This is a serious lens built primarily from metal with etched markings and made in Japan. This is not a plastic "kit" lens like I used to have on my Nikon DSLR. Those lenses were just a step away from being a throw away lens. The Fujinon 18-55 is significantly better. I had compared it with Fujis other kit type lens, the 16-50. Although that 16-50 is not a bad lens by any means, the 18-55 is much better. It has better AF, image stabilization, an aperture ring, and excellent bokeh. The optics are clearer and the 18-55 has better light sensitivity. For most of what I use this lens for on my X-T1 (street, basic portrait, landscape, vacation), this lens is perfectly fine. I am not a professional photographer by any means, Im just an enthusiastic photography hobbyist who wants better pics than my phone will do.

Very happy with this "kit" lens. I wanted an OIS lens within the focal lengths of 18-55. Its very sharp and weight is good on my xt2. As for video, mayne its my handled techniqur but my videos are very stable. Even when walking the video stays nicely stable. Ive used ibis in lumox cameras and was affraid that fuji does not have it. Now I do not care, the OIS in the fuji lenses is magical.

Love this lens! It’s a useful focal length. The glass is of fantastic quality. I absolutely love the photos this lens produces regardless of what Fuji camera I put it on. I come from Nikon to Fuji and this lens is on par with some of my 1500.00 plus lenses. It’s light and focuses lightning fast (on the xt2). The aperture is not written on the ring but you don’t miss it as it’s noted on the screen and in the view finder.

This is a great multipurpose lens and for the warehouse deal price, it was a no brainer. A tip is to buy a warehouse deal with out a picture referenced. I originally bought one with a picture, but it must have been from a third party. There was no warehouse deal inspected sticker and there was an invoice in the box from some other camera store. The condition of the lens did not match the description and it was sent back. The one without the picture matched the description. Lens performs flawlessly and it lives up to the expectation as one of the best kit lenses.

I have an older XE-1 and wanted the basic kit lens for it. I don’t know why this is a kit lens. Kit lenses are usually mediocre garbage, but the Fuji engineers have done a wonderful job. I love this “kit lens”. This lens is as sharp as my 1500$ Zeiss Hasselblad lens. It’s that good. I’m impressed.

This is as good as it can get with this range of zoom on Fuji. You can have just this lens and go travel. Beautiful lens!

I bought an X-E2 with a XC16-50mm lens, both used as a trial/experiment. Gradually, my Nikon + lenses got used less and less and eventually were sold. Mean while I acquired some Fuji prime lenses. Then I had to buy an X-PRO-2. A while after this I found that as much as I liked the XC16-50 when I had become accustomed to having an aperture ring (something the 16-50 lacks) so seeing used XF18-55mm on Amazon I bought it. So other than the aperture ring how is it better than the XC18-55? The most significant (to me) is is the larger maximum aperture which helps i n low light not just allow a lower ISO and or faster shutter speed but more light reaching the sensor seems to make the AF a little more accurate. lso, the larger aperture aids in reducing DoF when I want to isolate the subject. I suppose it is sharper as well but thats only comes into play if you want a really big print. No one benefit is enough to make be prefer this over the XC, but rather it is the combination of lots of small advantages that make the difference. However, there continue to be times when the noticeably lighter weight and smaller size of the X-E2 + XC16-50mm are preferred, so I hang on to both.

I am using this lens on a Fuji XT-2. I am very satisfied with the image quality. I did not want to spend a huge amount of money for a 18-55mm Focal Range Lens. So this lens was the perfect choice.

Honestly just got this for my birthday and while I haven’t uploaded the pictures yet, the photos look crisp. I can’t wait to try it out more in the field and see what everyone is talking about. Highly recommend.
