Great lens for my arsenal. Takes great sharp shots and didnt cost me an arm and a leg. Needed a macro lens real quick and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Check on line for reviews that back up my statement, youll find it is highly recommended. If you dont absolutely require a 2.8 this will fit the bill nicely without breaking the bank.

I use this lens on my D800 and I am extremely satisfied with it. I have a 24-70/f:2.8 lens as well but I prefer to take this lens everywhere I go due to its lightweight and the results are great for a kit lens as this one. I paid over $1,700 for my 24-70 and only $350 for this one, I love the compact size, and the VR feature functions extremely well with slow shutter speeds. I like taking pictures with low ISO settings for sharpness and hardly ever I had to increase my ISO in low light conditions. I would highly recommend this nice little lens for a daily use for any FX format Nikon. When use it on my D7000 it a acts roughly as a 35-125mm lens.

Very good lens for the money. Not the largest aperature, or the toughest construction, but its sharp, fast to focus in decent light (which mostly depends on the camera body), light, fairly compact. I tried one in stores and it didnt seem to hold a candle to Sigmas ART 28-105 F/4 lens (Which easily costs at least double), but I figured it was probably a used and abused model that was representative of the real deal. Turns out I was right. I was going to get the SIGMA ART 28-105, but it was just too much money and this thing is always on sale while the sigma isnt. Until theres a relatively affordable Nikon f/2.8 28-120 mm with VR II, this is great value. Everything else just lacks something: The Nikon 28-70 has a much better build and larger aperture, but its only slightly sharper, and doesnt even have VR! (Which is arguably more useful than a larger aperture for people that arent uber-professionals) Sigma is better built, slightly sharper, and has a slightly larger aperature too....but it turns the other way when focusing and costs a lot more.

I used it with my Nikon D610 both in daylight and at night doing nightscapes. The Photo included is of the western horizon Belen,NM. 20 second exposure, iso 1600, f/4, lens at 24mm. I am pleased with the result so far very light lens.

I have great respect for this lens. I took a photo of a map from eight feet distance and the sharpness is better than your eyes at inches distance. Price is reasonable quality is excellent.
