Dust seems to get past the ring onto my sensor. Im not shooting crazy dusty environments, but my back bag has terrible Velcro inserts that sprinkles white particles all over everything requiring me to blow/brush it off. It would seem that is when it happens. That would be my biggest gripe. Seems to me so far Im getting better portraits rather than landscape from it. Close photos seem to be the sweet spot for this lens. Auto focus seems to hunt where my native lens doesnt seem to. To be fair though I havent messed with it too much wildlife/sports/video wise. Eye auto focus seems to work decent. In the next few weeks I will be getting more equipment to really be able to get good contrasts of comparisons.

This is a beautiful lens, you wont be able to find this kind of quality for this kind of money. Bokeh is unbelievable, its very fast and absolutely perfect for low-light situations. A bit on a "warmer side". Downside for me - its heavy and since its also longer than "native" lenses made by Sony/Zeiss it tilts a little bit. Unfortunately my lens came with a defect thats why I had to send it back. Because of the problem with the weight and size I still dont know whether I should reorder the lens or get Sony Sonnar 1.8 instead...

The sigma art lens is my go to. I Shoot commercial photography and love the sharpness of this lens paired with my Sony a7riii. It is a beast and I use it more than my 85 G master lens.

Its a super sharp lens that takes great photos. Havent had any issues with it. It is a bit heavy but I knew that before I bought it. My favorite lens to use.

I love this lens. A little heavy but I like that since my Sony A7RII is so damn light. Images are nice and sharp and the bokeh is fantastic (to me). I just cant see paying the extra premium for the similar Sony lens.

This is an awesome lens with great character, depth of field, beautiful bokeh, and unbelievable sharpness. Its 1000% better than any of the Sony offerings in this focal length. I tried them all. You may run into issues if youre using an older body, but Im told theyll eventually be releasing firmware updates to address that. If you have an a9 or a a7RIII or a7III, youll be golden. There is minimal secondary CA as youd expect wide open, and it cleans up fairly quickly as you adjust the aperture. In all my tests it was significantly better than the Sony 55mm 1.8Z, and 50mm 1.4Z, both which showed more CA, fringing and spherochromatism. The Sony 55mm, which DXO rates as one of the top 5 lenses in sharpness of all the lenses they tested, has nothing on this lens. In fact, I hate that lens. I think its garbage after using this. I used to love Zeiss lenses, but Sigma is putting them to shame.

I bought this lens for my Sony A7r II from my local camera shop and I got a chance to test it before buying, which I recommend. I dont experience any focusing issues and it works in all auto focusing mode for me. I have always loved the way Sigma ART lenses produce images. No denying its sharpness level and the color and contrast are excellent. I love how well this lens performs at wide open aperture! For a mirrorless camera, this lens is big and heavy. If you dont mind the weight, this lens is definitely worth it. For its asking price, it performs on par with Sonys native G Master lenses.

This lens isnt perfect. It has intermittent problem with auto-focus. I cant trust this len when I go to photoshoot.
