Works pretty well. Start-up time is reasonable. Tried it on Asia coded DVD and it works.

Last Sony product Ill buy. I thought maybe I just got a lemon, until I started reading all kinds of reviews with the same issues. When the disc is spinning you cant hardly hear the TV over the vibrating hum. Sony cant seem to figure out the youtube app, so youre constantly getting kicked off youtube. And when you finally find a movie to watch on one of the streaming apps, this player freezes up to where you cant even turn it off. You have to unplug it and plug it back in. For the money theyre stealing from unsuspecting victims buying this worthless pile of plastic... they ought to be prosecuted. Too many other reputable brands out there for me to deal with this company again. Good luck!

Ive been waiting for a reliable Blu-ray/DVD player for eons that plays multi-region Blu-ray and DVD discs since I enjoy British films and TV programs. I finally took the plunge with this Sony player that seems to play just about every kind of disc from around the world. Once making the plunge Ive never been disappointed since. The order and delivery process was fast, the player was as easy as pie to connect to the TV, and the Sony player works flawlessly. Ive ordered a ton--well, almost--of British videos and each has played without any hiccups whatsoever. Plus, all your favorite apps are already installed, or easily installed, like Netflix, Pandora, YouTube; you name it. Even the remote control is of comfortable size and does the job very nicely. If you like to watch foreign films and TV programs that you cant get for Region 1/A, then I highly recommend this Sony player. Heck, if you only watch Region 1/A videos I still highly recommend this player. Oh, BTW, the player is smaller than your normal machine, thus saving you valuable A/V shelf space.

I would not recommend this product. Netflix, Amazon prime, and the Blu-ray player will lock up on you. That happens every week connected to the ethernet, not the wifi. Since Blu-ray is Sonys "baby" they should consider putting out a more reliable product, or just be honest that their engineering junk.

I bought the Sony BDP-S6500 Multi Region Blu-ray DVD Player to watch DVDs from several regions. However, our 10-year-old plasma TV did not recognize the BDP-S6500s HDMI signal in either of of its two HDMI ports. Not impressed. Then it dawned on me. Could the cable be bad? I switched cables and bingo - everything worked!
