I recently upgraded a cheapie point n shoot camera to the Canon Rebel T6i. Out of 3 lenses I researched, this one seems to be the best one. This lens produces sharp, clear images. Auto focus, Image stabilization. The auto focus motor is very quiet, in fact im not really sure if I hear it at all in videos. Sharp images even when fully zoomed in. And the 58mm filters/lens hoods for my primary lens also fit this as it is also 58mm. Im happy with the camera lens, glad I bought it.

Purchased this to replace the old IS II version of this lens that had broken. I am extremely impressed with this lens for the price. The STM autofocus is completely silent, and the image stabilization is excellent. It feels well built and has no play or lens droop. The test images I took are clear throughout the zoom range at maximum aperture, with no noticeable edge focus issues (a problem with the old version). For $142 this is an excellent deal, despite the lack of warranty. The lens arrived new in the box.

Loving this lens. Perfect for if youre wanting to photograph longer distances. Using it on my Canon T6i, and the colors are coming out perfect.

This lens is phenomenal. Background: I did a lot of research before buying. I have a Canon EOS M50. It comes with a fantastic kit lens, but its not great for capturing long-distance wildlife shots. Also, the M50 is not directly compatible with this lens, so I additionally bought this Commlite lens adapter for ~ $43: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0788PDN1S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Canon makes an adapter, but its about five times the price of the Commlite. While I dont have both adapters to compare, the Commlite adapter has performed brilliantly along with this lens on my M50 in terms of both autofocus and image stability. I researched this adapter before buying the lens Im reviewing here and found this one to be best liked as an alternative adapter to Canons. Research: The lens designed for the EOS M50 that comes closest to these specs is the Canon EF-M 55-200mm: https://www.amazon.com/Canon-55-200mm-4-5-6-3-Image-Stabilization/dp/B00L7SO7WQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1539717077&sr=1-2&keywords=Canon+EF-M+55-200mm Currently priced at ~ $350 new. Okay, Ive put that on the back burner for now. Its considerably smaller and less likely to make bystanders self-conscious when youre taking shots or making video. Another all-around lens might have been a better alternative is the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens for ~ $500. If this one had been bundled with the M50, it would have been awesome. Unfortunately, it wasnt, and once again I dont want to pay that much for an additional beginning lens. Had this lens been bundled with the M50, I could easily have waited before buying any additional lenses. https://www.amazon.com/s/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_p_89_0?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Aeos+m+lenses%2Cp_89%3ACanon&keywords=eos+m+lenses&ie=UTF8&qid=1539716986&rnid=2528832011 Another alternative was the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III for ~ $80: https://www.amazon.com/Canon-75-300mm-4-5-6-Telephoto-Zoom/dp/B01N9VPHE4/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1539717546&sr=1-3&keywords=Canon+EF+75-300mm+f%2F4-5.6+III Except this one has nebulous autofocus* and no image stabilization. While it does have a longer reach, the image is considerably softer* with more color fringing* than the crispness found in the lens Im reviewing here... hence the much lower price for the 75-300 III. (*For APS-C cameras like the M50.) Actually, most camera reviewers agree -- this 75-300 is the lens to avoid. Lastly, there was the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 is II USM for ~ $500: https://www.amazon.com/Canon-70-300mm-4-5-6-USM-Lens/dp/B01LXTX4WY/ref=sr_1_17?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1539717546&sr=1-17&keywords=Canon+EF+75-300mm+f%2F4-5.6+III Includes AF and IS... Still, not as sharp all-round as the lens Im reviewing here. And once again, this was outside my desired price range. Determination: At ~ $200 for the adapter and this lens, Ive gotten a reasonable telephoto lens that works brilliantly with my M50, plus the ability to add more EF/EF-S lenses to my camera kit later. I should note that this is the international version, so it doesnt come with a warranty included. Amazon offered a warranty through Assurion, so I bought the four-year warranty for just over ~ $12. Bokeh -- The closest you can get with this lens is about four feet, but when you do, you can get some crispy closeups with beautiful bokeh (creamy, blurry background). Ive included several examples of closeups with nice blurry backgrounds. The depth of field is only a few centimeters at 300mm and at a distance of four feet when you do this, but even so... hand-held, Im achieving some pretty awesome shots. Video Stabilization -- The deer video shows about what you can expect from hand-held video with the deer about 40 feet away. It starts out a little shaky, but then stabilizes in about a second. I had a lot of other deer videos, but we can only upload one video per review. Zoom expectations -- Three street scenes, all with identifying numbers and political slogans blurred, but otherwise unretouched... The stop sign that looks furthest away was shot with the lens at 55mm. The stop sign that looks a little closer was shot at 135mm. The stop sign that looks closest was shot at 250mm. All of these photos were taken 377 feet (about 1.13 football-field-lengths) from the sign. All settings were automatic for these photos except for the spider web picture. (Awesome video of that too, but couldnt take the time to show here.) The spider spinning its web was shot hand-held with manual focus. Frankly, this couldnt be done without image stabilization. Overall: I am glad I bought this lens. For anyone who has Canon EOS M-50 that doesnt want to break the bank on other decent lenses, this one hits the sweet spot for price vs capability.

Wow! For the price, this is one hell of a lens. Build quality is...okay. But for the price, its great. Way sharper than my 18-55mm for sure. Color range is better as well. Auto focus is snappy and quiet. I was worried at first because the auto focusing was acting weird, but after more use it fixed itself. Stabilization works like a charm. Id recommend this lens as a first lens, not really an upgrade.

takes beautiful pictures. First time using it, I brought it to a Bat Festival. Was able to get sharp, clear pictures from the back of the crowd as if I was right up next to them! Ive included a few pictures I took from that first time using it

A few awesome images I managed to capture on my first day with the lens. This thing is awesome and amazing! The fact that I got it brand new for only $125 US dollars is mind blowing. It’s also extremely quiet while focusing and the built in image stabilizer helps a lot when you’re taking shots in low light or using low speeds! If you want to see more shots I’ve taken with it and other lenses check out my photography page on Instagram @brucethephotographer

I live abroad and the lens was a gift from my son who lives in Boston. The lens never worked properly for a moment and jept giving Error 001 communication between lens and camera is not working. It would work one time out of 10 essentially ruining my Tanzanian safari for which my son had bought the lens. I would like to return this lens but since I live abroad I need to find a reliable way of getting it back to Amazon, best achieved through a friend traveling to the US. When I tried to file a return claim Amazon said I would have to get the lens back to them by June 30 which just isn;t possible. So, STUCK with a useless lens abroad,

Perfect for what I need it for. Takes great pictures, even though all I shot so far was in my backyard. Cant wait to take it out in the wild to see how well it does out there. So far so good. This was the second lens I tried, having to return the first (from a different seller) because it came in the mail all mangled and dirty. Not sure what happened, but it was horrible. This lens looked brand new and perfect and worked like it was supposed to. My new favorite next to my 50mm.
Make sure this fitsby entering your model number. Long-reaching zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 88-400mm, covering portrait-length to telephoto perspectives. Optical image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 3.5 shutter speed steps to benefit shooting handheld in dim lighting and with greater zoom magnifications. The STM stepping focus motor produces near-silent, smooth, and quick autofocus performance that is well-suited to video applications. One ultra-low dispersion element helps to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortion while also contributing to greater image sharpness, contrast, and clarity. Enhanced lens coatings minimize flare and ghosting in order to produce true colors with maintained contrast.
