Fantastic TV. Highly recommended
One of the best TV's on a market today! Excellent design, Great sound and video quality. For the best sound experience I recommend to purchase a Sony top of the range soundbar with the subwoofer and rear ATMOS speakers. The Sony Bravia Code with IMAX enhanced movies is impressive and 10 free movie credits is a great addition. I've got 75" model and it's a great screen. Highly recommended purchase. It's expensive, but it's worth it!

Very Good But Not Great
It's been about a month now of using the Sony Bravia 9, 65inch. My two movie recommendations to showcase what the TV can do are 'Ben-Hur' 1959 & 'Tron Legacy'. 4K HDR 10 bit versions. Super, super picture quality, especially in HDR content consumption. Get it out of your head that this is an 'OLED Killer', different technologies for different purposes. I am a big fan of HDR pop and that matters to me more than the 'deep inky blacks' of OLED. The Bravia 9 is not a slouch in that department at all, the contrast is fantastic, the purists might see some slight grey letter box bars from time to time. The TV has many picture settings to help you fine tune the image which is great. The out of the box calibration is very good to my eye but its advanced features allows for professional calibration if you wish. The four stars comes from the EIZO Monitor Test. The Uniformity of the panel could be better, especially for the price. There is Dirty Screen Effect on the pictures attached, I haven't noticed it distracting me during viewing, however I'm concerned about the future. Very similar picture with black uniformity with noticeable hotspots which can be reduced by lowering 'Auto local dimming' & 'Peak luminance'. I didn't buy a product like this to keep it tame. I use the TV plugged to my computer's RX 7900XTX GPU through HDMI. Beware of minor Windows HDR artifacts. I experienced visual artifacts whilst streaming HDR content on Mozilla Firefox. I'm using Windows 11 64bit and I did update the TV firmware manually to software version: 112.631.085.1EUA. The TV though 'Smart' allows you to set it up as a basic TV without connection to the web. It comes with a basic remote and a smart remote, the UK version that is. More than two HDMI 2.1 ports should be standard, for the price. Visit Rtings.com for a more thorough review.

Brilliant Bravia 9
I have the Sony Bravia 9, 75-inch TV, and after unboxing my first impressions were that it is a big TV, with excellent build quality and a very sleek design. I currently have the TV mounted on the feet that are supplied with it. You have a choice of width of where you place the feet, which is great to cater for different sizes of TV cabinet. Plus, the choice of height to have the TV, which allows the placement of a soundbar at the bottom of the TV. What I do like is that the TV comes with a choice of remote controls, one of which illuminates and is also USB rechargeable. The quality of the Eco-friendly plastics used for this is much improved on previous versions of remote controllers. Setting up the TV I found was straightforward, almost like plug and play. After connecting to the WIFI, the TV recognised what I was connecting to it, (satellite service, sound bar and voice activated service) and then through the built in Google TV, logging on to my streaming services following the easy onscreen instructions and QR codes. I was all set up and ready to watch and explore the features of this TV very quickly. I am very impressed with the excellent picture quality from this TV. It adapts to its environment well, the picture is vibrant and sharp. For me this TV reproduces well balanced vivid colours, contrasting shadows and highlights, in what to me looks very accurate representation and with true colour tones. The TV has several pre-defined viewing modes which you can change dependent upon the content you are watching. There is also the option to fine tune these picture settings to really make the picture you see personal to your taste. In addition, this TV also continues with the feature to provide the option to calibrate and optimise your feed from streaming services, again with the additional options to make the viewing adjustments for yourself. Personally, I am more than happy with the output from the predefined picture settings provided and have not needed to fine tune or tinker with anything. The picture produced by this TV is giving me an excellent immersive viewing experience that both me and my family are thoroughly enjoying. Also contributing to this immersive experience is the audio that is produced by this TV. The TV adapts the sound to the size and shape of the room, and I can say that the sound direct from this TV is the best I have experienced. Again, you can utilise the built in equaliser function where you can adjust the sound output to suit your own taste. The sound output really does fill the room with clear vocals, good midtones plus a decent bass sound, this TV produces a very good sense of surround sound. The built in smart TV functions are comprehensive and intuitive, and again linking to your streaming accounts was very simple, following the on-screen instructions. Overall, I think that this is an excellent TV with the standout features being both a stunning picture and superb sound output. In addition, for me, being able to adapt both picture and sound qualities to your own personal taste / room qualities only enhances a truly immersive and thoroughly enjoyable viewing experience that I have from this TV.

Brining the big screen experiemce to your home
This TV packs in feature, after feature. Opening the box I was impressed with the size of the tv and its build quality. (Buyers should ensure that if they are using a tv stand to check the weight of the tv as these are substantial screens.) Putting the tv up on the wall is definatley my preferred option. Setting up the tv was simple and we connected it to a google account. For ease of set up I used the bluetooth controller, opposed to the standard one (both are supplied). Once set up the display from the screen does not disapoint. I had seen some reviews that people couldn't connect their soundbars using a optical connection, however within the kit is a attachment that allows you to use this feature. Once set up I played around with the options on the audio, as the delay needed tweeking, but again not to complex to sort. As well as your standard tv features I love the quick buttons on the remote, and even found extra shows that way my children love. I have also had a look at the room art features and love the space function with the great colours of the screen taking my mind to a peacful place as the solar images and music relax you. The thing I most enjoy about this tv is that it is like having your own cinema experience at home, bringing those big screen pictures to your living room. With updates the capability of this tv and all its features will continue to grow.

True Flagship QLED Masterpiece with finesse
Design and Build 9.5/10 The Bravia 9 is incredibly built, everything from the heavy metal feet to the sleek frame exudes quality. The metal feet can be positioned in four different ways, making it versatile for different setups, including a raised position to accommodate a soundbar. The rear has panels to help tidy all your cables. My only gripe is the non-removable power cable. The design is sleek and modern, with a checkerboard rear and metal speaker grills, making the Bravia 9 look good from every angle. The metal frame and Sony's logo on the bottom strip give the TV a premium feel. However, the remote, while functional, could have matched the TV’s quality with a metal top panel. I do like that it's rechargeable via USB-C and has voice search capabilities as well as optimising the TVs audio. Picture Quality 10/10 The first thing that impressed me about the Bravia 9 is the fact it’s the only TV I have not had to adjust any of the settings. Professional mode on the Bravia 9 is absolutely perfect for watching movies. Normally I spend hours tweaking picture settings to get them just right. With the Bravia 9, the only adjustment I made was setting live colour to medium; everything else was spot on. The Bravia 9 is spectacularly bright which means in bright rooms, the TV gets plenty bright enough. The reflection handling is also excellent which helps at being perhaps the best TV available for bright rooms. In darker rooms, if the brightness becomes too much, then simply turn on the ambient light sensor and the TV perfectly adjusts the light output to ensure it is comfortable. The control of how well the brightness is managed on the Bravia 9 is its greatest strength. The Bravia 9 doesn’t just blast out the brightest image possible; it is so much more nuanced than that. Contrast is excellent and was able to produce blacks very close to OLED. In some cases, there was a very small amount of blooming but it was not in any way distracting. Being a QLED, the colours pop and thanks to the astonishing high peak brightness, the colour volume is immense. Motion is also excellent. In terms of picture quality, the Bravia 9 is the most impressive LCD I have ever seen. Picture Quality for Films and TV shows 10/10 When it comes to films and tv shows, ‘natural’ and ‘cinematic’ are the two words that come to mind. Motion is flawless when watching Blu Rays and there’s something so natural about how the Bravia 9 presents everything. The colour pallet is very well controlled with plenty of volume and such nuanced control over the brightness. Ghostbusters Afterlife- Sony Pictures CORE The big fight scene at the end with the proton cannons really showed how well the Bravia 9 controls the brightness, with excellent colour depth and the black letter box bars were inky black with no noticeable blooming. Top Gun Maverick – 4K Blu Ray The scenes where they tried to reach Mach 10 were beautiful. Colours were spot on; contrast was excellent with perfect shadow detail. Again, professional picture mode is the way to go. Details were super sharp and the blacks in the cockpit were deep and inky. Planet Earth 2 – 4K Blu Ray The opening scene with the white snow showed just how clean the Bravia 9 panel is and how bright the TV can get. The details on the eagle were razor sharp and the colours demonstrated how much colour volume the Bravia 9 has. The TV had no issue reproducing any colour; it looked absolutely stunning with the perfect amount of saturation to show off how colourful life can be on planet Earth. The Grand Tour- Prime Video The scene with the Bugatti Chiron had my jaw dropped. The details in colour, contrast, edges and the way the lights shone with such finesse on the spectacular highlights really showed me how impeccable the Bravia 9 is. Quantum of Solace -Blu Ray Upscaling 1080p Blu Rays was handled very well, without looking overly sharpened. Again, in professional mode, the Bravia 9 was nothing short of a masterpiece for cinematic SDR content. Kong vs Godzilla – 4K Blu Ray The night time fight scene with the neon lights was spectacular on the Bravia 9. Blooming was not an issue at all, even for super bright scenes from Kong’s axe and Godzilla’s atomic breath. The neon colours popped off the screen and were punchy and vibrant. Mad Max Fury Road – 4K Blu Ray The flames in the desert chase scene were incredibly rich and vibrant and the specular highlights coming off the chrome trim on the car were dazzling. Picture Quality for broadcast TV Standard definition content on a 75 inch TV is hard work, nonetheless, the Bravia 9 was up for the task. However, I would advise increasing the resolution on reality creation in the picture settings menu as this does improve the picture quite a lot. For HD content, the Bravia 9 does an great job of upscaling again without making anything look overly sharpened. Sports was brilliant as the screen can maintain its high brightness and the panel is exceptional clean. Gaming 9/10 Sony has quite a lot of features for gaming. The Bravia 9 supports 4K 120Hz gaming with VRR. There’s also a new PlayStation remote play app, allowing you to use Remote Play from your PlayStation directly on the TV. There is a gaming menu that displays the frame rate, adds a crosshair, allows you to resize the playable area, and toggle VRR. There are also three gaming presets: Standard, FPS, and RTS. Using the PS5 auto optimisation settings, the colours were gorgeous and the contrast was excellent. There is also the option for motion blur reduction. This was very helpful for Black Myth: Wukong, as I prefer the fidelity mode on this game, which comes at the cost of frame rate. The motion blur reduction is essentially black frame insertion and made it a much better experience. I would leave this setting on low or medium if you decide to use it, as it does reduce the brightness significantly when set to high. Input lag wasn’t an issue for me when playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies or Gran Turismo 7 online. Where the Bravia 9 really comes into its own is with games such as Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered. Colours on Spider-Man 2 were punchy, and darker scenes in The Last of Us Part II were handled well with excellent shadow details. Sound Quality 10/10 There are a total of 8 drivers on the Bravia 9, including 2 height channels and frame tweeters (clever stuff). The sound is optimized using the microphone on the TV remote to ensure you get the best sound from the seating position. I started off watching Top Gun: Maverick and was gobsmacked at how good the speakers are on this TV. I haven’t heard another TV quite like this. There was plenty of bass, way more than I have heard from any other TV. Dialogue was clear, and the two height speakers did an amazing job when the jet flew overhead. The sound system on this TV has to be heard to be believed. If you are looking at a budget to mid-range soundbar, I wouldn’t bother; the Bravia 9 is more than adequate. Obviously, it isn’t a replacement for a high-end soundbar or a dedicated home theatre; however, Sony still allows you to integrate the built-in speakers into a compatible home theatre setup. I use a 5.1.2 home theatre setup and felt like I wasn’t getting the most out of the TV if I didn’t use the TV speakers as well. Thankfully, Sony has thought of a solution to this. With a compatible Sony AV receiver or soundbar, you can use the TV speakers as a centre channel, or in my case, a second centre channel with Sony’s S-centre speaker mode. This feature allows you to make the most of the Bravia 9, as using it expands where the sound is coming from and makes it feel more like it comes directly from the screen. The effects are very subtle, to ensure there isn’t a mismatch between the dedicated speakers and the TV speakers; however, it does add some more height to the centre channel, which I find great. Features 9/10 The Bravia 9 runs Google TV, which is an excellent operating system as you can download apps from the Google Play Store and Chromecast from other devices. The menu is easy to use, runs smoothly most of the time. There is a lot that can be customized in terms of quick settings and quick access to input selection, as well as controlling your AV receiver/soundbar settings. It comes with 10 credits to redeem films on the Sony Pictures CORE app. This app is something all other streaming platforms need to take a note from as the CORE app streams 4K HDR movies at high bitrates which rivals 4K Blu Ray. The app has a huge list of Sony films you can choose from, including many that can be watched for free. The tv also has a PlayStation Remote Play app, allowing you to connect to a PS5 in another room in the house and play on the TV. handy feature, however I do have my PS5 connected directly to the Bravia 9. The Bravia 9 supports Dolby vision, HDR10 and HLG. Streaming apps including Sony Pictures CORE, Netflix and Prime Video have an option to turn on calibrated mode which automatically puts your TV in the best picture mode. The Bravia 9 also supports Calman software which makes calibrating the TV easier. This is not something I have done as the professional mode results in phenomenal picture quality as is. Conclusion 10/10 Overall, the Bravia 9 produces some of the best picture quality I have ever seen; the colour volume is excellent, blacks are deep and inky, motion is absolutely perfect and there is such nuanced control of the brightness. Furthermore, the Bravia 9 has top-tier build quality, stunning design, runs Google Tv and has the best sound system I have heard built into a TV. This TV is the complete package for everyone and is truly one of the best TVs I have ever seen. I would highly, highly recommend it.

Bravo Bravia!
I’m a fiddler, and I haven’t had a fiddle for 2 weeks. There, I’ve said it. I’m one of those people that can’t help but fiddle, tweak and interfere with settings, whether it be in the car or my HiFi – it’s a bad habit that achieves marginal amateurish results. My worst habit is fiddling with TV’s. I sit there and torment myself - could the black be blacker? Is it bright enough? What about the skin tones? You get the idea. It drives my good lady wife mad, and she quite rightly questions why I have to do this anyway, surely the investment in the item should give me the best out of the box. And of course she’s right, as she is with most things. This brings me to the Sony Bravia 9, this is what I can only describe as a “statement TV”, everything about it is statement’y. The box is a work of recyclable art and engineering, designed with such thought that the box even assists in assembling the legs for the included stand (so clever). The actual screen itself is finished in premium materials that simply look amazing in any room. Guests have audibly gasped with delight upon first sight – and that’s even before it’s powered on. Feed it a high-quality signal like 4K, HDR or Dolby Vision and OMG (as my kids said), it’s breathtaking and a real WOW moment. The definition, the brightness, the colour and a first for me is the fabric of the image – almost better than life like. Despite all the technical wizardry going on behind the scenes, I’ve never seen an image look so NOT processed and so real-world-like. I stand proudly admiring the image and the reactions of my casual audience, but there is no pride for me personally, as this isn’t a result of my own fiddling and tweaking and therefore, I can’t claim (like I used to) that this greatness was down to my fine eyes and my ability to navigate and interpret the settings. Sony’s very clever engineers have created a TV that calibrates itself based on not only the specific content you are viewing, but also how you are viewing. It’s called Calibrated Mode, and it’s a game changer. Whether you are streaming through Netflix or Prime or even Sony’s own Sony Pictures Core streaming service, the TV understands what you are watching and therefore what you should see, as The Director intended. A studio and professional quality image out of the box without all the hours and hours of fiddling. Add in the optional Bravia Cam, and it will even take into account your viewing environment (including your seating position) and calibrate accordingly. My torment and that constant search for the perfect picture is over, all that’s left for me to do is to enjoy the movie or the game, and that’s the way it should be. Bravo Bravia.
