This lens is very universal and fits almost all my needs as a photographer. The quality is great and was better than I had even expected. The seller wrapped it good and it was very secure in its packaging. There were slight marks on it but the seller did say it has been used so I paid no mind to it. Overall the focus is great, the lens was very clean, and I use it literally everyday. Highly recommend this lens for any photographers that need a lens for everyday use. It is worth the money! Attached photos are different shot lengths so you can see the differences in how this lens can be used for medium, wide, or close shots!

Yes, its true that I didnt know till I opened it that it was a "white box" item, and yes, that should have been stated in the sale info that it is not be packaged in a Canon retail box. But I quickly saw that this lens was BRAND SPANKING NEW and not a refurb, second or previously used or returned item. I am a stickler for crispy box folds and original Canon bag wrapping and I know when I open something if it has been previously touched. This one was as crispy as they come unlike what I normally see from B&H. If you watch an unboxing video on youtube of a Canon 6D or 5DMII that is bundled with this as the kit lens, you will see that it comes in this exact same white box, so I am assuming these are from a kit setup where someone only wants the body so the lenses are available by themselves. Mine came with a Canon warranty card. The lens is perfect and it is shooting beautifully - sharp, and no back or front focusing. Quite a deal - probably the best I have ever gotten!

I have a Canon Rebel T4i and after playing with the lens that cam with the Camera (18-55), I soon realized I needed a better range. I read Many Many reviews and decided to buy this Lens. This is a White Box lens; meaning, the lens was taken out of another camera "kit" and sold seperatly from eachother. Companies do this so they can get more money for the body and lens. The Lens is identical to one you would buy for $100 more with the Box. If you are like me and dont plan to resell it soon (or would lose the box anyway) then save teh money and get this one. To start the lens is larger than I expected and heavier. Please see the size and weight, it makes a big difference in the weight of the camera. The lens is heavier but not enough to hinder me carrying it around. as expected with any L lens its well made and Pictures are Amazing (see other reviews for samples ). It is worth the extra money to get the L series. I use the lens for my Children Mostly and landscape/ scenic pictures. If you were looking for something with a decent Zoom and Close-up this camera does the Job, for most. My children are in gymnastics and soccer. The picture quality at 105mm are not compromised and I was very happy. For Zooming Longer distances is a bit short; my next lens will be something 300mm. I would recemmend something up to 300mm if you want to see your children playing from a distance and crop in close. There is a 70-300mm DO that is much smaller than the White telephoto lenses but with the distance. Overall, I am very happy with the lens. Its a great lens to walk-around or everyday. For children playing and portraits the quality is as expected, Amazing. I only carry 2 lenses and This is One of them.

For an entry level Zoom lens for my Canon 5D Mark III, this services SO well! Its beautiful glass, the auto-focus (if youre of a mind to use it) is quick and sharp, and the f4L is sufficient for most lighting conditions. I cant wait to be able to afford the same lens at an f2 or wider!

This is a fairly nice lens. However it is difficult to get a precise zoom at the 24mm end. I also found the zoom lens too small and crammed in towards the camera body. If you are the casual / scenic shooter, this lens will probably be okay. If your an event photographer or have to take shots in a hurry, the lack of ergonomics (small zoom ring , aoom ring too close to camera, not precise zooming at 24mm end) would be a deal breaker.

Nice lens for everyday use and for the price. Works well on a full-frame sensor body (EOS 6D). Decent focal range. Ideally would prefer to be able to go below f/4 aperture, but like the constant aperture over the entire focal range. Arrived in a Canon box. Registered on the Canon website with no issues.

Purchased this lens and the Canon 80D last month and I could not be happier. Although I am really just beginning in photography I have taken some really good pictures. Look forward to advances my skills in the near future. I have always wanted to do this and now I have some really good equipment to get started.

the picture quality is so so amazing. you can tell from day and night with the kit lens. i used to have a 18-135 mm canon. and very happy with the picture quality. now i know what they mean when they say....the glass makes the whole difference.

This is quickly becoming my go-to all purpose lens. It’s been sharp and precise with taking landscape shots. I’ve even used it a few times for portrait work, however I prefer a more shallow depth of field for portraits most of the time. Overall it’s been my main go-to travel lens.
