Im a professional wedding photographer and have been shooting full time since 2002. Ive been using primes for the last 10 years and tend to shoot with two 5 Mark III bodies. The 35L Mark I has been my most used lens; approximately 50 percent of the images I deliver to clients are shot with it. Another 25 percent are shot with the 85LII, and the rest are equally divided between the 135L, the 50L and the 24LII. I venture below f/2 only when I need to because none of the above lenses achieve critical sharpness wide open. They are of course awesome lenses, but just arent *as sharp* as I prefer. And yes, they are all microadjusted. The 35 1.4 II is simply in another world compared to the rest of Canons most recent L series primes from 24mm to 135mm. I felt like I put on a pair of glasses when I started peeping at the files. Its as sharp wide open as the old one was at 2.8. Color fringing is practically non existent, and it nails focus in dimly lit venues with my 5d3 bodies 90% of the time wide open, compared to maybe 65% of the time with the old one (we are talking ISO 3200, 1/100th, f/1.4 -- so not much ambient light). Color and contrast are gorgeous. This is an expensive lens but in a class of its own and Im thrilled with it. Its bigger than the old version and seems quite a bit more robust. Ive used the Sigma Art lens, which seemed nearly as sharp, but focus accuracy was not as good in poorly lit reception venues.

I would purchase this lens 10 times over. I use a 6D and a Mark IV to do wedding and lifestyle photography. This is my go to lens for everything. I let never fails to deliver the quality images I crave. I originally purchased a Sigma Art 35 but ended up selling because it lost focus after 2 months. I highly recommend this lens. It may be a large chunk of change but worth every single penny.

This lens is amazing. I owned the original 35mm 1.4 and the difference between that one and the newer version is pretty mind blowing. The Sharpness, the color, everything about this lens is pretty amazing. LOVE it and recommend it! Check out my Instagram, just a hobby photographer, most of my images are with my trusty Canon 35mm 1.4 II Instagram: 0rense (number 0 in the beginning)

Why i first went with the Sigma 35 i have no clue! Ended up getting this one after my sigma took a fall and was getting repaired. I know am selling my Sigma 35m because it cant compete with the canon version. Its worth every penny.

Nice piece of hardware, superior to the previous version for multiple reasons as documented here: http://www.dcfever.com/news/readnews.php?id=14718&page=1 Bigger and heavier than the previous lens, is packed with new technologies and features worth the high price. Currently my preferred lens. Took some shots at nighttime: impressed by overall quality and sharpness.

This is a very high quality amazing product. I would highly recommend if you have the budget for it. Nothing short of a top quality Canon product. Only draw back is the price.
