasonable quality is excellent.
