This is a very nice lens, especially at the refurbished price. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Very sharp lens--I got it in time to photograph baby hummingbirds in our backyard. Very sharp focus, even at minimum focus distance and max zoom. I would prefer a lens with more metal in it--the barrel and mounting flange are all plastic, but thats what keeps the price down. If Im ever in the need for something more rugged, Id get the big bucks lens to replace it.

I was wary of buying a used lens for I like buying most of my electronic devices new, but I am REALLY happy that I went and bought it! I researched other lenses and finally choice this one due to its price and I really wanted a zoom for I used to own the Canon Powershot sx60 hs and I truly miss the zoom it had since I know switched to a DSLR. To get a zoom you now have to go out and buy some really expensive lenses to get what I used to have. I noticed right away that the STM and IS on this lens worked wonders of NO sound while focusing and it is very quick to refocus on anything! It was just exactly what I wanted for I had been using my kit lens of 18-55mm since I got my camera last December. But I still use it even now with getting this new lens. I think for a beginner photographer I have the lenses that I need: 55-250mm zoom lens, 18-55mm kit lens and 24mm pancake prime lens. I have used it with my extension tubes and it works even more wonders where I can really zoom up closer on my subject. I will put in a picture of the extension tubes for they weren’t too expensive but well worth buying for those macro photographers out there starting off and that don’t want too spend too much they too are worth checking out! I got this lens mostly for my macro/close up photography that I do, I love getting up close but I also don’t want to disturb insects or other critters that scare off easily so using this lens and the extension tubes has truly met my expectations! No more having to stand so close.

This lens works great on my Blackmagic Cinema camera. Although the camera itself doesnt always respond with auto-focus, the lens allow me to quickly focus manually. Not sure why this page says manual focus only, its clear from the image that it has both. In addition, the stabilizer feature is handy to correct my own "shaky-camera style." It has not been a problem that the maximum f-stop is 4; I merely have to adjust my camera, and have had no problems with low-light situations. However, I shoot mostly lectures and seminars, so some low-light artifacts are not important to me. For general use, this is a great lens for most situations . . . at a great price!

I have a Canon 100-400 and a sigma 150-500 but they weight a ton, I read all the reports and feedback and decided to take a shot , having old arthritic hands the big lenss are harder to hold and get into position, all I can say about the lens is how do they do it ? I love wild life and birds so shooting for my blind ( a 20113 Chrysler Town and Country) this thing works great. I don"t know what my submitted images are going to look like since they are reduced but take my word this thing is worth a lot more than I paid for it, and the images a great. It is not in the " Kit Lens " category. get it and enjoy

I was kind of skeptical about getting a refurbished lens, and it turns out to be a great buy. Im not a professional by any means, so I didnt want to spend a ton of money of a new lens. I just want to be able to have some options when Im out and about taking photographs. When I got it and looked it over, it didnt even look like it was ever used. I took this with my on a trip to the zoo and it was worth getting for just that. I havent taken it out much since my purchase, but Im please with what Ive done so far. Im willing to try another refurbished lens in the future.

Seems to be a good lens. Just got it today and tested it out a little and nothing appears to be wrong with it. I dont see any reason to pay $300 for one new when these are just as good.

Refurbished? It was so well refurbished I cannot tell it is not a brand new lens! Cosmetically it is perfect. Functionally - everything seems to be working perfectly as far as I can tell. Photos in good lighting are outstanding, crisp, and clear. Lower light is not the best as you have to increase ISO and then you get all of the graininess and artifacts. For a non "L" lens under $150, I am very, very pleased and would recommend the seller CSNY.

This is a lightweight lens that has fantastic quality all the way up to 250mm or 400mm on a crop sensor camera. I have a full frame Canon and the 100-400mm Mark II which costs $2000. Of course this lens isnt as sharp as that one but it weighs at least 4 times less and the image quality is still excellent! So for a travel lens, this is the ideal lightweight choice. My wife has a Canon SL1 and I use the 77D for travel. We both have this lens and the 18-135 STM (another great lens) and that is all we need for trips!

This is a good lens for the money. It is pretty great for wildlife and can be used to take some good macro shots even though it is not really intended for that. The only problem is it is quite slow, you need a lot of light to get crisp photos of your subject and the autofocus struggles at longer focal distances. I was in Alaska taking photos of Grizzlies and Caribou mid day but it was overcast and any time I needed to go above 135mm I had to push the ISO up to 6400 or more. In bright conditions though, this thing is pretty impressive.

Just received this lens and took it out for its trial run. I am pleasantly suprised. The AF and IS both performed well and man are they fast reacting. I got a shot of a hummingbird in flight that showed the speed(see the pic). I will post updates after a feww moreboutings with it. Its not the quality of a L lens but Im impressed for the price
