With every single purchase Ive made, I miss my Nikon less and less. This lens is amazing. I honestly use this more than the 23mm now. Its just as sharp, performs great in low light, and is so much more versatile when walking around. Yeah its a little bit bulkier than the 23mm, but I personally find this focal length better fitting for my purposes. Throw on a neutral density filter on this and man, does it produce some awesome long exposures!

This is an astonishing lens from Fujis stable. The sharness even wide open at 1.4/ 1.8 is mind boggling (imagine saying that for a 16mm), fall off is very manageable and there is hardly any distortion (I dont know if Fuji is correcting it digitally, but its not there in the RAW file and thats all that matters to me). Build quality is top notch, and I can attest the WR (weather resistant) rating since I have used it in the rain with impunity the last couple of years. Since this is a review after 2 years of use, I can vouch for the fact that the lens is built to last. I dont think there are better fast wide angle primes from any stable (this is subjective of course, not looking for a debate). I bought it initially for the X-T1 but now I have the X-t2, and am happy to say that it is more than a match for the higher resolution, infact, you could say the X-t2 comes closer to doing justice to the resolving power of the lens. If you are in the Fuji eco-system, your choice is between this (and may another fast prime like the 14 f2.8 which I also own) and the 10-24 f4 VR. This is a subjective zoom vs prime debate which each person has to resolve for herself; you wont go wrong with either, but if the choice is prime(s), boy are you in for a treat. For what is worth, for low light shooting I still prefer the faster aperture of the 16mm to the VR of the 10-24 but I know others feel different.

This is now my first choice for a walk-around/travel lens. Previously my go-to was the 23mm, but the close-up capabilities of this piece are outstanding. Its every bit the low light performer youd hope it to be. This, the 35 and the 56 cover almost everything I need from my kit as a street shooter. Highest possible recommendation.

Ive been diving pretty hard into the Fuji lens lineup since I fell in love with the Xt1 this summer. This lens is honestly one of the best. Its a bit front heavy on the Xt1—with the grip attached it feels really good. The focus ring and aperture dial feels well dampened and secure. In your hands it feels solid and secure—definitely "Pro Grade" in every regard. Image quality. I know it sounds crazy, but Id put it up against the nikon and canon l equivalent any day. Its really that good. Color rendition is great. Theres a lot that can go wrong with a wider fast lens. Buying one, you sort of expect a little distortion, some CA and softness (especially in the corners). The more I shoot this lens, the more I cant believe it. Its near perfect. Distortion is very well controlled. I have yet to see any chromatic aberrations (and Ive pushed it pretty hard). This lens is NINJA BLADE SHARP. Admittedly, the 24mm equivalent range is not for everyone. It sort of falls a bit in no mans land. Its not too wide and its not a 35. With a little creativity this can be a really good thing. This lens has surprisingly good bokeh. Shooting wide open, this wide, you can create really interesting and unique images. Its sort of obvious, but Ill say it anyway... Youre not going to shoot portraits with this lens—Its way too wide. This lens is great for a travel walk around, architecture, cityscapes/landscapes. I think its a perfect "nature" or hiking lens. Wedding photographers: Toss out your super wides and get this lens. Shooting crowds or parties with anything wider than the 16 just looks like a 1990s skate video. If youre on the fence...seriously, give this lens a try. Even if 24 is not your "go to range" this lens is so good it will open up new possibilities for you. And hey, thats what shooting is all about—Having fun and creating some seriously good art.

Excellent lens. Use this lens the most on my X-E2. Sharp with no distortion at edges. Can take pictures extremely close to subject. Great coloration and contrast. Fantastic for low light/nighttime photos. Nice manual/AF clutch system. Produces very nice bokeh at F/1.4. Update: It gets even better when this lens is put on the Fuji X-T2. I have it on at least have the time. The other half is with the XF 23mm f/1.4 and the XF 35mm f/2 both which are just as great.

Stunning image quality and incredible build quality. The autofocus is fast and quiet, and the clutch system and smoothness of the focus ring just add to the enjoyment of using this lens. My aperture ring was both smooth and firmly clicked into each setting without being bumped out of place by accidentally touching the ring. Its a little large as far as Fuji prime lenses go, and a little heavier, but its not unwieldy. Im not a fan of the lens hood. I may pick up the metal one but I tend to stack filters so... well, I havent been using a lens hood at all and it controls flare really well, even when coated in dust and ocean spray! Other thoughts: Ive been bouncing around over the years with wider angled lenses but Ive really come to enjoy this 16mm lens (24mm equivalent field of view) for my wider shots. Its where I personally draw my line. I loved the Rokinon 12m and Fuji 14mm, but they were just too wide for me in how I like to shoot. This lens really nailed it for me. Im using this on the X-Pro 1, so if its this quick on this camera, I can imagine the newer models are just that much better. Amazon compresses user images a lot. I get it, they have a lot of content to store. The amount of detail that this lens captures cannot be properly shown on here. Get this lens, go take a nice photo and print it large. Im sure youll be in love.

An excellent choice for photography of architectural city scapes, landscape still photos and even the portrait photography. Portrait photograph does requires unusually close-up shooting for ideal portrait photos. The 1.4 aperture and close focusing ability offer a great package for an initial lens choice. Focus with the 1.4 aperture offers a quick focusing in low lighting situations. This is the first Fujinon lens purchased for use with the X-Pro2 and it is absolutely the best choice for me.

This lens is AMAZING! Such a low f-stop with such a cool wide angle. Its a bit large but not really heavy. Its solid and a work of beauty and craftmanship. Bokeh is so nice! I love the photos you can get with it. Makes photography fun playing around with this lens. I recently went on a trip to Montreal and took this lens and the 35mm. This 16mm stayed on the camera 90% of the time its so versatile. I think if you get only 2 fuji lenses this should be one of em
