Never worked right. I was traveling for work when I received it and once I got home and plugged it in, the power would reset after a few moments of playing a Bluray. Tried a region-free domestic DVD and it had the same behavior.

Delivered the next day! Small and neat and does the job. Plays DVDs from all regions with automatic region switching and uses color coded buttons on the remote to select BluRay region of choice when starting device up. It would have been good to have the auto region switch for BluRay as for DVD, but only a minor downside. One HDMI connection to a sound bar using an ARC HDMI connection to the TV and the TV automatically detects the BluRay player through the sound bar connection when switched on. A good option with Sony quality.

i really love this machine. i can play blu-rays, dvds, & movies from different zones. i thought it was going to this big old bulky machine, but it has a nice slim look to it. see i gotten another player from somebody else, but they didnt give directions to use the zone free feature. yall did though. the only gripe i have with it is, it doesnt have a A-B button. but other than that, its a great little machine. should tell sony to put A-B on their blu-ray players. Love it, thanxs!!

I ordered this Sony DVD multi-region player because the IVID player that I purchased four years ago suddenly stopped working. I have a lot of DVDs from different regions since Ive traveled a lot. But I also wanted a DVD player that I could use as my regular DVD player, and this Blu Ray player fit the bill. It was easy to connect to my Samsung Smart TV with the HDMI cable which was included. When you insert the DVD, the player automatically determines the region so there is no need to fiddle with any of the settings, etc. The picture and sound is great. And, as promised, it actually upgrades DVDs that are not Blu Ray quality so they look better. Im very satisfied with the player. I also bought for an additional $5 insurance for three years in case something goes wrong, but honestly, the player is performing wonderfully and I dont anticipate any problems. Oh, and one other thing. Its very small. That isnt a problem for me, but its interesting! At this point I would recommend this product.

I have not been able to view my product yet. Ive been working on trying to use my new receiver. Once I figure this part out, I should be able to enjoy my Blu-ray. This is the reason I gave it 3 stars. In a few weeks, I will be able to give a better opinion.

Perfect! I needed a multi region player, but it was so hard to decide on which one. I already had a Sony player and they work great.. Is all I had to do was remove the hdmi cord and power cord from my other Sony and plug it in to this player.. I put the DVD in and it was up on the screen and it played great. That makes my per view cost quite high, but it was a rare movie and worth the cost. Best of all, I got it the same day I ordered it.

This machine finally provides access to a host of fine movies, American and foreign titles, which have persisted in remaining unavailable in U.S. editions. So far, all of the non-U.S- region films I have tried out on it have turned out to be great transfers.

My S1700 just arrived. It played a PAL DVD and other Blue Rays or DVDs from my collection. HOWEVER, it does not connect to the internet. I tried several cables. It does not work, and, it is NOT WIRELESS!! WHY would any respectable manufacturer put out an old fashioned LAN wired machine? Its insane. Im reconsidering not keeping my PRIME account. This one does not seem to be a legitimate SONY product. HOW COULD AMAZON DO THIS to their trusting customers?

CT Home Owner is right. Does not deserve the Sony logo. Remote sux. Player oes not respond. Every command produces 2-3 split-second images of things (like aspect ratio) that are already defined. At best this is SLOPPY. Charging WAY too much money 3rd rate crap that theyve slapped the Sony logo on. This device could have been tweaked to eliminate these glitches but nobody bothered. Why?
