I have a Sony a6000. Great camera, but the lens that comes with it, a power zoom 16-50mm died, and guess what?....no one wants to fix it, and Sony has ZERO customer service. After researching and talking to camera repair guys, this seems to be a very common problem with the Sony lens. The problem is the camera WILL NOT WORK when the Sony lens dies. I wanted a basic, inexpensive NON-SONY lens, and this baby works great. Im still afraid to buy a Sony electronic lens, so Im hoping the Neewar folks can come up with some telephoto lenses with an E mount. Please???

Its not super sharp, or clear but it is dirt cheap. Cant really go wrong for a cheap 50mm equivalent prime lens for a Sony Alpha camera. You will get chromatic aberrations and other artifacts. I dont think it is as sharp as the kit lens either, but its nice to have a prime lens that is completely manual so when you turn on your camera all you need to do is set your shutter and iso, dead simple.

Well I was a bit nervous at first. Sometimes the price is to good to be true. But in the end it was more then worth it. So if you are a beginner, this is a nice cheap lens to get, and practice with. Be warned it though, as it will hold you accountable for your mistakes. Which is good because then you hopefully make less mistakes and become a better photographer. But at the same time you might have missed a great shot. This is a fully manual lens without autofocus. This can make things a bit tricky when shooting portraits of children. (Hint: Use a faster shutter speed.) I use mine mostly for automotive photography. It works great for detailed photos. Just make sure you adjust you white balance once you have set the lens apertire on the lens, and try not to move the aperture ring after that, or you might end up with some really strange lighting in your photos.

I learned photography on the 35mm manual cameras of the 60s and 70s. Using this lens brings back memories of that era with the added feature of much easier focusing with the Sony A6000. I am satisfied with the clarity of this lens and the f1.7 speed is good. I do shoot mostly in f2 to f4. I believe this lens is an incredible value for an amateur like me.

This lens performed a lot better than I expected. Build quality was quite impressive. I put this to the test for three days straight. The picture was just a tad soft, but you have to look for it, but it could have been me using a camera with not EVF. The focus and aperture ring was quite smooth. This is a fun lens to use for portraits. But mixed feelings with landscape photography. Overall great lens for the price!

5/5 Stars hands down. Let me start off by saying, if youre at all considering this lens, BUY IT NOW. PROS BUILD QUALITY: All metal casing means its a little heavier but it feels real nice to use. IMAGE QUALITY: I was absolutely blown away at the quality of the pictures it took. I attached a picture I took of my family this past Sunday and my god... it turned out amazing CONS NO AUTO FOCUS: This isnt a big deal if you know what youre doing. If your camera has focus peaking then you are more than ready to start using this lens. CROP SENSOR ONLY: This lens was made to work with crop sensor cameras like the sony a6000, a6300, a6500, and so on. This also means that it isnt truly a 35mm lens. With the crop factor its more like a 56mm lens.

Im a hobbyist if thats the right word for it.. in other words a beginner who likes to take pictures. Besides the kit lens this is the first one and only that Ive owned - the price was perfect and the quality is rather amazing. And fast. For $90 compared to a Sony for $400. I use it on my A6000. I wasnt sure Id like a manual lens but its pretty sweet. I suppose the Sony would be better but it cant be that much better. This will probably be my go to lens and only for some time. Photography can run expensive. Thanks.

Crystal clear pictures. I absolutely love this lens. It also works great for night photography. Fits perfect and the quality is very high for the price. Everyone should own this lens. I am currently using it on the Sony A6000

I loved the form factor. Very neat lens with a nice weight to it. Your camera will teeter and rest on the lens due to it weighing more than the camera. Focus, even when perfectly spot on for a fixed object is less than sharp. I tried multiple f-stops and couldn’t get it quite as sharp as I’d like. Picture has character, but definitely not a lens you should work with professionally. Returned and paid the extra money for the Sigma 30mm f/1.4.
