It has all the attributes of the fujifilm products: quality materials, well made and flawless optics. I have numerous fujifilm lenses and cameras including the outstanding and under-rated XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4, which is very good, smaller and lighter, but not as fast throughout its’ zoom range. This lense, the 16-55, although heavier and larger (quite a bit) is more versatile photographically (but for travel a bit of a lug-a-long) and excellent for applications such as weddings where flash and low light are issues. Outstanding optics, even for fujifilm lenses, which have a legendary reputation for the highest quality optics.

Love, love, love this lens! Sure its a bit heavy to lug around compared to the 18-55 or a prime but so worth it for the results it produces. Purchased this lens, the 50-140 and a 23 f/1.4 but the 16-55mm lives on my X-T2 and I will probably end up selling the 23 f/1.4. As they say, you get what you pay for and its so true in this case!

I had two copies of the 18-55 lens and constantly put off pulling the trigger on the larger heavier 16-55 because of all the reviews stating how large and cumbersome it was to use. Basically if youve shot with any DSLR equipment this lens will still feel small and light in comparison plus the image quality far surpasses the 18-55 as well as build quality. If your on the fence about this lens just go for it, you wont be disappointed.

Sharp as tack for a zoom lens! I rented this from a local camera shop in UK and I was blown away by its sharpness and fast focus. Couple weeks after, I eventually decided to buy it when I came back from my UK holiday, and this lens has not left my X-H1 camera since! Its a bit on the bulkier side compared to Fujinons standard 18-55mm zoom but you get the benefit of that sharpness and rendering, plus weather-resistance which the 18-55 doesnt have; also, its a red-badge lens so expect a highest quality lens from Fujinon. You wont regret!

I am beginner and like to do landscape photography. Its heavy but it comes with all the features with that like WR, quick auto focus and solid build. I have been using this lens for 6 months and some of the pros and cons as using it during landscape photography are. Pros: 1. Provides sharp images. The image quality is so better. 2. solid build quality, quick focus, 3. weather resistance cons: 1. a bit heavy 2. Expensive 3. no image stabilization :( Its on my camera for 90% of the time. Its makes you feel good about your photography. :)

Full disclosure... I adore Fuji. Fuji is my spirit animal. They make such quality in a day and age where quality is opined as a thing of the past. This particular lens is hands down my favorite. It is a zoom lens so you do lose some of the sharpness of a prime lens but only the most critical eye would ever notice. It doesnt have image stabilization either but who cares... this thing, especially paired with my XT2, takes no prisoners!

Fantastic jack of all trades lens in the Fuji lineup. I purchased this lens for a trip to Disney and it performed miraculously. With its 24-84mm equivalent focal length you have most of what you need in a walk around lens. Ive always been a prime lens shooter but Im realizing that a zoom lens just works in "vacation mode." A couple of days I brought my XF50-140mm Fuji lens to capture some special parade moments but 80% of my shooting was with the XF16-55mm lens. As you can see from the photos its low light performance is descent. Shot at f/2.8 I had to bump the ISO to pretty high levels in order to keep the shutter speed at 1/40 second or faster (as to avoid camera shake). I used a MindShift PhotoCross 10 to carry my X-E3 body, XF16-55, XF50-140, sunglasses, cell phone charger and Pelican SD card case. If youre looking for a fantastic travel and "do it all" lens I cant say enough good about this little gem from Fuji.

This is the only option for Fuji camera if you want a 25-70 equiv. zoom lens. Great news: it has terrific glass and autofocus. Typical Fuji quality means it is rugged with no indication itll be problematic even when not the newest short telephoto zoom in your bag. Get it on sale to feel even better about your decision.

Ive been looking for a "bread and butter" lens to add to my Fujifilm X-T1 system. I already have the Fujinon 18-135mm that came as a lens kit and purchased at a really good price earlier this year. It does a great job in average to bright light settings, but struggles indoors and low light situations. I was looking for a special lens that had the "wow" factor where the end results in a picture just take your breath away. I found it in this lens. I still have my full frame Nikon system that I do not plan on leaving anytime soon. My Nikon is my workhorse for my "bread and butter" events. There is still something special to me in using a full frame DSLR that I will still fall back to using. While I long to have the Nikon 24-70mm lens, I could no justify the price as well as the weight of the lens. I started my research and reading for the next wide/zoom lens. Along the way, I added the Fujinon 27mm pancake lens as well as the 35mm lens. These two primes did a remarkable job in low light. Carrying this Fuji system was still lighter than carrying my Nikon system. Switching between zoom and prime lens did not bother me as I felt theres a creative and fun factor with this system. Still, a good walk around and all purpose lens was waiting to be found. For months, I kept my eye on the 16-55mm red badge lens. Its an equivalent to the full frame ~24-70mm lens. I read a lot of reviews and looked at the beautiful pictures this lens was producing. My gut feeling was telling me to get this lens. I waited for a sale and finally made a purchase. I had no buyers remorse. Oh my! What a beautiful lens! In my hands, was a solid piece of beautiful glass. Its slightly heavier than my 18-135mm lens and a bit longer and a bit wider. I immediately swapped lens and started my wonderful relationship/journey with my new lens. My first adventure was to my local garden center. I always take a photo trip there to test out new lenses. The first thing I noticed was how quick this lens is. No focus hunting at all. My second photo adventure was to an annual trade show. Now, we all know how crazy the lighting can be at an event like this. My Nikon system would usually handle this quite well. I have to say that my Fuji system did a better job, especially with this lens. This lens is sharp! At first, I wasnt too sure how much I would miss using my 18-135mm lens as its a great all-purpose walk-around-lens. I did not miss it when I went to the trade show. I did not miss it when I captured/shot other events. I briefly mentioned the size and weight in comparison to my 18-135mm lens. I do not notice the extra weight and extra length. Im using my lens without a grip. Its that comfortable in my hands. Have I mentioned its a joy to use? Right now, this lens is permanently attached to my X-T1. A winning combination. Have I found my "bread and butter" lens? I sure did! ** February 2016 ** For the first time, I went on vacation without my Nikon system. Instead I took my Fujifilm X-T1 and this wonderful lens. Spent two weeks on a cruise ship and was able to capture some incredible pictures of our adventure. This camera/lens combination did not hesitate in low-light situations. I was able to take pictures of a production show inside a dark theater. This is a great combination for my needs. Also, enjoyed traveling with a lighter backpack. Dont get me wrong, I still love my Nikon system. For this trip it was about letting go for two weeks and see what my Fuji could do. It did remarkably well. I will be back to add additional thoughts/comments/usage.

The headline just about sums it up. A great lens thats fatally flawed by its lack of image stabilization. If youre not planning to use a tripod, youll only want to use this when you can get a minimum shutter speed of 1/400. Its a sharp hunk of glass, after all, and the littlest bit of camera shake will register on your image. I sent it back.
