First of all, I absolutely LOVE this lens for its image quality. The bokeh it produces is dreamy. The subject in focus is sharp with vivid details. Unfortunately, I cant say its perfect (I wont bore you with too many details -- just google the lens and you will find far better reviews than a few lines on Amazon): -- its not 1:1 macro. Bummer and I dont understand why its so hard for Fuji to produce a true macro, since its done by every other company out there. -- AF is slow and hunts sometimes. You really do need patience with macro, but esp. with this lens. -- I hate the retracting lens barrel (not sure what to call the 39mm filter size thing). Its SLOW and noisy, and since its 39mm, setting it up with a Raynox macro filter is an adventure (you need a 39mm UV filter as "spacer" otherwise there is an error, and then you need to put on the Raynox adapter, and then finally the macro filter itself. Lots of work! If it were 1:1 I wont have to bother with all the Raynox complications. But I guess since I chose Fuji, I have only myself to blame.). Okay, so despite the three things, I am keeping this lens and really enjoy the results despite all the "hard work" involved to get what I want. On the other hand, its a fabulous portrait lens too if you cant afford the 56mm.

Great once you update to newest firmware. X-e2 focuses fast and accurate. I shot motorcycles doing jumps at the circus and it never missed a shot. Can take great macro shots too.

I bought this to use as a macro lens. It is great for that. It is sharp. The auto focus is relatively slow, but not a problem on a tripod for macro. As a gp lens not so much. The Fuji zooms do the job much better.

Very sharp! Wish the focal length was longer so you can shoot farther away!

Im happy with my Fuji 60 mm lens purchase. I use this lens as a walk around portrait lens on a XM-1 camera. Im not anywhere near a professional but for me the lens works with the XM.

Youll love this lens. Macro shots, amazing. Also, non-macro shots are really sharp. Colors are vibrant and amazing too. You wont regret getting this lens.

Really needs a limit switch. In bright light focus is fast enough, but otherwise it hunts tremendously.

(My last review of this lens discussed a lens that produces solid image quality marred with a slow auto and manual focus, however, the focus issues have been fixed by a firmware update.) Look and feel: this portrait angle lens is a relatively small low profile that fits well in proportion with the x-pro1 body. The lens hood is quite large and doubles its lens length. Lens and hood (!) is all metal in construction. Operation: The firmware released late September 2012 improved the function of the lens greatly bringing up the speed of manual and autofocus. Hunting can still occur when contrast focus misses, but those 10 seconds of hunting has been drastically cut down to what feels like ~3 seconds. Manual focus is fast and now quite usable. Usage of EVF is recommended as opposed to the usage of OVF for purpose of confirming focus on subjects. Recommended.

This lens creates beautiful images and is great for portrait work. My only complaint about it is its kinda loud.
