For the price, and with an understanding that its a slow lens and requires very steady mounting (and possibly polar tracking), I would say its exactly as expected. Consider that a lens of this focal length with a fast aperture and better clarity starts at 100x the price , so its worth it for applications that are either very bright such as the moon or sun, or are static enough to fix it on target for a long exposure. Images attached from a Canon 450D on this lens at 800mm, tripod mounted (untracked). One uncropped showing how much of the frame is filled by the moon, the other cropped for a better close-up.

Was very surprised by the quality of the pictures based on the price. This is a manual lens only, if your are not familiar with taking pictures were you have to do everything on your own, this lens is not for you. But if you enjoy experimenting with different speeds and f- stops, this lens takes wonderful pictures. Does not come with any instructions but if you are a novice you can get many interesting articles free on the internet on how to take manual pictures. This is not a point and shoot lens.

This lens was better than I expected and much better than a couple of lenses I sent back. I got pretty good pictures even at full zoom. You have to tweak the settings on the camera for best results. My camera has a zoom feature that lets you focus on an expanded part of the picture for great focus results. I shot with a Cannon T6i using a tripod and external shutter release. I played around with the manual settings on the camera to get the best results. Picture 1 was a bird about 80 feet away at 420mm. Picture 2 was a flower about 25 feet away at 420mm. Picture 3 is some trees on a mountain 2.2 miles away at 800mm. Picture 4 is a sign abut 400 feet away at 800mm. It actually zooms a little farther than a 42x cannon that I own. I am very happy with the lens and results.

A bit of shake on hand held but very stable on tripod. Great distance but clarity lacks at full extension. House is approx. 1/4 mile distance fully extended zoom. Bird is approx. 30 yards but shooting in low light and hand held. Works well with multiple shooting mode. Stop sing approx. 100 yards on tripod

It is what it is! This low cost lens takes great pictures of wildlife & the moon. It is a manual focus only lens so if you expect to just point and shoot this is not the lens for you. If you dont mind using a tripod, manual focusing and using your camera in manual mode only, its a great lens for the money. You can get some fairly decent pictures at a price that you wont have to put a second mortgage on your home to purchase. It is not the sharpest lens available for your camera, however you are not bailing out thousands of dollars to purchase it. PS it also helps to use a remote shutter release while taking pictures when youre using a tripod to prevent camera shake.

I have used this lens approximately 5 to 6 times so far. It takes great pictures of wildlife. I have captured a variety of different things from butterflies to the solar eclipse. I would recommend this lens to any one with a Nikon DSLR camera. You do need to use this lens you need to use it in the manual mode.

For the price this lens is better than I expected. This is a completely manual lens with a fixed f-stop (at least I have not seen where it is adjustable). You need a really good tripod that will hold the lens steady. I used a remote trigger in my camera and the cameras capabilities to control the exposure. I am completely satisfied with its performance. I would recommend buying this for those occasional long shots where you can take your time with. If you need a lens for sports or any fast moving project this lens may not do it for you.

Shipping is fast and lens arrived safe. Seller recommended. I bought this lens for my Nikon D90 and work great with this lens. With this lens I could captures images up to 16x that of a standard 50mm lens with this super telephoto zoom lens with my Nikon. This lens is made with multi-coated all glass elements and lens hood for a superior contrast and resolution with an aluminium alloy body. With this lens I could have macro focus at 800mm down to a remarkable feet. This lens also could be used reveal the details and textures of small subjects. I likes to take pictures of wildlife to spot the nature . This lens price is affordable . Recommend to using a sturdy tripod or monopod when taking pictures

First of all, you need to understand this is a COMPLETELY MANUAL lens. You must focus it yourself, and you have to manually adjust the cameras aperture and shutter speed settings manually for every shot. If you are a point and shoot snapper and you dont know how to apply manual settings. stay away from this product. For the price, I was very impressed at the quality of shots I was able to take. I showed my photographer friends, and they couldnt believe the quality shots I took. I even took some great action shots of surfers. The lens has some fringe distortion at the maximum zoom, and the image is a little soft, but hey - for this price, I could fix most of that with Lightroom. Highly recommended for the photographer who knows his/her way around a camera.

I was trying to use this lens for wildlife photography with my Nikon D3400 DSLR. I am comfortable with operating in manual mode, which is the only option for this product. So, I am sure I used it correctly. But the results seem unsatisfactory to me. - Pros: low cost, was delivered on time, packaging was OK, the make of the product feels solid. - Cons: Unfortunately, the quality of the pictures this lens produces is below average. Sharpness is lower than you would expect and there is a blue "halo" around the edges of objects in the picture. Color is also dull (I have tried shooting both in RAW and JPEG modes) and you would need to do a lot of post-processing to enhance color, brightness, contrast etc. The product arrived poorly assembled - the microscopic hex screws that hold theT-mount adapter were not tightened, so I had to find the right key to tighten them before I was able to use the lens. If you are looking to get close-up pictures of birds and other wildlife objects, you will get better results by cropping your images made with a native Nikons 300mm lens rather than using this 800mm. I am returning this lens.
