Ive been on the fence for years with buying this lens. Waiting for a good sale, saving money, deciding if it was worth it... Now that Ive pulled the trigger, I couldnt be happier. For $650 this is probably the best value lens that Fuji makes next to the 16mm 1.4 (which will likely be my next purchase) it has beautiful bokeh, fantastic low light capability, and (when shooting boost mode) a nice snappy auto focus. Though sometimes tends to hunt a touch when closer to moving subjects. Even with the lack of OIS this lens is still more than capable at low light. Having the ability to stop down to f1.2 is amazing when shooting street photography in the late hours of the day. Im sure paired with the HX1 this would be an absolute powerhouse of a lens. This lens is clearly designed for PORTRAIT WORK. if you are looking for a quiet cine-lens this one is NOT for you!!! It does some beautiful work, but the AF motor is pretty loud, which is fine for B-Roll but thats about it. Overall, this is an insanely valuable lens for a portrait photographer and well worth the $999 youd pay for it at full price, but if you can catch it on sale, its a complete steal.

Fantastic lens for nature work and anything requiring exquisite detail rendering. From waterfalls to flowers and other nature photography, I couldnt be happier with this lens. In combination with the 1.4 macro extension ring, this lens really delivers. Solid build quality. Easy to switch out when I need the 10-24mm. Highly recommended.

I recently switched from Canon 5d Mark iii and all Canon gear lenses (mostly L lenses) and this lens... I wasnt even into 85mm equivalent range. But this lens is so amazing. Its probably my favorite Fuji lens. So sharp, wonderful bokeh. I just love it.

In my Nikon 35mm film days, I covered a lot of events with a fast slightly wide-angle lens (35mm f/1.4) and a fast slightly telephoto lens (85mm f/1.8). I have attempted to duplicate that equipment with two Fujinon lenses (23mm f/1.4 and 56mm f/1.2). These two well-made lenses have excellent image quality. Mounted on my Fuji X-Pro1 digital camera, these two lenses give me the same angle-of-view that I had with my 35mm film camera. Here are a few other things I like: a. Both lenses have the same filter size (62mm). b. Compared to the Leica M equivalent, these lenses are a bargain.

It lived up to the expectations and rave reviews I’ve seen in regards to this lens for portraits. I had it at a Con and was surprised I kept it on the whole weekend so it has a bit of versatility to it. I’d still say the 16 or 23, are better walk-around/street photo lenses. You may be able to work with the 35 also, depending on space. I included images of how it looks on the camera (minus the hood) and some photos I took in natural light.

What can I say that hasnt already been said? This is one of Fujis best optics. Nice fat focus ring, fast focus and gorgeous bokeh from f1.2 - f4. If you dont really need the faster aperture and like a lot more FL, check out the new ridiculously fast-focusing XF 90 f2 WR. I took this to Cuba recently and it performed beautifully in all kinds of light. It weighs a bit so it may not be your best carry-around optic. Price to pay for fast glass.

I love this lens. A bit heavy for the camera but not to bad. You know I have a good selection of lens for my XT1s and they do add a little bit of weight to the lightweight mirrorless cameras. Sometimes I wonder if some of these lens defeats the purpose of the mirrorless cameras. But I cant say this is a heavy lens. It works perfectly on my camera body. Balanced well especially with the metal hand grip I use. And images are extremely sharp. This is a beautiful lens. And focus fast. For me. Im very happy with this lens

This lens is the truth. If you shoot portraits just buy it. Fair warning though the autofocus on it is slow. However I tend to use spot focus to lock in on the eye anyway.

This is just a WOW! I shoot this on an X-pro 2 and all I can say is WOW. I have always adored the 85mm field of view and this lens has an amazing character to it. Shockingly lovely lens.
