The pros: solid build and feel. Doesnt slide around when I insert a disc. The remote is heavy, which I like, and the buttons are spaced for a normal adult to use, which is great! Doesnt overwhelm with streaming options that other players have. The cons: slow disc start ups, lots of black screens, the EJECT button is in the CENTER of the remote (?), menus are dated and boring, there are only two streaming options (non-changeable), plays next to none of digital files Ive put in via the USB. However, this is the only model that properly plays back HDR content through my Epson projector. The image is solid and the 3D content has the least amount of ghosting of any of the recent players Ive tested out. Ive tried the Sony and Samsung UHDs, both of which had their own list of issues. The unit itself was larger than the photos led on, which is great. I thought this was going to get lost on my shelf, but it has a great minimalist look. Did I mention that the eject button is in the center of the remote? This means that when you go to pick the remote up, chances are your finger lands right on it, and ejects the disc while you might be watching something.

It plays discs, period. DVD, Blu-rays, home-burned DVDs, home-burned blu-rays, 4k Blu-rays, etc. Pretty much whatever I throw at it, it plays without any trouble. Thats what its good for. If youre looking for a streaming device, dont get this one - the apps are too limited to be useful. Get a Roku or anything else. What has been a huge difference maker for me is the dual HDMI ports. I have an older HDMI receiver that didnt support 4K but had no need to replace it at all. Thanks to the dual HDMI ports, I have the video port connected to my TCL Dolby Vision TV and the audio port connected to my Onkyo HDMI receiver - so Im getting 4K Dolby Vision audio and Dolby TrueHD from my receiver - without spending anything extra on adapters or a new receiver.

Ive been using this player for a month and have had no issues with it. It paired automatically with my Samsung 4K UHD tv and turns the tv on when it is turned on so it is ready to play in a few seconds. It has a small footprint and is quiet when playing a video. The quality of the 4K videos is stunning when played on this player and broadcasted on the 4K tv. Ive read, in other revues, that the unit produces heat when left in quick start mode so leave quick start mode off during set up because the unit starts up quickly anyway.

For the price this is probably the best player on the market. I bought it to replace a clunky PS4 and to be able to play 4K HDR films. It feels well built and has all the features you may want. Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, etc. The user interface is not very sophisticated but it is functional. I havent tried any of the internet features which I will never use. Compared to the PS4 discs start playing much faster. Also with the PS4 it seems every couple of minutes a frame or two are skipped. The Phillips can play 4K steadily like a tank. Im sitting about 6 feet from the player and my only complaint is that I can hear the disc spinning if the room is quiet and the volume is low. Its not really a deal breaker and at normal movie volumes this noise is inaudible. Im very happy with the upgrade from the PS4 and Im excited to be able to watch movies in 4K HDR.

Had this player for about a week now. As far as the player itself the picture is superb on UHD discs, especially with HDR10, and upscales regular blu-ray discs very nicely. UHD Guardians Galaxy vol 2 was outstanding! After figuring out the audio options it is capable of Dolby Atmos. Sounds great! Took a few days to figure out the audio menu, not very intuitive. The audio options are listed on the right in two columns with no indications on how to pick them. Left hand column is the options and the right hand column is the actual options for each option on the left. I put this in here to save you some time and frustration. It only has Netflix and Youtube, so not really a big streaming option. I have a Roku so no big deal for me. Once it has the Dolby Vision Firmware upgrade(not yet) it will check all the boxes for me. At this price, a good value. Happy so far!

Not sure if I got a lemon, but power up time is slow with a highly unresponsive remote. (It took me several presses to get the remote to do things -- super annoying when you are entering passwords at setup.) I even moved the unit around to see if was a line of sight issue. The player seemed to handle a brand new 4k UHD disc movie for the most part -- 1-2 brief episodes of the picture getting distorted. Did not connect via the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) HDMI with my Vizio TV (purchased in 2018). Finally the remote does not have a volume button or TV on/input button.

I have bought two of these players. Aluminum casing makes this the best build out there. Have watched several 4k movies and not one hiccup. No freezing or turning off. Blurays jump out and look almost as good as 4k. Best one out there by far.

Great unit, cant wait for the Dolby Vision upgrade. Plays 4K Blu-ray movies well, interface is simple and intuitive, and the Netflix app works well. Not sure if its my network cable, but for some reason Netflix seems to refuse to play Stranger Things 2 in HDR or even 4K. It seemed like it was stuck at 720p, but my Chromecast sure does fine @4K with Dolby Vision.

I recently purchased an LG OLED 4k set and decided to take the plunge on an Ultra-HD Blu-Ray player to go along with it. Ive been happy with this one so far as it came with a HDMI cable to go to my TV and I did have to supply a second HDMI cable (audio only) to go to my AV receiver to get surround sound audio as my receiver isnt compatible with the latest HDMI/Copy protection standards...so its nice they though of this by having two HDMI outs on the player. However, by default it uses an alternate audio soundtrack for the HDMI audio out port which gets downmixed to plain old dolby digital or dts...you have to go into the menus and disable this feature to get the full 7.1 or better audio mixes. Why this isnt the default setting I dont know and I thought there was something wrong until I searched around enough to find this default needed to be changed.

I bought this when the price dropped to $150. I was neck and neck with this and an Xbox one to use as a 4k player. The price drop made the choice easy. The good: picture quality is outstanding. The sound is great but I took a bit to configure. My TV defaults to PCM once I set everything to bitstream it worked great. There is a separate HDMI audio out but the sound is great with the one cable configuration. The bad: slow startup. There is no stretch feature so all 4k movies play with big black bars at the top and bottom. This is probably the best bang for the buck in a 4k player in 2007
