I bought this flash for my Canon SX50HS. It is very good quality and I was quite pleased with my initial impression. It fit perfectly and was functional. Sadly I had to return it because I could only get it to work in AUTO mode. I often change camera modes to M, AV or P and need to set the flash to trigger, but it simply didnt work. While the mounting shoe may be standard, it does not mean its 100% compatible with this camera, in my experience. The other issue was the weight and size compared to the camera. It made the camera feel really heavy and cumbersome.

I am so upset I just purchased this flash because my first original one stopped working after 5 years of use which I thought it was just the lifetime of the product, well, I use this flash for work almost every day 5 years is a pretty good time for the price I paid, I received my Neweer Flash on October 27 2018 , and four days ago out of nowhere my flash just stopped working, that’s less than 6 months!!! , it turns on, you can see the lights, looks like everything is perfect but when I shoot the flash doesn’t trigger any light. I need a new flash asap, a replacement or refund so I can buy a new one, I sent a message to the manufacturer and called them and no one has replied. I have to buy a new one so I can get it in a couple of days. If this company doesn’t reply to me I will out of $35 dlls or more . I have tons of Neweer things. They are one of the best most affordable brands out there so that is why I am surprised this is happening right now and it’s such an inconvenience.

***NOTE*** THIS IS A MANUAL FLASH...YOU CANNOT USE YOUR CANON CAMERA FLASH MENU TO CONTROL THE FLASH. I must say, I didnt have high expectations for this flash. I checked some of the reviews and they were mixed, but reviews are a small part of the reason I make a purchase. The flash is pretty well built for the price range, and seems like it will last for a long time. The optical slave NEVER misses, and its extremely sensitive even when its turned in the opposite direction of the master flash. Even though Im a professional Photographer...to me...Light is light no matter where it comes from. If your flash cost you $500...can I use this flash an create the same image?...You bet I can...How you use your equipment is more important than what equipment you have. Dont get me wrong though...more expensive pieces of equipment usually have more options and allow you certain freedoms, but ehhh...learn with the cheap stuff, and once you see your limits with this equipment...move on from there. ****************************************** Update!!!!: 9/11/2013 First of all (today is 9/11) my condolences to those who have lost loved ones as I did in the attacks) It has been ALMOST 2 years since Ive purchased 3 of these flashes, and they are still working PERFECTLY!!! Im not a fan of spending money on things that will breakdown in the future, and these flashes have been banged around and thrown all over the place yet they still continue to produce excellent light for my photography needs. I usually use them for background, hair lights, and sometimes as a filler when its needed and they have been great. The construction is solid, ease of use is key, optical slave is super sensitive and reliable. When you have good batteries in them...the recycle time is quick. I recommend VERY good rechargeable batteries (eneloop and powerex have never failed me). ****************************************** Update: 12/9/2013 I ordered another one today to use as another slave...the other 3 that I have are still working perfectly fine and I have never had a problem with them at all. for such a cheap product...its pretty shocking that they last this long and contunue to fire on command in slave mode without a miss!!!! I might be getting 2 more of these for a total of 6...some of my light setups are very elaborate, and Ive learned the distance to power ratio in my studio of these flashes and never need to meter tham...they add light just where I need it when I have a snoot on each one. PERFECT!!!

It works like a cheap manual strobe should. Light on features but for the price who cares? I use it for a little fill light and as a backup. Keep in mind these are really cheap. They are cheap for a reason: they are not exactly precision engineered. Mine came with a wonky on/off switch. Off works as expected. On also turns it off. To use it you have to turn it to on and then gently move it back toward off until it comes on. Other than this is a good, cheap light source to practice with off camera flash. Dont rely on it to photograph a wedding or someone famous.

Ive owned this flash for a little more than a year. In the beginning I thought it was just me, but this flash recovers after a shot very slowly. Of course the brighter the intensity, the longer it takes to function again. I notice this improves a little bit when the batteries are brand new, but sometimes it refuses to accept certain batteries. Duracells work great normally, but the Members Mark batteries from Sams Club are hit or miss. I buy them for it simply because this thing eats through a lot of batteries like my kids would eat cookies if I let them. The recovery time makes my work take longer, and I wouldnt want to use this if I was shooting a wedding or something where precious moments would be lost waiting for the flash to decide to function. Those annoyances being stated; the quality of the light output is beautiful. If you are purchasing or own this flash, I would recommend the diffuser that accompanies it for even light distribution. This flash is great when you have time to kill waiting for it.

I own three of these now and love them. I love that if I have my 430EX, 580EX II or another TT560 as a master, other TT560 flashes set as Slave 1 will also fire. I love that I dont need to use any kind of wireless triggers. Battery life is great. I use rechargeable batteries in mine. I have set these up as kicker lights at wedding receptions, way across the room from where im at, and they fire perfectly every time (unless the batteries start to get low). Adjusting light is as easy as hitting plus or minus...so much quicker! I am attaching a photo I took recently. This was taken in the clients living room with one TT560 off camera bouncing off of the ceiling, and one TT560 on camera bouncing off of a wall to my left. no modifiers for this shot. Great flash unit.

Not bad at all. A word of advice. It was not working for me at first with my Canon T6i or 60D. After numerous testing I figured it out. If its not working on your camera, you have to first turn your camera to "manual" then turn the display off. Then the flash works. For some reason, it would not flash when I had the display screen on. However, right after you take the picture, it will still display on your screen for 3 seconds. You just do not have the ability to live view through the screen.

I purchased this approximately 75 days ago and Ive used it 3-4 times since then. My experience has mostly been to use this as a slave flash as a back light, so this is how I will be reviewing this product. I use this flash to shoot head shots, mostly. First of all, Ill start this review by saying it is important for you to read the product description to know exactly what youre buying. If you want a flash with an auto mode or TTL technology, this is not for you. What this flash is, is a basic manual flash which has 8 steps of power, diffuser and bounce card, test/pilot button, rotating head that locks in large intervals (horizontally and vertically), and manual/S1/S2 modes. It also mounts to shoe-mounts, which is tightened by hand. Ive rarely used the flash using the shoe-mount on my camera and in manual mode. When I do, the flash syncs with the shutter just fine. My main usage is in S1 mode, and I normally use an off-camera flash to trigger the Neewer flash, which works well. Ive shot this flash in slave mode in normal ambient light, and it picked up the flash of the key light well. It syncs well with the key light and I see no banding at 1/160 or slower shutter speeds. In very, very few cases (under 5%), the light didnt flash when the key light flashed. I figured out it happened when rapidly clicking the shutter and the flash did not have time to cycle to another charge. Another time, it happened when the Neewer flash was not in a clear line of sight of the key light (flash). So, bear in mind that when using this flash in slave mode, youll want to have a clear line of sight. When you do, it works flawlessly. Ive used it during shoots that have lasted about 1.5 hours, taken approximately 120 photos, and the flash goes strong with fairly short cycling times. Like all flashes, cycle time to re-charge increases after each burst, so no surprise there. This flash takes 4 AAA batteries, and its charge and cycle time is comparable to modern flashes. When I attach the flash to a shoe mount, it feels very secure. To me, this is important, because Ive had flashes that felt very loose when attaching to an external shoe mount, like on a tripod. This guy feel snug when hes on a tripod adapter or something similar. The light itself is smooth.. not much else to really say about that. For a $25 flash, why wouldnt you include this flash in your bag? In my experience, it works great as a slave flash and does the job well. There arent any real cons that I can think of. I give 5 stars and have recommended this to several photographer friends.

Mine didnt come with mini stand.... I didnt bother to send it back as I use it on the light stand most of time, anyway, just saying, to check your package when you receive it. It works optically (using on camera flash to trigger it) but it works better in a darker room, if too much ambient light it would miss a few flash. One time I find swiveling the flashgun away from the softbox and lightstand seems to helpful to receive the optical signals better so now I dont bend the flashgun too much, probably make it parallel to the ground when attached to a softbox... still trying to see if this will take better signals or just my own imagination... Anyway, I am going to order flash trigger because I dont want to have on camera flash to affect the products I shoot.
